Jasper had always been arrogant and conceited. To see him now kneeling before her was like a scene in a dream.
Was Jasper truly afraid of Kayden?
Georgia instinctively glanced back at Kayden. He maintained his usual composed demeanor, as if everything was unfolding according to plan. His calmness was suspicious!
“Madam, I’ve brought you this Jade Dew Frost Pill from my residence,” Beckett said, presenting an exquisite box to Georgia. “It’s renowned for its beautifying effects. I hope you’ll accept it.”
The Jade Dew Frost Pill was a priceless treasure, rumored to be extremely rare. Scarlett stood nearby, utterly shocked. She could hardly believe that the legendary pill was right before her eyes. But what astounded her even more was Beckett’s inexplicable behavior!
At this point, Beckett didn’t dare address Kayden directly, knowing he lacked the status to do so. He could only try his best to curry favor with Georgia.
“That’s enough!” Kayden suddenly stood up from the sofa, his tone frigid. “Take your things and get out. We need to rest.”
Beckett visibly flinched before hastily nodding. “Yes, sir. My apologies for the intrusion.”
Kayden waved him off impatiently, and Beckett obediently left the Adams residence.
Once outside, Beckett realized his shirt was soaked with sweat, his face glistening with perspiration.
Inside, Kayden announced, “I’m going to rest now,” and retreated to his room without waiting for a response.
Scarlett and Harvey exchanged bewildered glances in the living room.
“Is Beckett afraid of Kayden?” Harvey asked, puzzled.
“No way!” Scarlett retorted. “You know who Kayden is – just some fool! Didn’t you see how Beckett kept apologizing to our daughter earlier?”
A thought suddenly struck her. “I’ve got it,” she exclaimed, smacking her thigh. “It must be Tony’s doing. Tony must have called Beckett.”
Georgia said nothing, silently walking into her room.
Inside, Kayden was already lying on his bedroll. As she entered, Georgia asked, “Kayden, is Beckett afraid of you?”
Kayden was tired of explaining. He’d already said too much. Rather than arousing Georgia’s suspicions further, he chose to sidestep the question. “I told you, from today on, I’ll give you the world. You’ll be the happiest woman alive.”
Georgia frowned, eyeing Kayden with a mix of exasperation and doubt.
Suddenly, she seemed to remember something. Biting her lip, she said, “Kayden, don’t take what I said earlier about liking you seriously. I only said that to keep them from kicking you out. To be honest, I’m not even sure if I really like you or not.”
Kayden remained silent, lost in thought. He trusted his judgment; this girl was merely trying to conceal her true feelings.
That night, Georgia couldn’t sleep. She kept thinking, speculating about Kayden’s identity and grappling with her own feelings for him.
A week passed. Georgia had returned to her normal routine and stopped questioning Kayden about his identity. However, her attitude towards him had noticeably softened.
On this particular day, Kayden was once again enjoying tea at the Hiphia Tippy Restaurant.
He sat on a stool, meditating. Beside him stood a man with ramrod-straight posture, dark skin, and an imposing build. The man stood motionless, like a vigilant sentry. The aura he exuded was far beyond that of an ordinary person. His mere presence was enough to make others tremble involuntarily.
Even the waitress bringing tea couldn’t bring herself to look directly at him, so intimidating was his presence.
Soon, beads of sweat appeared on Kayden’s face. He slowly opened his eyes.
“Puh!” A mouthful of blood spurted from his lips.
Seeing this, the muscular man immediately stepped forward with a cloth, concern evident in his voice. “My lord! Are you alright?”
Kayden took the cloth, wiping the blood from his mouth and the sweat from his brow. He stretched out his hands experimentally. It was done. He had regained 30% of his power.
This was likely the limit of what he could achieve here.
Looking at his hands, he asked, “What have you found out about the matter I asked you to investigate?”
“We’ve confirmed it, my Lord. Wood did indeed suddenly appear at the Henderson family residence in Inassea two years ago. As you know, without you, no one in this world can fully track Wood’s movements. If she intentionally goes into hiding, we have no way of finding her.”
Kayden nodded slightly. The Zodiac Generals certainly had that capability.
He continued, “So you’re saying that after I left the war zone, Wood disappeared for a year before suddenly reappearing?”
“That’s correct!” Greedy Wolf nodded emphatically.
Kayden acknowledged this with a nod. “Well, I understand. You may go now.”
Greedy Wolf hesitated, then said, “My Lord, the great war is over. I request to remain by your side, ready to serve you.”
Kayden instinctively glanced back at the earnest Greedy Wolf. He understood Greedy Wolf’s intentions. Given Kayden’s current injuries, many tasks would be difficult for him to handle personally, so Greedy Wolf was offering to stay and assist.
Greedy Wolf had previously served as Kayden’s subordinate, responsible for relaying Kayden’s commands. In modern terms, he was essentially Kayden’s secretary. After Kayden’s disappearance, it was Greedy Wolf who had managed to keep the army stable.
As for the eight Royal Regiments and the Zodiac Generals, their roles were different.
They were the combat units Kayden had personally established for the military region, forces that struck terror into the hearts of enemy armies. But their value was different from Greedy Wolf’s. While they were all Kayden’s direct subordinates, Greedy Wolf was capable of independent leadership.
For instance, if the military region faced a crisis, Greedy Wolf had the leadership skills to handle it.
“Alright,” Kayden replied indifferently. He did indeed need Greedy Wolf’s companionship.
Just then, a phone call came through.
“Master, my grandpa is in trouble!” Erika’s urgent voice came from the other end. “Where are you? Can you come over? Or give me your address, and I’ll come pick you up right away.”
Coleman was in trouble!
For someone of Coleman’s stature to face difficulties in a small place like Hiphia was quite surprising. He was a man widely respected throughout Hiphia, with extensive connections, considerable wealth, and impressive martial arts skills he had cultivated since childhood. The fact that such a person could run into trouble in Hiphia caught Kayden off guard.
“Mm. I’ll come myself,” Kayden replied before hanging up.
Coleman wasn’t a bad person, and he carried himself with a certain integrity. Kayden didn’t mind going to see what was wrong.
“My Lord, have you taken on a disciple?” Greedy Wolf couldn’t help but ask, having overheard the caller address Kayden as “Master.” He was curious about who might have the fortune to become the Defender of the South’s disciple.
“She’s not,” Kayden replied coldly.
He saw no need to explain further to Greedy Wolf and simply got up to leave.
Twenty minutes later, at the Vincent family compound.
The Vincent residence was in a state of chaos, with everyone inside visibly tense. Besides the Vincent family members, numerous prominent figures from Hiphia had gathered there, a testament to Coleman’s extensive connections.
Kayden stood among the crowd, calmly holding Coleman’s wrist to check his pulse.
He then opened Coleman’s shirt, revealing a red and purple handprint on his chest.
Without hesitation, Kayden produced a silver needle.
As he decisively inserted the needle near the handprint on Coleman’s chest, Coleman’s eldest son, Logan, stared at Kayden and asked Erika loudly, “Erika, who is this? Does he know how to treat illnesses?”
Just then, a middle-aged man entered from outside, followed by a doctor. This was Dr. Rodriguez, the physician who had been attending to Coleman and safeguarding his health.
Dr. Rodriguez’s eyes widened in shock when he saw Kayden.
The memory of Kayden killing someone was still fresh in his mind. That night on the top floor of the Myriad Tower, Kayden had killed that man right in front of him and several others.
Most importantly, Kayden had committed murder without any fear of imprisonment, as if taking a life was perfectly justified for him.
“Yeah, Erika, where did you find this young man?” Kade, Coleman’s second son, chimed in. “I’ve already called Dr. Rodriguez. We should let him take a look.”
Erika’s face was serious as she replied, “Uncle Logan, Uncle Kade, this is Kayden. Grandpa trusts him deeply.”
“Trust him? We’ve never even heard of him. Does he know how to treat illnesses?” Logan questioned skeptically.
Given Kayden’s youth, he certainly didn’t look like a practitioner of traditional medicine.
Erika nodded firmly. “He does. He’s the one who treated Grandpa’s old injury before.”
“Hmph! This is utterly irresponsible,” Kade said loudly. “You can’t just bring in some random person and expect them to cure your grandpa. Do you even know your grandpa’s illness? Get him out of here and let Dr. Rodriguez examine your grandfather.”
At that moment, Greedy Wolf, standing beside Kayden, turned to face Kade. He pulled out two short knives from his clothing and said coldly, “If any of you say another word, I’ll kill you all.”
Greedy Wolf’s tone was icy, his expression frigid, and a thick aura of bloodlust emanated from him.
The Vincent sons hesitated for a moment before exchanging glances.
Everyone fell silent, staring at Greedy Wolf in fear.
It was clear that Greedy Wolf wasn’t joking. If he said he would kill them, he absolutely meant it.
Soon after, Kayden stood up from the bed and said nonchalantly, “It’s done.”
As soon as he spoke, Erika rushed forward and asked, “Master, how is my grandpa’s condition?”
Kayden waved his hand dismissively. “It’s still due to internal injuries. What exactly happened to him?”
“Cough! Cough! Cough!” Before Erika could answer, Coleman broke into a fit of violent coughing, spitting out a mouthful of dark blood.
A moment later, Coleman slowly opened his eyes. When he saw Kayden standing in the hall, his eyes widened, and he immediately became deferential. “Mr. Scott! Why have you come?”
“Grandpa, I called Master here. I was so worried!” Erika said, her face flushed.
Coleman’s voice thundered, “How dare you! How could you trouble Mr. Scott with such a trivial matter?”
With those words, Coleman hurriedly struggled to get out of bed. He bowed deeply at a ninety-degree angle before Kayden and said, “Mr. Scott, I am so ashamed to have inconvenienced you once again!”
