ARGON
Do they think I’m stupid?
They are trying to blame a poison that didn’t have any hand in the baby’s death! The report clearly shows that Estelle had already removed that baby before our wedding.
“And she even dared to deny the truth right before my very eyes?! That brat! How could she?!”
I was storming back to see Brielle, hoping to quench this rage that was engulfing my system.
The moment I arrived at the path leading to the room, my right arm was suddenly pulled from behind, roughly.
On feeling this grip, I immediately dragged my arm out this person’s hold and turned around, only to find Alpha Deron glaring at me with so much anger in his eyes.
Just look at him. Does he think that fury buried within his gaze can weaken me? I am not a fool that will be manipulated by this old man or by his daughter any more.
“What is it that you want? Are you here to feed me with more lies? ” I questiomed Deron.
His face came all red, as he began to yell at me, ignoring all the people passing by. “You better take those words back, Argon! My daughter can not kill her own child! I raised her well! ” He defended, beating his chest.
I just gazed at him, listening to all his nonsense. He was busy portraying Estelle as an angel, when I already know the devil he calls a daughter, in and out.
“I know my daughter, Argon! The real culprit behind my grandchild’s death is the person that poisoned her dress. And trust me, when I find that culprit, you’re going to regret ever accusing my daughter of such a heinous crime! Mark my words, Argon!” He vowed, pointimg his finger directly at my face, and panting out.
After listening to his tales, I scoffed and said to Deron, “You have so much faith in Estelle, and yes… I can understand your fatherly love for her, but…” Carefully, I lowered his finger down and smirked at him. “You may still believe I am lying and think I’m listening to someone else’s tale, but I know your daughter far better than you.”
“You know nothing!” He stood his ground, still defending Estelle. Does that mean I’ll stay shut? Hell no.
“Do you remember the day Brielle poured all those juices on you? You still remember how you felt so humiliated and didn’t even want to talk to me? Can you recall that very day? ” I asked, snapping my finger at Deron.
From his face expression and moving head, I could tell he recalls that moment.
“Brielle wasn’t the main culprit, but Estelle. She had placed her leg purposely just to get Brielle into trouble. She only told me all these after you had forgiven me. Will you call that a trustworthy daughter that can’t harm her own flesh and blood? ” I lifted my brow.
Deron wad stunned by what I had just said. His eyes began to perambulate for a little while, before swaying his head and saying to me, ” Maybe she just wanted to make it a peaceful attack but didn’t expect it to pour on me. Yes, it must have been an accident.”
“Accident my foot! She was laughing like you were a joke! How’s that an accident?!” I exposed on, so as to shun him.
His eyes came large, yet he still stood on his words. “I said it was an accident! That doesn’t mean she harmed her own baby!”
“Oh really? Now let’s step into another phase.” I crossed my arms, smiling at this giddy old man. “On my award ceremony… I’m not talking about the second ceremony, but the first. I’m sure you heard what happened to my suit, didn’t you? Estelle must have told you that Brielle poured chemicals to ruin the suit, this and that… But guess who was the main culprit? Your daughter!” I said, leaving Deron staring with doubt in his eyes.
“If that kind of daughter has any iota of love in her, she wouldn’t have dared to dip my cloth in chemical and tried to naked me before many! What if I hadn’t noticed on time?! What will be her excuse?!” I questioned Deron, raising my voice.
A few people had stopped to listen to our conversation, probably wondering what was going on between us.
I was filled with anger and didn’t give a damn about their presence.
“Come on, tell me! That day I attacked Brielle because she was the one in charge of the suit. Your daughter said no word! She stayed quiet until I found the chemical in her hiding spot. Now tell me, is that person as saintly as you think she is?! Can you see the girl you raised?!”
He knows I’m telling the truth, but he just don’t want to accept that his daughter can commit such an act.
Instead, he swayed his head at me and uttered, “Now I can see your useless ex-wife is feeding you with nonsense. You are busy listening to all her rubbish and venting all these rage on my girl! ”
“Don’t you dare accuse Brielle for your own daughter’s crime! You should be grateful that she saved your daughter and spared you from digging a grave!” I fired back, annoying Deron even more.
Out of anger, he snapped his finger and said, “A useless man like yourself shouldn’t talk to an Alpha! You no longer have your throne, and you think you can speak to me rudely?!”
Hearing his words, I gave a curve out, nodding at Deron. So, now he’s mocking the fact that I’m struggling to keep my throne, and that I’m at the edge of losing my position as Wolf crest’s Alpha? Waw!
“You should be grateful that I gave you the documents to my pack to rule along side my daughter. But now I can see you’re unworthy of it!” He pointed, almost poking my chest. But I immediately stepped back to avoid his touch.
“Just watch and see, Argon. Once I prove you wrong, I’m going to take those papers back from you. The councils will shame you before your people! I will make you crawl back to my daughter and beg her for mercy! ”
“Why wait till then to take your document? If you think I want to keep that nonsense, then you’re on your own. After all, you were the one begging me to have it. You almost fell on your knees to cry at my feet.” I laughed, galling him further.
“Even if the councils take my throne, I still have my company and partners. I still surpass you in the business field. So, you can come and take the papers. My beta is there. Tell him to fetch it, ” I said, delivering a befitting response to Deron while pointing at the direction we both came from.
“Go and get it, Alpha. I don’t need that crap, ” I made it clear.
This provoked Deron, who was about to step closer to vent more of his anger, but stopped when someone else came standing next to me.
“What’s the matter here, Argon?” Sir Derek asked, almost shielding me from Deron.
He was standing in like a father, requesting to know what the problem was about. And when Deron saw this, he became mute. He glared and just stepped back, turning around and heading back to that daughter of his.
“What’s all the ruckus?” Sir Derek inquired, looking at me with concern.
I just sighed and planted a smile, telling him it was nothing much. “Just a matter that would be solved some other time. So, what did Doctor Nicole say about discharging Brielle?” I asked, changing the topic while leading the way back to Brielle’s room.
All those that were watching the drama, soon went their ways. Only Sir Derek and I were walking slowly into the other path.
“She agreed to it, since Brielle is looking better than she expected. She also made a list of food and fruits she has to take to get her strength back fully, ” He shared, showing me the paper given by Doctor Nicole.
This were easy ingredients to get. It’s something I can handle.
“I know you’re busy with your affairs with Alpha Deron and your bride, but I was thinking if it’s best I take Brielle to my place to take good care of her.”
“What? ” I was amused by his requests. He was so ready to carry Brielle away from my pack and back to his.
“I mean she won’t be staying at your place for long. Once her treatment is done, I’m sure she’s going to leave you and…”
“No, ” I uttered, stopping Sir Derek halfway.
“Brielle… I’m not busy. You… Don’t have to worry about her treatment. I can do it. I can do it myself,” I stammered, showing my readiness to the task.
He still wanted to stand against my decision, but I was able to surpass him by talking about my late father. “Brielle might want to spend her remaining days at the mansion, remembering all the past memories with my father. She’s fond of that,” I claimed, hoping Sir Derek changes his mind.
I don’t want Brielle to leave even before the right time. She would have made her decision last night, but things changed. Maybe it’s a sign from the goddess. She’s giving me a second chance to make things right.
After many reasons, Sir Derek finally listened. “Okay then. But if there’s any need of my help, you can call me and I’ll come.”
“No problem,” I accepted his plans.
After that discussion, Sir Derek followed me to Brielle’s room and broke the news of her discharge. Brielle was happy and set to leave. She had to go into the changing room to get ready for her departure.
When she left with Tania, Sir Derek decided to leave, since the councils had already left.
“Take care of her, Argon.”
“I will, I promise,” I assured him.
Then he left me in charge of Brielle’s treatment.
“I’ll take good care of her. I’ll make sure she’s all better,” I promised, getting myself ready to carry out this task at hand.
