ARGON
Returning back from the office after attending to the pending project, I decided to stop by and get Brielle a rose flower. The green flower of course, since she has come to like the rare plant, and I’ve come to accept that term.
The florist had suggested the red, pointing out it’s true meaning. But what’s the need of getting that, when Brielle has no interest in that color?
“This would do, ” I said, paying up and getting into my car.
After my discussion with Brielle last night, my heart has been hoping for a change in her behaviour. She has promised this time around, that she wouldn’t stress me out while I’m taking care of her health. I just hope she sticks to that promise.
Soon, I arrived at the mansion, just in time to meet Brielle having her lunch at the dinning with Tania. Her maid was feeding her one of Nicole’s healthy meal, while she grumbled at every bite.
The looks on her face were hilarious, yet adorable. It’s just like watching a little child being forced to eat a bitter meal.
“You’re doing well, Luna. Just try to eat the rest.”
“I don’t want to. It tastes awful, ” She complained, attempting to push the food away.
That’s when I stepped in and took over from Tania, sending the maid away. “I’ll attend to her. You can go and do something else, ” I said, taking the spoon in my hand, placing it before Brielle.
Her grumbles ceased when she saw me. She became calm.
“Okay sir, I’ll leave,” Tania said, bowing at Brielle and I, before exiting the dinning.
Alone with Brielle, I decided to test her honesty from last night’s conversation. If she rages out on me, then that means she hasn’t given me the chance to take care of her health as promised.
Scooping out of the meal, I said bringing it closer to her mouth, “It’s important for you to get well, if you wish to vent all your frustrations on me.” I persuaded, gently poking her mouth with the spoon.
She didn’t want to listen at first, but gave in at last. Her mouth came opened, and I fed her the dish without any stress.
She’s keeping to her words.
This is good.
After the meal, Brielle said with a mouthful, “I want to stay in my room now.”
“Oh no. Not until you’ve taken a few walk around the mansion and taken your medicine. I can’t allow you to keep staying in that room all your live. It’s not adding to your health.”
“But…”
“No buts, ” I shunned her immediately, stopping her from standing against my statement.
“We are leaving this room now and heading out for a stroll. Is that clear? ” I pointed at her, waiting for her response.
Her face showed disapproval, but her mouth accepted the order, even though it was hard on her. “Fine, we’ll go for a walk.”
“Better. Now get up.” Up on my feet, I took hold of Brielle’s hands and pulled her off the seat carefully.
She was being moody about the instructions, yet she pushed it aside and did as I wanted.
Together, Brielle and I strolled around the mansion, side by side. She didn’t allow me to hold her hands, but kept her arms crossed against her chest, walking slowly.
I didn’t rush it. I just followed her footsteps, making sure she did everything right.
I even made a few stops around the mansion, just for her to stretch her bones. And just like that, Brielle didn’t complain. She did as I asked, carrying out a few exercises.
“She’s really listening to me. I don’t recall getting this kind of composure from Brielle in the past. It feels so peaceful,” I admired within, feeling alive.
My servants, who had seen us, stared in an awkward manner when they saw how I joined Brielle in stretching, right in my suit.
Their gazes were annoying, as they watched us from their point. From where I stood, I sent a signal to them, causing those fools to race back to their duty post. The rage in my eyes was enough to plant fear into their heart.
“Roaches!” I groaned inaudibly, returning my attention on Brielle. She was tired from the stretches and begged for her bed.
“Please, no more. I need to sleep,” She panted, leaning against the wall.
“You did well. Now you can head back inside and rest.”
“Thank you for that,” she puffed out, walking slowly from where she had leaned.
Seeing how tired she was, I lifted Brielle into my arms and said, so she won’t freak out, ” I’m just helping out, so don’t…”
“I know, ” She interrupted, placing her head on me. That sent a spark into my heart. I felt enchanted by her action.
We went back into the mansion to relax. Brielle soon fell asleep before arriving at the room. She looked so innocent when I laid her down in bed. Her face was so calm and filled with peace.
“Who would see this face and believe you are a violent lady?” I chuckled, covering her up before leaving the room for the dinning.
There I found the rose flower I got for Brielle. I didn’t get to give it to her properly. “Maybe later. I’ll just keep it safe, ” I smirked, giving the flower a vase of its own, just like the others.
This short moment with Brielle was a sign that the remaining days would be better. No stress, no yelling… Well, I hope I’m right about that.
.
In the next two days, I didn’t go to work but stayed at home for Brielle’s sake. She has been eating and doing every other things without much help.
And in these days, I could breath without any problem or nagging from her. She has been true to her words, obeying my every order.
What a delight!
But every good thing must come to an end eventually.
When Doctor Nicole came around to check up on Brielle, she revealed that she was better and out of the sick zone.
“You have done well, Alpha. The Luna is perfectly okay. No more signs of weakness in her body. She’s back to normal,” Nicole shared the great news with me, right outside Brielle’s room.
Even before she told me about it, I had seen the signs already.
Brielle could walk faster than before, without stopping to catch her breathe. She now ate her meal, including the ones Doctor Nicole had listed down, without puking or complaining about the taste.
She’s healed.
“Do share this news with her. I’m in a hurry. There are still some pending work to attend to at the hospital,” She notified, checking her watch.
I nodded, assuring her that I’d pass the news to Brielle.
“Let me escort you.”
“Thank you, Alpha.” Nicole smiled, following me out of the mansion, until she was out on the streets.
I was still outside the mansion, thinking about the good news delivered by the doctor. Brielle is healthy again. A music to one’s ears.
“But why do I feel so upset about this report? Isn’t this what I wanted?” I asked myself, feeling confused.
“I’ve been waiting to hear a good news from Nicole, and now that she has delivered it… I… I’m not delighted with the result. Why?”
A question I knew the answer to. I just didn’t want to accept the truth. Now that Brielle is back to herself, the councils would come around and get her to give her final decision on me.
This was supposed to take place during the wedding, but it all went down hill with the sudden attack on Estelle.
“I’m not ready for this. Still, I can’t escape it. I just have to embrace the future and accept my fate,” I sighed, feeling weak at heart.
Returning to the room, I met Brielle talking to Tania happily. Her laughter filled the room, causing my marrow to ache. They both saw me and went all silent, until Brielle asked, ” So, what did Doctor Nicole say?”
“Huh?” I uttered, slowly picking her question.
“What did the doctor say? ” She repeated, levitating her brow.
Knowing I couldn’t lie about the truth, I shared, “She said you’re all better now. You are free from the poison and good as new.”
“HURRAH!” Tania cheered, hugging Brielle tightly. “I told you the sickness was gone. Now you can move around without getting weak, ” She rejoiced, expressing her happiness to the news.
Brielle was happy as well. She hugged her maid back, smiling with joy.
I stared at this beautiful scene with a curve spreading across my face, but I couldn’t rejoice along with this two.
It was hard.
“I made you something nice, just in case the doctor’s report was good. And now you can have it!”
“Really?” Brielle gasped out in excitement, curious to know what Tania had in store for her.
“Just give me some minutes and I’ll be back, ” Tania excused herself, running out of the room.
I was finally alone with Brielle, having nothing in mind to say to her. All I could think of was the councils and Brielle’s decision.
I feel so hot just thinking about it.
“I’m happy with the news, ” Brielle’s voice came in, gaining my attention. I looked at her and found her sitting halfway in bed, swinging her legs.
“No more yucky soup. I get to eat whatever I want,” She joked, chortling.
I smiled at her, agreeing with what she said. “I won’t have to force you to eat what you don’t like. You get to do as you please.”
“Exactly. No more strolling or exercises. I’m free.” She lifted her arms in the air, demonstrating her freedom while laughing.
The sight of this triggered my heart, taking my mind to the divorce papers. I won’t just be facing my judgment but expecting the papers from Brielle as well.
Is this going to mark the end between the both of us?
“Hey, are you okay?” Brielle’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
I dropped my eyes on her and noticed she was already on her feet staring back at me. “You just zoned out. Is there a problem?” She asked.
“Um… There’s… There…” I stammered, unable to voice out the truth buried within. But it’s of no use now. It’s far too late to make any changes.
“It’s nothing, ” I lied, giving a light spread from the lips.
“Are you sure? You don’t look okay to me. Did something happen at the office?” She tilted her head, desperate to get an answer from me.
I chuckled softly and swayed at her words. “Nothing. I’m just glad that you’re okay.”
“Oh, I see.” She hummed, sitting back on the bed.
Silence came in next, giving me enough space to think about this situation. And just like that, an idea popped into mind.
“So, now that this sickness stuff is over…” I drew closer to the spot where she sat. “How about a date to celebrate your achievement?”
“My achievement? ” She shrunk her eyes at what I said, probably finding it dumb.
With a grin, I was able to explain myself to Brielle, and also convince her about the outing, boldly. “You know you haven’t been outside for sometime. Let’s just have this opportunity to head out and thank the goddess for saving you. See it as my way of appreciating you for not eating.”
All of a sudden, Brielle broke out laughing, finding what I said hilariously. I chuckled along, asking again, “So, can we have this date? I promise it won’t be stressful.”
“Hmm. Okay then. I really need an outing, so it’s a date.”
“Sweet. We’ll leave by eight tonight.”
“Okay, noted.”
“Okay… Noted. ” I nodded, feeling silly for repeating what she just said. I can’t help myself. I’m not thinking straight.
Only Brielle found it funny. She just sat there giggling at me.
I soon left her room with a glow across my face, making plans for tonight’s date. Even if it’s going to be our last, I want to make it a memorable one.
