ALPHA DERON
What… What does she mean by her pack?
Brielle’s action shocked me. She still had me lowered before her like a fool, smirking out. Her grip on my tie was strong. She even had her index finger clipping part of my shirt as well!
I tried to pull myself away from her hold, but the more I dragged, the more her grip grew tighter, pulling me down.
“What’s the matter, Deron? Can’t talk? ” She questioned, lifting her right brow. “You know well that this pack isn’t for you alone, right?”
“Leave my father! ” Estelle shouted, rushing up to help me.
But before she could intervene, Brielle suddenly pushed me back, causing me to stagger into Estelle’s arms. My daughter nearly lost her balance, but got supported by me. I was able to save us from falling before all these gazers.
“Her pack? What does she mean by that, Alpha Deron?” Someone from the press, questioned me.
I thought I was the only one that heard that part, but it turns out that most of the people heard it as well.
“He won’t tell you but beat around the bush. I’ll tell you what is happening,” Brielle volunteered.
She openly revealed told everyone about the documents I gifted Argon, using that to define my character. “If he isn’t greedy and selfish, he wouldn’t have given his throne to Argon in the first place!” On hearing that, my people gasped in shock, muttering over what Brielle just said.
” That’s not true! My father did no such thing. You’re cooking up this story.” Estelle refused to believe what Brielle was saying, swaying her head at her words.
That only made Brielle chuckle at my daughter’s cluelessness. “Oh, it’s true. Daddy wanted to make Argon happy during your supposed wedding. He desperately tried to get Argon to see him as a father figure. He kept begging and begging and begging… Even Argon refused his offer, but your father still insisted, believing Argon would make a fine Alpha when he dies. Isn’t that lovely? ” Brielle giggled, crossing her arms.
I got glaciated at the part where she mentioned how I begged Argon to take the pack, portraying me as a weakling. That was enough to send my people into a rampage, but they all glared at me, still listening to Brielle.
“When Argon told me this, I thought he was lying. But the documents doesn’t lie. He showed me the papers and… I was stunned, ” she said, acting shocked.
“I couldn’t understand why Deron would give Argon such a gift. At first I thought it was because of his previous issue with the throne, but it became more clear when your father went over to the company to see Argon. He refused to take the documents when Argon tried to give it to him! So, what does that say? ” She asked, looking at everyone. “What does that mean? Isn’t that a sign that something was fishy?”
“Yes, you’re right.”
“That’s a sneaky move right there. Why force someone to take something when he doesn’t want it? ” They all mumbled, reasoning what Brielle just said.
I wanted to speak up and defend myself, but when I opened my mouth, my words kept hanging.
“Father, tell me she’s lying. You didn’t give Argon the power to your throne, did you? ” Estelle asked, tapping my arm for answers.
Still, I said nothing. And my silence gave her the answer she didn’t like. Her eyes almost popped out, as she swayed her head at me. “No, tell me you didn’t. Tell me you didn’t!”
“I… You see…”
“And here I thought we could talk like matured people, hoping to solve this problem in private,” Brielle interrupted, looking… Sad?
I watched how she sighed, putting on the face of a sympathizer in a flash. She wiped the corner of her eyes and said, “When I heard about the news and what your workers were going through, I took permission from Argon to come and help them, and to use this opportunity to discuss with you. He wanted to come alone, but I felt it’d be best if I showed up myself. ”
She drew closer to the table and kept on expressing pains towards the situation, portraying a saint. ” But I can see that you don’t deserve any help from us, Deron. You tried to blame the same person you greedily shared your throne with, all because you didn’t want your people to know about your problems,” She exposed, adding spice to her words.
“This pack may still be yours, Deron, but you have given Argon equal rights to rule Red wood. And that makes your people mine.” She faced me angrily, standing tough.
“I can now see that you don’t care about this people, that’s why you gave your throne to Argon. But let me tell you this Deron… I care about them, and you can not drive me out of this pack because I am now the Luna of Red wood. So, deal with it.” She declared, marking her ground.
What she said bloomed the hearts of my workers and the press, who applauded Brielle for showing her love for them.
The cheers was a sign that I should leave, before things gets out of hand. I couldn’t fight anymore.
Estelle wanted to go against Brielle, but I pulled my daughter out of that place and into my car, driving out of that premises immediately.
The heat was too much. My own people have turned against me, siding with that woman. I don’t know how it escalated to this point. I’m still confused.
“You gave Argon a document to claim your throne when you die? What about me your daughter?! Didn’t you think about the negative side before doing this?!” Estelle yelled, questioning my actions.
She didn’t give me the space I needed to think about this problem. And when my head struck an idea… SCREECH! I stopped the car in the middle of the road and ordered Estelle to get out.
“You’re kicking me out? ” She was shocked.
“No, just get out and head home by yourself. I need to make a quick visit somewhere,” I said, pushing her out.
I tossed a few notes at my daughter, before driving off, heading down to my council’s hall.
“They will help me. They were the ones who gave me the idea in the first place,” I reasoned, driving quickly.
On getting to my council’s place, I found the three old men outside, looking troubled. When they spotted me, they immediately pulled me into the Hall, demanding to know how I ended up in such a mess.
“You are all over the news!”
“People are insulting you, Deron.”
“Everyone is calling you a failure. This is bad for the pack’s reputation!”
“That’s why I’m here. I need your help in solving this mess, ” I tabled, falling on my knees before my elders.
“Argon has used my own gift against me. He sent his Luna down here to humiliate me. She openly told the public about the throne and labeled me unfit. Please, help me out. What can I do?” I begged, seeking for answers.
“Yes, Luna Brielle. I must say, she has changed a lot.”
“No doubt about that, my friend. It’s like she’s slowly transforming from the weak woman we once knew, to some boss lady.”
“She’s more like a leech in my eyes. She suddenly rose from the slum to a great height, challenging you disrespectfully.”
They talked about Brielle, humming out, before thinking of a solution. That’s when they came up with a pan, which they believed would save me.
“Seems we’ll have to call the councils of Wolf Crest and present this matter before them. That way, they’ll advise Argon to give up the pack.”
“Brilliant! I knew you’d think of something. Please, reach out to them and plan a meeting tomorrow. We will go down to Wolf Crest and settle this matter once and for all, ” I decided, feeling a bit relieved from the heat.
And as we planned, my councils contacted the council members of Wolf crest, setting a meeting tomorrow morning.
When the following day came, I journeyed down to the pack with my councils, visiting the hall of Wolf Crest’s respected elders.
On stepping in, we found the three waiting for us on their high table, staring at us. Both pack councils greeted each other, and I bowed before them, showing my respect as well.
One of my councils said, “My fellow councils, I’m sure you already know why we’re here. This matter is serious and we…”
“No, ” The elderly lady shot at once with no care. My councils and I were confused. Why did she say No?
“Why No, my dear great coun…”
“No means no. Any matter that involves Miss Runway and her father, ain’t our business,” She stamped, crossing her arms.
I could sense her detest towards my family. I hope this doesn’t ruin my chance in getting my pack fully from Argon.
My councils had to plead on my behalf, before the other two spoke with the old lady, getting her to budge.
“Fine. Let’s get this over with. I don’t have all day here, ” She said.
I was relieved.
“When will Alpha Argon be present? This meeting can’t hold without him, ” My councils asked, while I stayed shut like a dumb man, looking here and there.
And just as they were making their inquiry about that scammer, Argon came into the hall, greeting everyone present in the hall.
Just look at his face. He’s even smiling like all is well. Once we’re done and I’ve gotten my pack, I’m going to get him back for this.
“Please, have your seat, ” The councils offered. We all sat down to discuss, bringing up the topic of my throne.
My councils were busy sugar coating the matter into my favor, stylishly persuading the elders to talk to Argon. “Deron gave those papers out of love, but it seems the differences between him and Argon has gotten to a point that both Alphas can’t see eye ball to eye ball.”
“That’s not true, ” Argon interrupted. “You can’t say we aren’t seeing eye ball to eye ball when we saw each other some days ago. Look now, I’m staring into his eyes. That’s eye ball to eye ball, ” He explained, almost making my councils look stupid.
Knowing what I had to do, I cleared my throat and sweetly apologized to Argon for any problem I caused. “I didn’t mean to hurt you, son. But… I understand you have no interest in the gift I gave to you. Maybe it’s best if you just return it back now. I promise I won’t force you to take it again, ” I said, smiling at Argon.
“What do you have to say, Alpha Argon?” One of his councils asked him.
That’s when I saw a spark in Argon’s eyes for me. He gave a sigh and said, ” Alpha Deron, I can understand. I would love to give you the papers.”
Finally! That was so easy!
“But…” He dragged, rubbing his neck.
“But what, Alpha? ” The councils asked.
Argon shrugged at us, giving his response, “The thing is that my name isn’t on the papers anymore.”
“What do you mean by that? ” I asked, feeling my heart beating fast.
Only for this fool to reveal that… “Well, since Deron wouldn’t take the gift and I didn’t have much interest in it, I transferred it into Brielle’s name.”
“What?!” My councils and I screamed out, shocked to hear this notice from Argon.
“Haha! Drama,” The elderly lady cackled at this news.
Argon apologized and said, ” If you wish to take the papers back, you’ll have to speak to Brielle. She’s the only one that will decide if she wants to release it or not.”
“Is this some kind of joke? Why did you transfer it to her?!” I raised my voice, slowly revealing my anger.
My councils had to calm me down, suggesting that Argon calls Brielle so that we can talk to her. He agreed and placed a call through to her. When she answered the line, Argon said, “Brielle, the councils of Red wood and Alpha Deron have come to… ”
“No, ” She dropped immediately.
“Haha! Straight,” The elderly lady laughed, this time louder.
I was annoyed with that woman’s response. This is frustrating.
Argon shrugged and said to us, “She said no. That means she’s not releasing the papers. ”
“No, Luna Brielle. See, this is serious. We know you’re pure at heart and have a beautiful soul. Can you please consider our Alpha and give…”
“The answer is still No,” Brielle interrupted at once, repeating her answer. “Your Alpha can only get his pack back, if he proves himself to his people. Until then, I will not release any power to him. Besides, we are sharing it. He’s not dead, so why is he complaining?”
I groaned at what she said, tightening my hands into fists.
“Only when those poor souls see him as a man worthy to rule, that’s when I’ll transfer the other half to him. But for now, we’re both in power. Good day.” She ended the call.
Argon shrugged once again, looking at the councils. “You’ve heard from her. Can I leave now?”
“Yes, you can, ” His councils agreed, allowing Argon to exit the hall.
My councils and I tried to get them to talk some senses into Brielle’s head, but they showed no interest to our plan, siding with that woman.
“She has told you what to do, Deron. It’s either you go and make peace with your people or you lose them.”
“We have seen the love they have for our Brielle. If you fail to do as she has said, your people might rise against you. Or worst they’ll relocate into Wolf crest, living Red wood empty. Is that what you want?” They asked.
I looked at my councils, hoping for a back up. But they had nothing to say. They told me to accept this and do as Brielle had ordered.
“It’s the only option.”
What a slap! A man like myself will now take orders from a rat like that woman? This is unjust to me!
Unjust I say!
