Callie quickly pulled Litzy’s hand back, feeling a bit helpless. “It’s okay, I don’t mind treating everyone.”
She didn’t want to confront anyone at this moment because refusing would be embarrassing.
Litzy clearly understood and whispered something angrily in her ear.
Callie smiled lightly, willing to play along. “I’ll go with you.”
“No need.”
There were many coffee shops in the commercial district. The wind had been raging these past few days, cutting like knives against their faces. Callie tightened her coat.
She ordered a cup of each flavor.
Handing them out one by one, she marked one cup separately, opened the lid to let it cool, which surprised the server.
Finally, they gave her a large foam box to carry them.
But even with the convenience, it was still over twenty cups…
Callie, being small in stature, looked somewhat comical carrying them, walking in the wind like a waddling penguin.
Moreover, because her hand hadn’t fully healed, it was quite difficult, attracting a lot of attention.
Callie stopped to rest for a moment when she was almost there, touching her nose. She had to admit, it was a bit embarrassing.
At that moment, Jaquan, dressed casually, stepped out of a nearby parked stretch Lincoln. He paused when he saw Callie’s figure. Cora followed his gaze and said in surprise to Nelson in the back seat, “Mr. Oconnor, isn’t that…?”
Meanwhile, at Alayah’s location, the director called it a day, and everyone could finally rest.
Some were discussing whether to go for hotpot.
Alayah sat in the dressing room removing her makeup. Litzy, with her work badge hanging around her neck, played games on her phone out of boredom, occasionally checking the time and wondering why Callie hadn’t returned yet.
Alayah let the makeup artist do her work while she looked at Litzy through the mirror.
Suddenly, the manager rushed in, glanced instinctively at the woman in the corner, patted Alayah on the shoulder, and whispered something in her ear.
Alayah was very surprised. “Really?”
The manager nodded.
Alayah’s expression grew complicated. She abandoned the idea of wrapping up for the day and suddenly pushed away the staff member removing her makeup. She quickly picked up lipstick and an eyebrow pencil to redo her makeup.
In the ensuing flurry of activity, she asked the manager, “Do I look okay?”
The manager wiped her eyeliner. “Don’t worry, you look great. Be confident.”
Only then did Alayah stand up, lift her skirt, and hurriedly rush out.
She even forgot to grab a coat.
The manager had just informed her that Mr. Oconnor was arriving soon.
Litzy was drawn by the rush of wind Alayah created as she ran past. She looked over in surprise, put away her phone, and quickly followed.
Alayah ran anxiously, her face flushing at the thought of that man.
Not paying attention to where she was going, she turned a corner and bumped into something head-on as she exited the door. She took two steps back and suddenly felt a lot of liquid pouring over her!
“Ah!”
A scream!
Everyone looked over.
The space was filled with a rich coffee aroma. Alayah stood there in disarray; liquid had stained her dress, and her fair skin on her chest turned red from the scalding heat. The pain brought tears streaming down her face.
And standing opposite her was Callie!
Her face was full of shock.
Having struggled to bring everything up here and almost making it, she looked up only to see Alayah rushing over. She couldn’t even dodge… What a mess.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Someone finally reacted and shouted, “Help quickly!”
