Chapter 523: No Escape!

Book:Fallen Heir Rising Published:2024-9-11

Elder Ahmed’s words caused an uproar, and everyone turned to look at Patriarch Rodney and Wizard Eric. A family member accusing another family member-this was going to be interesting.
“Elder Ahmed, you traitorous dog! How dare you betray us!” Patriarch Rodney shouted angrily.
“Hmph, you harbored outsiders, which is a capital offense! I’m merely upholding justice.”
“Besides, you’re unfit to be the patriarch. The Chieftain has already promised me that once this matter is resolved, I will be the new leader of White Miao Village!”
Elder Ahmed sneered, looking righteous.
He had long been displeased with Rodney and Eric Shepard. Now that he had the chance, he was determined to seize the position of patriarch.
“You…!” Patriarch Rodney was so furious he almost spat blood. Wizard Eric, however, remained silent and indifferent, as he saw no point in arguing at this stage.
“Wizard Eric, what a clever trick you played,” Wesley sneered.
“Now that the truth is out, do with us as you will.”
Wizard Eric replied coldly.
“Punishing you is inevitable, but not just yet.”
“Soon, the outsider will arrive. I’ve set up an inescapable trap here. This time, I’ll make an example out of him!”
“Let everyone see the consequences of harboring outsiders!”
Wesley shouted angrily.
“Hmph, how do you know he will come?” Wizard Eric asked coldly.
Wesley sneered and said, “I captured the woman he loves. How could he not come?!”
“As the Chieftain, you are despicable and cunning!” Wizard Eric and Rodney stood up and pointed at Wesley, cursing.
“Still so defiant at death’s door! Men, tie them up!”
Immediately, several Black Miao strongmen came in and tied Rodney and Eric Shepard to their seats. Their struggles were futile, and they could only glare at Wesley with hatred.
“Chieftain, please reconsider. Patriarch Rodney and Wizard Eric have made significant contributions to Miao Territory and are highly respected. Punishing them might cause public outrage!”
Some leaders allied with White Miao Village pleaded for Rodney and Eric Shepard.
“Silence! Our ancestors left a warning: outsiders are treacherous and cannot be befriended. Harboring outsiders is a capital offense!”
“Now, they may escape death but not punishment! They must face tribal law! Anyone who dares to plead for them will be punished alongside them!”
Wesley slammed the table and shouted angrily.
The other leaders dared not speak further and could only shake their heads in resignation.
At this point, Rodney and Eric Shepard had no regrets. Instead, they were grateful to Quentin for winning first place in the Big Game for White Miao Village, raising its prestige in Miao Territory.
They hadn’t expected Ahmed to betray them for the position of patriarch. All their plans were now in vain!
Their only hope was that Quentin and Eileen would leave Miao Territory quickly. Coming here would mean certain death!
Meanwhile, Quentin and Eileen had descended the mountain and arrived at the Black Miao Village market. After some inquiries, they finally reached a tall inn with a large signboard reading “Breim Inn.”
“Eileen, let’s split up. I’ll go inside to find Cerys while you check the surroundings.”
Quentin said.
“Understood, my lord.” Eileen immediately set off, and Quentin entered Breim Inn.
The inn was bustling with people eating meat and drinking wine.
“Hey, isn’t that the guy who won first place in the Big Game yesterday?”
“That’s him! He was amazing yesterday!”
“Why is he here alone? Should we invite him for a drink?”
Seeing Quentin enter, a few burly men drinking at a table started discussing.
The innkeeper recognized Quentin and warmly greeted him. “You must be Webb, the winner of yesterday’s Big Game, famous throughout Miao Territory!”
Quentin nodded slightly and said calmly, “Innkeeper, you’re too kind.”
“Is there a woman named Cerys here?”
The innkeeper’s eyes flickered as if he remembered something. He smiled and said, “Of course, she’s been waiting for you. Please follow me.”
The innkeeper then led Quentin upstairs.
Outside the inn, Eileen had finished checking the surroundings and noticed many Black Miao strongmen lurking around as if waiting for something.
To avoid alarming them, Eileen blended back into the crowd.
Quentin followed the innkeeper to the top floor of the inn. The corridor was about ten meters long with rooms on both sides. He could hear people talking inside but couldn’t make out what they were saying.
At the end of the corridor was a door. Quentin followed the innkeeper towards it, his brows furrowing as he sensed danger.
At the door at the end of the corridor, the innkeeper smiled and said, “Webb, your guest is waiting inside. Please go in; I’ll head back downstairs.”
Quentin nodded silently and gently pushed open the door, wondering why Cerys would be here.
Inside was a spacious and bright hall. The people sitting there were not Cerys but various Miao Village leaders.
Quentin was puzzled. Seeing Rodney and Eric Shepard tied to their seats only added to his confusion. Everyone else was equally shocked to see him.
Seeing Quentin arrive, Wesley sneered and said, “You finally came, outsider Quentin!”
The room erupted in shock at Wesley’s words. The Big Game’s first-place winner was an outsider?
No wonder Quentin seemed unfamiliar during the Huashan Festival!
“Enough talk! Where is Cerys?” Quentin demanded angrily.
“Hmph, you’re trapped now and still worried about others?”
“Come out!” Wesley shouted.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Heavy footsteps echoed from all around as numerous Black Miao strongmen entered, surrounding the hall. There were about fifty or sixty of them, all armed with blades.
The other leaders were frightened by the scene and moved closer to Wesley.
“Quentin, run!” Rodney and Eric Shepard shouted. Even Quentin couldn’t fight so many people!
Quentin remained calm and composed. He had anticipated that things wouldn’t be as simple as they seemed when he came up.
With Wesley and others here, it was clear that Cerys had been captured by Black Miao Village.
Wesley sneered with bloodshot eyes and a ferocious expression. Pointing at Quentin, he shouted angrily:
“Run? The inn is surrounded by my men. Where can you run to today?”
“You despicable outsider! Yesterday you broke my son’s legs and insulted my dignity.”
“Today I will ensure you die in a foreign land!”
“Seize him!”
