Rosiley felt sadness in her heart. She raised her hand and caressed her back, saying gently, “Yayoi, you don’t need to apologize to me. Although I don’t support this relationship, I may not be right. I just don’t want you to get hurt. But… you have suffered recently. It’s better to be in a passionate relationship than to suffer. It doesn’t matter what the final outcome is.”
“Rosiley… ” Yayoi hugged her tightly, tears rolling involuntarily down her cheeks.
“Rosiley, you don’t know. It’s because of you that I have the courage to try with this relationship.”
Hearing her sobs, Rosiley’s eyes also grew moist. She sniffed and patted her back, smiling. “That’s enough. You’re too big for tears. Morphy will laugh at you if he sees this.”
She raised her head and looked at Morphy to one side of them. The latter smiled at her gratefully. “Thank you, sister-in-law.”
Rosiley raised her slender brows. “Don’t thank me. If you ever mistreat Yayoi or make her cry, I won’t let you off easily.”
Morphy smiled. “I know, sister-in-law.”
Rosiley smiled and then pushed Yayoi, who was embracing her, away. Seeing her tearstained face, she could not help but smile, shaking her head. “Yayoi, your make-up has all been ruined by your tears.”
When she heard this, Yayoi could not help but laugh loudly. “I don’t put on much make-up, so how could I have ruined it?”
She raised her hand to wipe away her tears and continued, “Rosiley, I have something to say to you.”
“Okay, you can tell me now.”
“Well… ”
Just as she was about to open her mouth, someone barged in through the office door and an impatient figure dashed in.
“Morphy, what did you do to Yayoi?”
It was Ying Xiaoxiao.
Rosiley and Yayoi exchanged glances and burst out laughing. They looked helplessly at Ying Xiaoxiao in a towering rage.
The secretary put the coffee on the tea table, then walked out, closing the door gently.
“Yayoi, is your brain okay?” After the secretary had left, Ying Xiaoxiao immediately asked.
It had been only one night, and yet she was together… with Morphy?
If she were not out of her mind, she surely would not do such a ridiculous thing.
“Xiaoxiao, I… ” Yayoi wanted to explain but did not know what to say. She could only purse her lips and cast an imploring look at Rosiley.
Rosiley raised her eyebrows and explained for her. “Xiaoxiao, Yayoi really likes Morphy. since the two of them like each other, it doesn’t make sense to keep them apart.”
“Rosiley, you have a problem too?” Ying Xiaoxiao glared at her in disbelief.
“No, what I mean is that it’s their own business. We are only outsiders. We can’t say anything.”
Her words made Ying Xiaoxiao frantic. “What do you mean by ‘we are only outsiders’?” We’re Yayoi’s best friends! True, they like each other, but Rosiley, don’t forget that Morphy has a fiancée! A relationship without any hope of a happy ending should be abandoned!”
Seeing Ying Xiaoxiao’s enraged face, Rosiley could not help but laugh. She consoled her gently. “Xiaoxiao, don’t be angry. Hear me out, won’t you?”
Ying Xiaoxiao curled her lips up in disdain, saying unhappily, “Fine, explain it to me. It’ll be best if you can convince me to accept their relationship.”
“It’s true that Morphy has a fiancée, but so what? Life is full of unexpected encounters and uncertainties. You really think Morphy will marry his fiancée in the end?”
Ying Xiaoxiao frowned. “Won’t they?”
How could a rich and powerful family like the Shens’ go back on their word? The marriage was bound to take place.
Rosiley seemed to have read her mind. She smiled a little and continued. “It’s true that Old Master Shen has decreed their marriage, but it’s just an engagement. Must Morphy really obey him? Not necessarily. An engagement is just a commitment, but human beings are alive. As long as Morphy refuses to marry her, the marriage cannot take place.”
When she said that, she lifted her eyes to look at Morphy. “Morphy, Sachin told me he could not get your grandfather to annul the engagement, but I was just thinking, if you really love Yayoi and want to be together with her, nothing can hinder you.”
Morphy furrowed his brows, pursing his lips thoughtfully.
