Chapter 198: Spilling Wine

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-9-11

“What do I know? Today is the first time Nelson brought his wife to a banquet, and you ruined it for him. Let’s see how he deals with you.”
“Then let him deal with me!” She wasn’t afraid at all. “Jaquan, you went to London a few days ago, right? How’s Marilyn’s illness? If she finds out about this, you might have to go again!”
At the mention of this, Jaquan’s expression changed slightly but he still smiled. “Regan, if Marilyn finds out about this, you’ll be the first one I deal with.”
“Jaquan! I’m your family! How can you side with this bitch?”
“Who are you calling a bitch?” Callie couldn’t listen anymore and retaliated. “Just because I don’t know you doesn’t mean you can talk to me like that.”
“So what if I call you a bitch? You seduced Nelson while Marilyn was away. I can’t believe you secretly got married!” She had no grace of a lady and was clearly upset, having just learned the news.
“If she was so capable, why did she go abroad? Why give me the opportunity? Watch your mouth. I never seduced Nelson, not ever.”
Callie had initially wanted to hold back, but her words were too harsh.
“You!” Regan Padilla was furious. She picked up a glass of wine and tried to throw it at Callie, but Jaquan blocked it, ruining his suit with red wine. Callie gasped.
Jaquan’s eyes turned cold. “Satisfied?”
“Jaquan…”
“Go back!”
Regan stomped her foot, glared at Callie, and then turned to leave.
Callie quickly pulled out a tissue to wipe him down, stammering, “You, um, thank you.”
Jaquan grabbed her wrist and walked towards the restroom. “It’s not convenient here. If you really want to thank me, let’s find another place.”
Callie had no time to refuse. She glanced back and saw Nelson far away on a phone call, not noticing them.
In the restroom, Jaquan took off his stained jacket and said directly, “Nice job.”
Callie pretended not to understand. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Mr. Scott.”
“So you were already married to Nelson when I first met you. Tell me, what method did you use?” Jaquan leaned against the sink with his hands in his pockets and lit a cigarette.
Callie smiled awkwardly. “Charm, I guess.”
Jaquan laughed sarcastically, his gaze falling on her chest. “I don’t know about charm, but you’ve got a good figure.”
Callie immediately covered her chest. “How can you say that!”
“Have you consummated the marriage?”
Callie didn’t know his intention but thought since Nelson had admitted they were married, she might as well say it directly. “Of course.”
Jaquan nodded and exhaled a puff of smoke. “I saw the surveillance in the lounge.”
“…” Callie suddenly remembered. But didn’t Nelson remove the bug? “You’re lying.”
“He removed the bug, not the surveillance. This means he wanted me to see it, so of course I had to appreciate it.” Jaquan said playfully. “That day I suddenly got a call from Marilyn saying she had an accident and didn’t know what to do. I had no choice but to fly directly to London. It was during those days that Nelson sealed the deal with Vankey.”
Callie understood now. It wasn’t a coincidence; everything was arranged by Nelson.
“Mr. Scott once told me about the beauty trap strategy. It seems it applies to you as well.”
