CHAPTER THIRTY
GOODBYE MR. LIAM TURNER
Alice’s POV.
“I said sign it!” He pressed the gun to my forehead even more, and before I could stop myself, I signed the first page. Almost immediately, a tear slid down my cheek and dropped onto the paper, wetting it. I flipped through the next page and signed it as well, my tears almost soaking the paper.
Liam snatched the paper away from me as soon as he saw I was done and stepped away from me. He opened his secret safe and kept the document in it along with the gun.
“Now that all this is officially over and I’ve gotten what I want, get your sister and you both should get out of my house,” he said softly.
I had divorced him. He made me divorce him, and now he wanted me out of his life.
“I said get out of my house!” He yelled at me, his voice echoing through the room.
I stumbled back, my legs barely able to support me. I felt like I was in a nightmare, one that I couldn’t wake up from. The man I had loved with all my heart was now a stranger, a monster.
I got up on my feet and made for the door, but I suddenly stopped halfway, opening it. “I never cared about you being a beast, Liam, but with what you’ve done, I promise you will regret it. You will come begging for my forgiveness, but by then, it will be too late as I will never forgive you.” A tear slid down my cheek as I opened the door and stormed out.
_________
I stepped into my room and immediately headed for my wardrobe. I pulled it open and brought out my traveling box. I zipped it open and began folding my clothes into it. My fingers were trembling, and my eyes were completely filled with tears. They kept rolling down my cheeks, and I kept wiping them away. I would not cry for someone who doesn’t even care about me.
I shut the wardrobe and pulled out a drawer where my jewelry was kept. I emptied the contents into my box before placing the drawer back. As I pulled out the last drawer, my heart sank. There it was, our wedding picture. The happiest day of my life now felt like the worst betrayal.
I picked up the picture, my hands shaking. How had it come to this? How had we gone from that blissful moment to this hellish nightmare? I felt a sob rise in my throat, but I swallowed it down. I couldn’t afford to break down now.
I stared at the picture for a while before clutching it to my chest and then I cried like a baby, letting all my emotions out. I suddenly stopped crying and wiped off my tears. “Get out of my house,” Liam’s voice resounded in my head and my blood began boiling with rage. I stared at the picture I held and angrily tore it into two halves, right in between Liam and me, separating the picture into Liam and me, respectively. I tossed the part with Liam away and dumped mine into my box before zipping it close.
I was on the verge of leaving his house but there was one last thing to be done before that. I stormed into Emily’s room, only to find her dancing crazily to a song. As soon as she noticed me, she stopped dancing and turned off the song. I ignored her whole existence and made my way to her wardrobe. I pulled out her traveling bag and started pouring all her stuff into it.
“What are you doing?” she questioned, but I ignored her.
“What are you planning on doing with my stuff?” she yelled, but I still ignored her..
My eyes scanned her room, ensuring nothing was left behind. I grabbed her box and dragged it out of the room, heading downstairs. Emily followed, her voice growing desperate.
“Where are you taking my stuff?” she cried, her words echoing in the empty house. I opened the door and threw her belongings outside.
“Does that answer your question, Elizabeth?” I asked mockingly. I grabbed her hand, despite her fearful protests.
“What are you doing?” she pleaded, her eyes wide with terror. My grip tightened as I flung her outside, and she fell hard onto the ground.
“Get out of here!” I snarled, my voice filled with venom. She scrambled to her feet, clasping her hands together in desperation.
“Please, Alice, don’t do this. I have nowhere else to go. Just do it for the sake that we are sisters,” she begged, her voice breaking.
“No,” I replied coldly. “You’ve never considered me your sister, but now you want me to consider you one? What a joke.” I let out a bitter laugh. “Goodbye, Elizabeth.”
With that, I slammed the door in her face. I didn’t care if she was left in the cold. I had been through enough.
I made my way back into my room and took my box before making my way downstairs. I was leaving, leaving the Turner mansion.
But then memories started clicking in and I felt my heart grow heavy with emotions. Memories of how much fun we had in the park clouded my head and I felt like collapsing to the ground and cry my heart out.
It was over, I was no longer Mrs. Turner. Me, years back would have been over the moon about this but now, I really want to stay. I want to remain Mrs. Turner cause I really do love him.
I made my way to the entrance, my heart heavy with what had happened. I glanced around the house one last time, a flood of memories crashing over me. Tears blurred my vision as I slammed the door behind me, leaving behind the life I once knew.
I stepped into the night, the chill of the evening air mingling with the coldness in my heart. I was leaving Liam Turner behind, but the pain and betrayal would linger. Goodbye, Liam Turner.
