The Parliament’s Urgent Meeting

Wayne sighed for the umpteenth time as he watched Olive giggling and taking the thousandth picture of the day. Maybe he should not have gotten her the most expensive and luxurious phone created by his pack. The B-Cell was a sign of riches and people, especially those in other packs held it in high esteem. He thought to gift it to his mate since she was without a mobile and couldn’t communicate with any of them yet.
If only he knew she would just take a thousand selfies instead, maybe he would have postponed it.
“What do you think about this one? Is it pretty?” she asked and shoved the phone into his face so he could look at the picture she just took at the terrace.
“Olive, you’re highly photogenic. All your pictures would be fine even if they’re blurry,” he stated with so much tiredness laden in his voice.
“Yeah, of course. That’s why I’m going to take as many pictures as I can. Because they’re all going to be very pretty,” she said and giggled again. Wayne rubbed his temples and sighed.
“Aren’t you going to at least spend some time with me? We couldn’t even have a lovely breakfast together because you wouldn’t stop operating your phone,” he complained sincerely.
“Haven’t we been having lots of lovely breakfasts together? Just let me love my B-Cell today, okay?”
“This is B-Cell craziness, Olive.”
“Call it whatever you wanna call it, babe. I don’t mind,” she replied and winked at him.
Wayne’s own phone vibrated in his pocket and he stood up from the bed to remove it. He saw the message from Jake and frown deeply.
Olive was taking a selfie at the bar so she did not notice the change in his expression. He began to walk out of the room and she only noticed him when he opened the door.
“Hey, babe. Where are you going?” she asked but he didn’t answer and just walked out. She shrugged and walked back to her vanity to take another mirror selfie. There were lots of mirrors in the bedroom which were mostly walls and Olive had taken pictures all around it. And the worst thing was that she changed outfits after each ten pictures. And currently, she had over a hundred pictures in the phone already. Another thing, she had missed lunch because of the phone.
Wayne walked into the board room which was above his floor of the castle with two of his guards from his door. Jake, Terry and a few other officials were already seated. They all got on their feet immediately Wayne stepped into the room and Jake walked to him.
“What is going on?” Wayne questioned in a whisper. Jake sighed softly and glanced at the men behind.
“The parliament has called for an urgent meeting regarding your Mating Ritual like I said in the text message,” Jake answered and gulped. Wayne peered at him and Jake returned the gaze. They were communicating.
Wayne nodded after getting the answer to the question he had asked Jake through their mind link. They both walked to the table and Wayne took his position at the head. The rest of the officials also sat down. Each one of them had a tight face and looked serious.
Wayne smirked evilly. He didn’t know what they wanted exactly but he had an idea. The two guards that accompanied him stood behind him and watched every member of the room like hawks.
A few seconds later and the rest of Wayne’s personal men entered the room. Their faces were so scary that even a newborn would cry by just looking at them. Jericho whose face used to be so cheerful and cute looked as deadly as a demon. The blonde haired one was a two-faced individual and he was currently wearing that second face right now. Shem’s jaws were clenched tight one would think they’d hurt. Only Crusoe wore his normal expression, but his eyes bore wisdom and strength like an eagle’s.
All the men were dressed in their usual BBAish outfits. Leather jackets and boots that looked like they would crunch metal like it was a cookie. They situated themselves behind Wayne and the guards in suit had to go stand at the corners of the wall to give the Wayne’s elite men space.
Each minute, members of the parliament would troop in and the numbers surprised the men, except Wayne. Officials, both men and women took seats at the huge rectangular table until all the seats were almost filled up. The officials were not limited to the Head Officials of Aspen City but other cities and provinces were present. Finally, when it seemed they were all present, Wayne cleared his throat and sat up.
“It is nice to see you all in one place again,” he began and gave them a smirk. Their faces were all in frowns or serious expressions that they couldn’t even respond to his greeting.
“Now, to what do I owe this urgent meeting?” he asked. Everyone was quiet at first but then, someone sitting close to Wayne stood up.
“Alpha Knight, we are aware that you have found your mate even though you never announced it to the parliament officially which was very wrong of you,” he began and the officials began to nod like lizards and made affirmative sounds amongst themselves. Alpha Knight shot them all a look and they stayed still immediately.
“The preparations for this year’s Mating Ritual is almost over and yet you have not told us who this woman you’re mated to is. Neither have we gotten any information regarding her background or which pack she is even from. This action of yours is honestly frowned upon by the Parliament Of Balendin Pack,” the man added and the officials nodded again.
“Well, my apologies for that. I was going to invite you all to a special banquet in two days time to officially announce it because everything is going so fast. But since you’ve already ruined the surprise, I suppose we could cancel it,” Alpha Knight responded with a casual shrug of the shoulders. The man cleared his throat with a little bit of embarrassment but quickly stood upright again.
“We would not have responded to you anyway, because we got the information we wanted already. And we even doubt you would have told us this particular information,” he replied the Alpha. Wayne looked up at the Media and Public Relations Minister with a raised eyebrow.
“Go straight to the point,” he ordered and the middle aged man cleared his throat again.
“Your mate, Olive Roger has been fished out as a member of the well-known Vrek Cult and a disgraceful element to the name of Balendin. Such a person is not and can never be fit for our Alpha and our pack. If the pack members should hear this, they would be war considering their high taste. We hereby, as a united parliament, reject this Olive Roger as our future luna.”
“Yes!” the officials of the parliament echoed after the Media and Public Relations Minister.
