JEROME
“Greetings, legendary Beta of Wolf Crest. It’s so nice to see you again.” She giggled, grinning at me.
“Bri… Brielle? What are you doing here?” My voice trembled while staring at this creepy woman, who remained squatted, running her right hand fingers on the metallic floor, side by side.
“Funny, I was going to ask you that question. What are you doing in my pack?” She threw the question back, tilting her head to the side.
To even speak became a problem. “How the hell did this woman get here? Was she the one behind the wheel? No, she doesn’t have that skill to drive a large truck like this. What if she’s with Alpha Argon?! ” I panicked within, dragging myself back and straight on my feet.
Surprisingly, Brielle chuckled at my behavior and said, “Don’t worry, Jerome. Argon isn’t here. You don’t need to be scared. It’s just you and me.” She smiled again, slowly rising to her feet.
Hearing this, even though I didn’t voice that out, I felt… Much better. “She must have noticed my fear through my face expression. And she’s not lying about Argon not being around. I can’t pick his scent, ” I observed, sniffing the air.
No single trace of the Alpha or his guards. Brielle was indeed by herself, alone with me!
“You… You were behind the wheel? ” I asked in surprise, fixing my eyes at her.
She proudly shrugged her shoulder and said, ” Guilty. Impressed, aren’t you?”
“Impressed?” I lifted my brow, finding her action to be foolish. She is all alone with me in the middle of nowhere currently, with no one around to see us. And not just with anyone, but with someone who tried to take her out completely.
Foolish! I smirked at her and said, “Of course, I am impressed with how stupid you can be, Brielle.” I boldly crossed my arms, swaying my head at her.
“You had the guts to steal an innocent man’s truck, all by yourself, just to… Wait, ” I paused, noticing something. “How did you know I was inside?” I questioned, getting suspicious.
As far as I remember, the only people I spotted around the company at this late hour was the security guards and the truck driver. Brielle isn’t supposed to be out at this time. She’s supposed to be at the mansion!
“I asked a question and you’re answering me with your questions? Isn’t that unjust, Jerome?” She smirked.
I don’t know what game she’s playing here, but I’m sure that something is off here. “You are not supposed to be out by this time. Does Alpha Argon know that his Luna is out in the dark with his unborn child, being all sneaky?” I dimmed my eyes at her, trying to understand what was going on.
With the way that man attacked me for just crawling towards his Luna, I’m sure he can’t leave her out of his sight, now that she’s expecting his heir.
“No, this must be a trap!” I pointed out, revealing my suspicion to Brielle. “You aren’t alone! Argon must have used you as a bait to get me. He’s around here, isn’t he?!”
“And you think you’ll be standing over there talking to me? You should know Argon by now. Or did the punch reset your brain?” She mocked, bringing up Argon’s attack from that party.
It was as if she could read everything that was going on in my mind. I… I don’t like the vibe I’m getting from this woman.
“Now, Beta…” She stretched out her hand. “I believe you have something that belongs to me in that dirty bag of yours,” She pointed out. “Bring out those documents or else you’ll regret ever stepping back into my pack.”
How did she know? This woman must have followed me around! But no one saw me getting into the truck. It was just me and the driver.
“You were just banished and the next thing that came to your mind was to steal from the same people who fed and gave you so much respect?” She uttered, lowering her hand down, tsking at me.
“The pain of being a failure. You used all your penny to spend a night at a filthy motel, since the ones who dragged you into their conniving scheme, kicked you out like the trash you are. Instead of making use of the skills you learnt while working at your Alpha’s company, you chose the one Estelle and Deron showed you? What a shame.”
“How did you know Alpha Deron kicked me out?” My eyes came large, staring at Brielle.
She smiled at me, giving no answer.
I know for a fact that I was all alone. She was still at the mansion with Argon, so how? HOW?!!
“If I tell you that I know all the things you and those foolish father and daughter have been doing, you might think I’m lying,” She giggled, taking a step forward.
“From the time you joined hands with them and tried to turn Argon against me, till now. I know about all your schemes with Estelle. Nothing…” She took another step closer, leaving my body shivering all of a sudden.
It wasn’t just me that was shaking, but… But my wolf! This is something I have never experienced before Brielle, but it’s not the first time my whole skin would rise at someone or… Something.
“Nothing is hidden from my eyes, Jerome. Every secrets you have been keeping from Argon, I know them all. I also know that you’ll be back here to do something nasty, that’s why I came prepared, waiting for your arrival,” She took another step.
On hearing this, I said, drawing back, ” You… You turned out to be devious. So all those innocence and holiness you kept displaying to the world is fake?!”
“Fake? Look who’s talking,” She cackled out, clapping her hands at me. “You and your friends always make me laugh, Beta. You call me devious, but the whole world knows that Brielle is an angel sent down from heaven.” She lifted her arms, like one worshipping the goddess.
“I have made a name for myself in the midst of tribulations. There’s no where you won’t go to and people won’t talk about me, the Luna of Wolf Crest and Red Wood pack. But when they hear Jerome, Estelle, Deron… All they think about is deceit, fraud, backstabbers. They feel so much hatred for you three, that they can’t wait to sink their claws into your flesh.” She described, swooping her hand down like a maniac.
I staggered back, meeting the metal wall with my back. Brielle noticed this and said, taking another step closer to me, “You already know that you no longer have a future… or should I say you have no chance of making a future for yourself.”
I noticed how she widened her eyes, letting out a creepy smile. What’s she thinking of?
“There’s no need to ask you for those documents. According to Argon, if you step back into Wolf Crest again, the punishment is… Death!” She grinned, rubbing her palm together.
“Yes, I’ll just kill you and take the documents back. What am I saying? My coming here was to end you before. I am so silly, ” She laughed, shocking me.
She wants to kill me?!
“I have a bad habit of playing around with my toys.” She smirked at me.
Is this a joke? A whole wolfless Luna thinks she can kill me?
Finding this funny, I laughed at Brielle, asking, ” You want to kill me? You wolfless being?” I kept on cackling. She stands no chance against me. I’ll be the one to kill her and that child in her womb. That will be my biggest payback on Argon.
As I kept on laughing, Brielle then said, “Oops! Where are my manners? I won’t be doing the killing alone, I brought along an old friend of yours.”
“Old friend?” What is she talking about?
Suddenly, I watched Brielle lowering her head down in a strange way. And before I could ask her why she was being a weirdo, she lifted her head with her eyes shut, saying, “Did you miss me, Beta?”
“Wait, that voice. Where have I heard it before?”
To my greatest surprise, when Brielle opened her eyes, I was horrified by what I saw!
Her eyes… They… They are green!
No way! She… She can’t be!
“It’s been long we played, Beta. You didn’t even call to say hi,” She laughed, showing off her long teeth while flashing her green eyes at me!
All these time we’ve been looking for that monster, not knowing that Brielle… She’s the demon!
Now it all made sense! The constant attacks on Estelle. It was Brielle! She was secretly attacking us and we didn’t know because we kept thinking she was wolfless!
She played us all! She’s… She’s the green-eyed wolf!
“The name’s Bane,” She introduced, as her body began to increase with black hairs slowly streaming out of her skin.
I stared in horror, watching how her body slowly shifted into this demon that gave me sleepless nights. My feet was stuck. I found it hard to move!
“You are going to remember my name even after death!” She roared out, launching her right hand at me with speed!
When I saw this, my feet finally moved! I dodged by bending, rolling out from that tight corner I was in and making a quick run for my life.
I immediately jumped out of the truck and turned back to hear a loud howl coming from the vehicle.
Lo and behold, Brielle or Bane, ripped the back of this truck apart with a wide spread, roaring out to the dark night!
My whole body was immediately engulfed with fear as I dashed ahead with speed, taking another look behind to see those two terrifying green eyes settled on me, followed by a deadly grin from this beast!
That was a sign that I won’t be escaping her. She has got me where she wants, and now she wants to kill me!
No wonder my wolf was trembling. It could sense that demon’s presence in Brielle! I knew I had felt that sensation before, and it was because of her!
We’ve been so blinded by our own motives that we failed to see the monster was in our midst. It was never a rival pack attacking Estelle and Deron, it was an enemy within.
Brielle is out to end us all. She wants our soul!
“I have to warn them! We are doomed!” I panicked, running fast with my wolf speed.
