“When I saw this photo, wasn’t it Callie? It frightened me! Why didn’t you tell me?”
Grandfather was furious, almost losing his temper on the other end of the line.
Nelson had a headache. He hadn’t expected this to make the newspapers. He patiently reassured him, “Grandfather, Callie is fine. It’s just a fractured arm, and she’s already been discharged. Don’t worry, take care of yourself.”
“What nonsense are you talking about? That’s your wife! A car accident is no small matter, and you’re downplaying it like this. A fracture is a big deal; it takes a hundred days to heal properly!” Grandfather was even angrier, almost out of breath. “Give the phone to Callie, I want to talk to her!”
Nelson gave the woman beside him a look. She couldn’t hold the phone, so he placed it by her ear without moving.
“Callie, are you alright? Tell me honestly.” Grandfather’s tone softened dramatically, becoming very gentle.
Callie braced herself and replied, “Grandfather, I’m really fine. The newspapers exaggerated everything. Don’t believe them.”
“It’s really just a fracture?”
“Really, I’ve already been discharged and am preparing to rest at home.”
“That’s good, that’s good.” Grandfather suddenly raised his voice again, “Nelson.”
Nelson responded lazily, “Yes?”
“A fracture is no small matter. I’ve sent Bianca to the Paucaster Villa Complex to take care of Callie. She should be there by now, keep an eye on things.”
At these words, Callie choked on her own saliva, struggling to suppress her cough.
He frowned deeply, “Why go to such lengths to send Bianca over? There are plenty of servants at Paucaster Villa Complex.”
Grandfather sneered, “What does that matter? Bianca has taken care of me for years, very meticulously. I trust her to take care of Callie.”
“What about you?”
“There are plenty of servants at the old house too. I can manage on my own. Right now, Callie’s health is the most important.” Grandfather was very assertive and hung up immediately after speaking.
Nelson pressed his temples and mocked, “Grandfather really cares about you.”
Callie was completely overwhelmed by the sudden attention. She panicked, “What do we do? If Bianca stays at Paucaster Villa Complex, we won’t be able to hide it anymore.”
Bianca was different from the other servants at Paucaster Villa Complex. She always believed that the two were genuinely married and in love.
Seeing her panic, Nelson remained much calmer, “We’ll have to act like a real couple.”
“Act? How?” Callie was at a loss between laughter and tears. The car had already come to a steady stop at the entrance of Paucaster Villa Complex. Outside stood a row of servants, with Bianca at the forefront, smiling warmly.
“Go out and buy some time. I’ll have the others move your things into the master bedroom.”
“The master bedroom?” Callie was forcibly helped out of the car by him before she could ask further questions and had already reached the front.
“Bianca, you’re here.” Nelson greeted her respectfully.
Bianca’s eyes were only on Callie, clearly worried, “Oh dear, it’s that serious? Callie, come in quickly and sit down.”
Callie swallowed hard and forced a smile, “Bianca, I’m really sorry to trouble you. Uh… these are the doctor’s instructions for me. Could you take a look?”
The two entered the villa while Nelson gave indifferent orders to the remaining staff, “Move Madam’s things into my room. Quickly.”
“Yes.”
Meanwhile, Callie led Bianca into the kitchen, watching as the servants busied themselves upstairs. “Bianca, I like medicinal cuisine. Could you make some for me?”
“Medicinal cuisine requires a lot of ingredients. I’ll need to go shopping for them. Wait for me, Callie.” With that, Bianca hurriedly left.
