Chapter 80 If You Do Not Wanna Die, Then Try

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-9-10

“Mr. Oconnor is my boss, I’m not eligible to get his attention.”
Jaquan poured another glass of wine and turned it to her. Meanwhile, he pointed at the person at the door, saying, “Someone has dreamed about it for years but never succeeded. Compared to her, I would like to be on your side.”
A woman handed a document to Nelson who signed on it quickly after a scan.
That was Cora.
“Thanks for your favor.” Callie stared at the glass of wine. She clenched her teeth to drink it up again. She looked hot with a red in the corner of her mouth.
She was not good at drinking, so she would soon get drunk if Jaquan kept pouring wine for her.
When Jaquan was about to pour the third glass of wine, Nelson was back in long, loping steps. He said in a neutral tone, “You seem to have a good impression on my staff,” then he turned to Callie and said, “Mr. Scott is always considerate towards females that he never forces girls to drink. I think he must think highly of you.”
Callie immediately added, “It’s my honor.”
“My assistant told me that she saw you in the reservoir of southeast last week. I’m surprised that you make progress in fishing.” Nelson pulled out a cigarette but he didn’t light it.
Jaquan leaned back and replied without fear, “I have to join. It’s all for the project.”
“Humph? I heard that Group Scott don’t have enough cash to buy out Vankey. You are not necessarily going to win.”
“Nelson, you don’t have a crystal ball. Currently, Vankey is more than hundred million dollars in debt. Are you able to pay it off?”
Nelson snapped the lighter, and the cigarette was lit. He said in a confident and convincing tone, “Piece of cake.”
Callie sat by and watches. By listening to this word, she must admit that his inadvertent aggressiveness is unrivaled, even if Jaquan cannot match though he is domineering.
After a transitory silence, Jaquan took his outwear and is about to leave. Before he stepped out of the room, he asked, “Nelson, when will you get married?”
Nelson replied after a while, with the cigarette between his fingers, “I need to find a girlfriend first. I’m not as fortunate as you. There are always beautiful girls around you.”
Jaquan threw a meaningful glance at Callie, “She is good.”
Then he walked out of the room in strides. Everything stopped at where it should.
Callie closed her eyes and almost collapsed onto the ground. But she quickly locked the door and asked Nelson who was smoking, “He threatened you to give up Vankey to him. Did he know about marriage?”
It was obvious after she went through it tonight.
Nelson raised his eyebrows negligently, “You think?”
Callie clenched her fists in cold sweat, “I’m sorry I don’t know it was Mr. Scott in the room and it will lead to such a bad effect.”
Nelson kept silent for a long while, seemingly he was pondering.
“If I didn’t lead you in, you will be abducted by his guys.” His voice was low within a bit of anger.
Callie knew the consequence of eavesdropping trade secrets. But she didn’t mean to do so. Who knew it soundproofs that poorly.
Such being the case, she had nothing to do but apologizes, “I will kill my curiosity next time.”
“Next time? No way,” Nelson put off the smoke and got close to Callie, “in order to save you, I gave one of my secrets to Jaquan. What’s your compensation?”
Callie was dumb for a while and put on a slyly wry face, “… Maybe I can change his mind if I talk with him?”
“If you don’t wanna die, then give it try!” Nelson threatened her in a deep voice.
