Nelson kept his word. He went to work with Callie in the following days.
Their schedules didn’t match. Callie considered herself as a bother so that she would not like to keep him waiting.
However, she didn’t expect that Nelson is an obsessive morning person. Therefore, she had to get up 2 hours earlier. In that case, when Nelson was dealing with his work, Callie just dozed off by his side.
As a result, she was forced to win the first place for the game of arriving at the office in design department.
“Callie, did your dad get any worse?” Litzy couldn’t help but ask, after being at war with herself for a long while, “backed” by the expectant faces of the members of Team B.
Though Callie felt drowsy, she made a complaint “What do you mean? He cannot be better.”
“Then why have you been the first one in the office and the last one out recently? You are gonna to be a model worker, aren’t you? Even if bees need a rest… Or are you trying to impress Skye with your sincerity so she will give the order from the beverage company to you?
“I just love working. Can’t I?” Callie kept denying it with her eyes hardly open.
Litzy showed a look of incredibility and said, “Come on. You never worked overtime before but at least two hours recently. Mr. Oconner should award you for being so diligent. What’s going on with you?”
Callie couldn’t even pull a wry face. She almost ran out of her energy.
In fact, her two-hour overtime work was not that hard. After most of the staff were off duty, she would go to the top floor where Nelson was working and await him in his lounge-by sleeping-until he got off work.
Nelson got a lot on his plate. Not only did he have teleconferences and videoconferences in turn, but also, he needed to read contacts, sign, reviews projects, be the gatekeeper of product details, etc.
But the point was that Nelson never seemed to be tired that he, after work, could even knock on the door and sneered at Callie. “Did you sleep well on my couch?”
Usually, Callie would wake out from the sleep and asked, “T…. Time to get off work?”
Then Nelson would show her a look of feeling hopeless, “I don’t think that you can have any of those 5 cases of ice cream before they expire.”
Thinking of it, with her mouth quivering in the suspicion of a smile, Callie replied, “I dare say, in this company, no one can win Mr. Oconnor in the field of overworking.”
Luckily, the two-hour “overwork” these days was not a waste. Callie made progress in a recent follow-up project. It was from a winery over a century year old which was looking for an outsourcing cooperation. They were very satisfied with Callie’s idea and hoped she could get involved in the cover design of their products.
If this project was done, Callie would be rewarded with a cash bonus and the 5 cases of ice cream placed in the refrigerator in the Paucaster Villa Complex. Of course, the ice cream was much more important than the money! It was almost there! She wouldn’t allow them to spoil!
“Callie, what are you giggling at? You look like a fool.” Skye knocked at Callie’s desk with some documents impatiently.
Callie recovered from her daydream. She made a quiet cough and turned her face back to Skye with a confusing look.
Skye threw the documents onto the desk and leaned. “You long for the order of the beverage company, don’t you? Here you are.”
Callie raised her eyebrows and asked, “I have asked for it for many times, but you were not willing to give it up. Why do you give it to me now? ”
The company had a bright prospect so the one who succeeds to make a deal with it will become well-known in the world of advertisement design.
Callie reckoned that Skye wanted to keep the chance for herself, so she gave it up and intended to engage fully with the project of the winery. She totally had no idea why Skye suddenly made such a decision.
There must be more to it.
“Wow, interesting. You kept asking for it but hesitate now. Callie, tell me, what do you want? “
