Joan’s face twitched in annoyance, “Are you trying to tell me I am invisible?”
“Slightly,” Edmond glacially responded. Susan and Ivy were silently watching their tussle; they found it entertaining, especially Joan’s facial expression. They hadn’t seen this side of her before.
Joan couldn’t ignore how he constantly tried to rip her off her duty. “You’ve been irritating me since this morning. I am her personal assistant, not you. Stick to your job.”
“Oh, so you are her personal assistant? Then I am her bodyguard. And I am sticking to my job.”
Joan turned speechless, then it occurred to her. ‘Did he know the water was drugged?’ Her heart thudded, ‘If he knows…’ then he was really sticking to his job.
“Guys, you shouldn’t fight over me,” Ivy tried to calm the tension between them.
Joan admitted defeat, “Forget what I said to you. That was mean.” She retracted the bottle of water. “You can have his, I don’t mind.”
Ivy snorted at Joan’s response. “Joan, what’s the big deal?”
“Yeah, it’s not a big deal. I just overreacted a little,” Joan accepted the fact that there was no way she could harm Ivy with Edmond present. “I’ll be back.”
Ivy had a smile on her face, but immediately Joan left, her smile dropped. “Joan has been acting strange lately.”
“How so?” Susan didn’t notice anything strange in her behavior. “She was just pissed by Edmond’s… Oh sorry, I better not offend you before you steal my job,” Susan said jokingly.
Edmond gave Susan an icy cold stare that should have made her shudder, but she was amused instead. “Your bodyguard is one hell of a kind. Mr. Black, please lighten up a little.” Since he was decked in black, she decided to dub him Mr. Black. Edmond’s emotionless gaze remained on Susan, while Susan, on the other hand, wasn’t affected in any way. She covered her mouth and whispered in Ivy’s ear, “This fella looks like those defenders in the movie, who were ready to risk their lives for their boss. Zack Anderson knows how to pick people, I give him that.”
Ivy chuckled, “Susan, he can hear you.”
Susan whispered again. “I know.”
Ivy and Anna acted one more scene before filming was wrapped up for the day. They changed out of their costumes and left the set. While George was resting on his car patiently waiting for one of the two beautiful women coming out of the building. Ivy was glad it wasn’t her.
At the hotel restaurant, Ivy, Joan, and Susan were having their dinner, and on their right-hand side, the lovebirds were also having theirs.
“It might seem like a friendly dinner, but I bet it will end up in bed,” Susan scoffed.
“Susan,” Ivy called her.
“What? I’m just saying.” Susan couldn’t keep her mouth shut from blurting out what was on her mind. Susan was disappointed in Anna for choosing to date the Casanova instead of a better guy. “He will dump her soon. I wish I can warn her before then.”
Ivy gave her a playful stern look, and Susan understood. “Okay, okay, fine I won’t gossip.” Then she realized a certain someone was missing. “Where is Joan?”
“I’m right here.” She appeared out of nowhere and sat beside the duo.
Just as Susan had predicted, the lovebirds did end up in bed, to be precise, George’s bed. They both agreed to keep their relationship a secret to avoid raising suspicion. George left the restaurant first before Anna discreetly went to his room. They had a passion-filled night, with their bodies syncing in love making. Luckily for their new relationship, there was no night filming, so they had the whole night to themselves.
Ivy, after having dinner, made her way to her room. Inside the elevator, she was with a man. She had the feeling she had met him somewhere, though she didn’t see his face because he was wearing black glasses, which she found strange. “Hi, have we met before?”
The stranger didn’t turn around to face her; he just replied, “No, we haven’t.” Then he left immediately as the door opened.
Ivy pressed on, “Hey, wait. Are you sure we haven’t met before?”
“No, we haven’t,” he repeated, walking away. It looked as if he didn’t want to remain in her presence, and Ivy didn’t mind that. She knew exactly who he was; she was pretending to be clueless. ‘Ethan,’ her childhood friend, had turned into an enemy. It was more like an enemy turned another into her enemy, which made her wonder: what kind of lies did Irene tell him that made him turned hostile towards her. Now he was pretending not to know her. Well, she wasn’t too surprised; if her first love could cheat on her, if her elder sister could betray her, what can’t a friend do?
She shrugged him out of her head and prepared to enter her room, but one thought lingered. ‘He is up to something.’ Curiosity drove her to turn around to follow the direction she last saw him to find him, but it was like he disappeared. She searched the hallway but still couldn’t find him. “Where did he go?”
After thirty minutes of searching with no avail, she gave up on the search. Whatever they were planning, she was ready to face it head-on.
As she closed the door behind her, Ethan appeared from where he was hiding. ‘I didn’t want to fight with you, Ivy, but I had to, after everything you did’. His handsome face sunk as he recalled the exact words Irene told him. Those words drove him to decide who to support among the two sisters. ‘I hope you forgive me, Ivy. Because I won’t stop…’
Ivy, on the other hand, never expected them to stop, but she has her limit; it was just that they hadn’t pushed her yet…
