“She’s fine. Seems our Luna was taking care of herself in secret, ” Doctor Nicole said, checking Brielle.
Due to the commotion that took place, I had to end the party and put my focus on a tired Brielle.
The councils had noticed how stressed she was, so they immediately reached out to Doctor Nicole to come down to the mansion immediately.
She ran a brief test on Brielle, delivering a satisfying news to me. “Both mother and child are fine. All they need is rest,” She said, drawing away from the bed Brielle laid in.
With a smile, I appreciated the doctor, “Thank you so much. I’ll make sure she gets enough rest, trust me, ” I promised her, dropping my attention on my Luna.
Her eyes were fixed on me with her cheeks burning red. She immediately looked away in shyness, leaving a smile on my face.
When I directed that eyes back at Doctor Nicole, I noticed she had seen the way Brielle and I stared at each other, because she was looking at me with a frown.
I didn’t know what to make of her sudden behaviour, but I was about to find out when she requested, “Can I see you outside, Alpha?” She placed her hand on me, leading me out of the room.
Tania, who was in the room with us, went over to sit with Brielle, while I stepped out to talk to Nicole.
As soon as we got outside, Nicole sighed out and said, “I don’t know how this drama unfolded between you and Brielle, but you need to know this Alpha… ” She pointed with a strong face. “I won’t be smiling with you, if anything should happen to my Luna and that child. If she gets hurt like the last time, I’ll…”
“Nicole, trust me, ” I said, taking hold of her hand. It was shaking in my hold, showing her care towards Brielle and her rage. “Nothing like that will happen. I promise you, I’ll take good care of my wife and my child. They are my responsibility,” I assured her, patting her tight fist.
She still kept her glare on, but eventually calmed down after puffing out some air. “You better keep to your words, Alpha. You don’t know how hard it was for me to break that horrible news to Brielle that painful day, ” She shared, slowly drifting into sadness. “It’s this same hands that took out your…”, she paused, not wanting to recall the past. ” This is something no mother wish to experience.”
“I… I know.” I lowered my head, recalling Brielle’s painful gaze when she returned home without a proper treatment.
“But if Brielle is okay with this, and the councils aren’t complaining about this sudden pregnancy … Then who am I to stand against the goddess’s wish?” She uttered, shrugging at me.
Her face finally gave a smile, as she carefully drew her hand out of my hold, saying, ” Just be a good husband and father to those two. And… Congratulations.”
This is the first time a news concerning my own flesh and blood would make me happy. I happily thanked Doctor Nicole, who decided to take her leave.
“I’ll see the councils on my way out and let them know the Luna is fine. ”
“No problem. Thank you again.”
She took her leave, while I went into Brielle’s room to see her sleeping. Tania was still sitting next to her, before rising to her feet on spotting me.
In a whisper, she said, “She needed to sleep, so I tucked her in.”
“It’s fine,” I whispered back, staring at my Luna.
What a beauty. She’s an embodiment of love and hope. With all that has happened, she didn’t just restore my reputation, but made me the happiest man in the world. I can boldly call myself a soon-to-be father.
Tania walked up to me and suggested that we leave Brielle alone. “I’ll check up on her later, ” She promised with a smile. And yes, I do trust her words. She has always been by my Luna’s side.
“Tania, come with me,” I said, opening the door.
The maid looked confused and also worried, as she pointed at herself and asked, “Have I done something, Alpha? ”
“Just come, ” I repeated, paving way for her to step out first.
I heard her gulp before walking out of the room. Together we went into the living room, where we met the councils waiting for me.
On spotting Tania and I, they got to their feet with a smile on their faces. The only person that approached me, wrapping her arms around for a hug, was the elderly lady. She was the most happiest person among the three.
“I celebrate you, Alpha Argon. You didn’t just make us proud today, but did what a true Alpha would do,” She rejoiced, cupping my face.
The other two drew closer, adding to her words. “Despite the allegations thrown by those three, you stood your ground and defended your Luna. You were able to tell who was right and who was speaking false.”
“You are indeed an Alpha, Son.” They praised me, causing my heart to glow.
“With the goddess as my witness, I never thought you and Brielle would make things work.”
“I thought I was the only one thinking that just now. Who knew they had plans to become a family again,” One said, chuckling out.
“At last, Wolf Crest will be hearing the cries of our Alpha’s heir!” They all cheered with their arms lifting to the heavens.
I was pleased with their words. Finally they are speaking to me with joy and respect. At least granny’s detest for me has vanished. I’m a free man.
While they were celebrating, I directed my attention to a quiet Tania, who just stood right next to me, clueless on why she was actually there with us.
That’s when I said to my councils, “My elders, if you don’t mind. I have thought about this and decided to give the Beta’s position to someone that deserves it.”
“Oh, so fast?” They were amused, wondering who this person was.
That’s how I placed my hand on Tania and said, “Tania… I want to make her the Beta of Wolf Crest.”
“What?!” Tania exclaimed, gazing in shock.
My Councils were astonished by this. I could read the curiousness in their eyes. They want to know why I chose a woman, instead of a man. That has always been a tradition of every pack.
“It’s not only men that can prove their loyalty to their superior. Women also have that ability in them, and Tania has proven that from day one. She has always been by Brielle’s side, everyday and every night. She didn’t just show her loyalty to my Luna, but also showed her respect to me as well. She’s more than a maid in this mansion, but my Luna’s best friend,” I shared, facing my Councils.
“And so far, I can say she’s worthy to be the Beta of Wolf Crest. She deserves that position.” My eyes fell back on Tania. She was still in shock.
My councils hummed at what I had said. They found my decision reasonable.
“I believe she’s the same lady Jerome was afraid of.”
“Yes, the fool could see her potential’s, that’s why he decided to attack our darling Brielle.”
“Alpha, if you have made this decision, then we accept. We shouldn’t delay this. Tomorrow noon, we shall make this announcement to all, presenting the pack with their new Beta, Tania,” They accepted, taking hold of Tania’s hands and pulling her close.
“We welcome you, Beta Tania, ” They pronounced to a frozen Tania, who finally turned to look at me, lost in words. She could barely smile at this surprise, appreciating me in audibly.
I read her lips and grabbed her message.
“Brielle would be thrilled to hear this news.” I smiled, feeling excited.

Just as I anticipated, when Brielle woke up the next day and heard the great news about Tania’s new position, she was over the moon.
“Congratulations!” She embraced Tania, expressing her joy.
I watched how they both celebrated with happiness, laughing and making plans for the afternoon announcement the Councils would make to the pack.
I volunteered to help as well, joining Brielle in getting Tania ready for her special day. And when the noon came, Tania was presented before the pack, as the new Beta of Wolf Crest.
It was a surprise to all, who found it hard to believe that a woman could be a Beta. But still, they were pleased, as she was better than the previous Beta who didn’t show any good example to my people.
“Thank you, Argon, ” I heard Brielle’s voice, feeling her hand clenching to mine. We both looked at each other with a smile, sharing an eye lock.
“You have made Tania happy. I’m grateful.”
“Anything for you.” I held her hand tight, watching the ceremony taking place before us, with a happy Tania waving her hand to the people.
