ARGON
Permission granted. I began my work as Brielle’s nurse, making sure she had her medicine and healthy meal, as instructed by the doctor.
I won’t say it was an easy task, because Brielle made it hard. She didn’t make it easy for me like I had hoped.
That same day, at around three in the afternoon, I decided to get her soup ready myself.
I didn’t allow the maids to prepare it, even though they wanted to help. But since I’ve made a promise to Brielle, I decided to do it all alone with my own two hands.
After all the effort in getting the soup ready, I went to serve Brielle in her room, only to get a heartbreaking comment from her.
“What is this? Gutter water or Swamp juice? ” She dimmed her eyes at me, pushing the bowl aside.
“I will not eat this garbage. Fix me something better!” She ordered, pushing the bowl again.
Just a little more and that soup would have poured all over her bed. She gave it a slap, almost tossing it over, but I swiftly caught the bowl in time.
“Can you be careful?” I warned, placing the bowl on the table, and looking at Brielle. Only to find her mouth wide opened, gasping at what I just said.
“Excuse me? Are you asking a sick woman to be careful? You are the one who volunteered to take care of me. I didn’t beg you!” She crossed her arms, shrinking her eyes at me.
Her behavior was getting to me really hard. I was beginning to feel frustrated. But knowing that I made the decision in the first place, I had to control my mood and endure Brielle.
“Okay fine, I’m sorry. But can you please just drink the soup?”
“How can I eat something I don’t know? This is different from the past soups. Who made this?!” She pointed, shooting her nostrils high in disgust.
Now this made me feel embarrassed. I’m the cook, and if I tell her that I made it, she’s going to mock me for sure.
“Um… One of the maids made the soup exactly the way it’s supposed to be. This is another kind of healthy soup on the list Doctor Nicole gave to me, ” I lied, smiling at Brielle.
She stared at me, like she could see through my lies, but I was at peace when she shrugged and decided to thirst the soup. “If you say so then, ” She uttered, taking the bowl.
With relief, I helped Brielle in sipping from my Master piece. Every sip she took gave a frown of disgust on her face. She would either stick her tongue or roll her eyes weirdly.
My cooking can’t be thya bad. She’s being dramatic.
Finally, Brielle drank the soup but not all. She handed the rest back to me and said, “Next time, add enough spice. It tastes like dish water.”
“What? You mean the maid, right?” I asked, hoping what she said was a slip of a tongue.
Hearing my question, she lifted her brow and said, “You think I’m stupid? No maid would make this swamp water except you. You just used them as an excuse to get me to eat your poison. BLEH! ” She faked a choke, holding her throat.
I did not find this funny one bit. This is a slap to my talent.
“My soup isn’t poisonous. Do you know how long it took for me to prepare it? I worked my ass in that kitchen!”
“I worked my ass in that Kitchen,” She mimicked in a deep voice, scoffing out.
“Simple, you made puke not soup. Accept your fate,” She smiled, patting my shoulder.
This woman!
“Carry your bowl of poison away. Be back in three minutes, because I’ll be needing that stroll, ” She said, stretching out her body.
Is she joking or what? “Three minutes? Are my feet made of wheels?”
“Nah, but you’re a wolf. So make use of your speed than wasting it, ” She responded harshly, laying in bed.
“Be fast about it, because if this beautiful eyes should close up for a good sleep, I ain’t going out any more.”
“Fine.” I groaned at her, getting off her bed and out of the room with speed.
At least she wants to step out for a walk. But that can only be possible, if I return back to the room within three minutes.
“Crazy woman! She’s going to tell me if the goddess made me a motor bike from birth.”
Using all my speed, I dumped the bowl recklessly in the kitchen and came back to Brielle’s room immediately. Three minutes on the dot, just as she instructed. On stepping into the room to get Brielle, I found her snoring!
“What… What is this?” I drew closer in shock, hearing how she snored out loudly, to show she was sleeping!
She had her face buried on the bed with her pillow by the side. Her two hands held both edges of the bed, like one hanging on to her dear life.
She can’t be serious.
“You said three minutes and I’m here. Quit pretending to be asleep, because I know you’re lying. You don’t snore whole sleeping. We’ve been in the same room before,” I said, frowning at her.
Still, she didn’t budge. She moaned out, changing her position, and making her snores louder. That triggered my anger at once.
“That’s it!” Annoyed, I got on the bed, ready to drag Brielle and force her to take a stroll. Only for me to hear something unexpected from her.
“Hello, Doctor Nicole?” She called, turning over to reveal the phone in her hold.
This stunned me!
“Yes, Luna?” I heard Nicole’s voice from the speaker. Brielle really called her.
“Is it a must to go on a stroll when you’re feeling sleepy?” She smirked, tilting her head to the side.
“No, it’s not. Why did you ask? Is that man troubling you?!” Her voice came out loud, like a mother out for war.
My heart skipped when I heard Nicole’s roar. She didn’t hesitate to point at me, since she had labeled me as the trouble maker here.
A grin filled Brielle’s face, as she responded to Nicole with an innocent voice, “No, I was just asking in case he comes over to take me on a stroll while I’m sleeping.”
“If he does, tell him no, or just call me and I’ll speak to him myself.”
“Thank you so much. You’re a darling.”
“Anything for you, Luna. Please rest, ” Nicole said, ending the call.
Once their conversation was over… “You… You are …”
“An angel? I know. If you disturb my sleep again, I will contact the councils this time, and tell them you’re harassing my sleep!” She smirked, cuddling herself in bed with no remorse over her action.
What kind of a woman is this?
I should have seen this coming when she accepted my request. She didn’t take that answer wholeheartedly. She wants to deal with me to her satisfaction.
“Be cool, Argon. You just started your task today. I’m sure the remaining days would be okay. After all, she’ll be back to herself after a few more treatment,” I said, calming my mood.
But someone was out for violence.”Keep dreaming. I’m not recovering anytime soon. Your gutter soup just added to my sickness. I think I’m going to die. BLEH!” Brielle held her mouth, pretending to feel queasy.
Provoked by her nonsense, I stormed out of the room, slamming the door from behind.
“Gosh! Why me?!” I shouted, storming away in frustration.
