ESTELLE
“How long is it taking Argon to come and see me?” I wondered, getting impatient.
Since the time Doctor Nicole left the room, I’ve been practicing my crying skills for Argon to see when he arrives, but I haven’t seen his shadow anywhere near.
I even had to ask the nurses that came to attend to me. They didn’t give me an answer but shrugged at my question. They had no clue if Argon was coming or not.
“I thought Doctor Nicole said she was going to call him over. Did she forget?” I pondered, sitting up.
And even if I want to call him myself, I don’t have my phone here with me. All I can do is wait or beg a nurse to try and reach out to him.
“He needs to visit me. All this rehearsal can’t be in vain, ” I groaned, crossing my arms in anger.
Just then, I heard a masculine voice outside my room and saw the handle of the door being pressed down, making a click.
“He’s here! ” I gasped out in joy, laying back in bed and waiting for the drama to begin.
The moment the door came wide open… “Oh Goddess! Why me?!” I cried out, bringing out fake tears from my eyes.
“Estelle! Oh my poor child! ”
“Father?” I uttered, recognizing the voice. This isn’t Argon!
I opened my eyes and found both father and Jerome, standing close to my bed, with Doctor Nicole at their back.
Dammit! Argon isn’t here.
Father sat next to me with his hand caressing my cheek. “Pull yourself together, dear. We were told the sad news. Just be strong, ” Father comforted me, showing his sadness towards the tragic news delivered by the Doctor.
Even though he’s not my target, I just had to go with the flow and cry like a baby in his hold.
“My baby is gone. It’s gone,” I sobbed, holding father’s hands. He kept comforting me, promising to put a smile on my face. “Don’t worry, Estelle. Everything will be fine again, I promise,” He assured me, planting a kiss on my forehead.
The moment is ruined by Doctor Nicole, who began to blast at my father with no fear. “The next time you want to leave, please tell someone to watch over your daughter! I came here to find her all alone. What if something bad had happened and there was no one around to intervene?” She queried, glaring at him.
This stupid Doctor! Has she forgotten who she’s talking to?
“What do you mean by that? ” Father questioned, stepping away from me. “I did not leave my daughter all alone. I left her in the care of your Alpha,” He revealed, defending himself.
On hearing what he said, my heart skipped in surprise. “Alpha? That’s… That’s Argon! He was here? ” I stared at my father in shock.
“Alpha Argon was here?” The Doctor asked, lifting her brow in amusement.
“Yes, he was. He came by to see his wife and I left him to watch over my daughter. I didn’t leave her all alone, ” He explained, making it clear to the doctor.
And with this said, Doctor Nicole hummed at father and gave a shrugged, responding to his words, ” Okay.”
That was it. Like… Is that an answer? The word sounds annoying, especially in serious matters like this.
“I’ve heard you. Anyway, it’s good that you’re here, ” She said, getting set to leave. But father wasn’t done with her yet. “No, you can’t just say that and leave. My daughter was left alone with no one to watch over her. I need to know where you Alpha is.”
“I’m sorry, but I don’t know. Maybe he’s on his way to see your daughter. I already told him she’s awake. ” She pointed at my direction.
This was beginning to feel strange to me. If Argon was here, why did he leave me all alone without calling a nurse to watch over? What if something bad had happened?
“I’m sure he’s coming. Please, exercise patience. I’ll be in my office if you need anything. Have a good day.” She smiled at us, before leaving the room.
Father still wasn’t pleased with the way he was attached by the doctor. He decided to find Argon himself.
“I’ll call his line to know where he’s at. He’s probably crying over his child’s loss, ” He said, taking out his phone and exiting the room.
I remained in my spot, feeling uncomfortable with the way things were going. “Is my sweetheart crying? Oh, my poor darling,” I expressed, hoping my Argon doesn’t do anything to harm himself.
And just as I was making this wish, I realized that I wasn’t alone in this room. At the corner stood Jerome, staring at me in silence. He didn’t even say a word when father was talking about Argon.
“Seriously? You’re just standing there instead of helping my father? Argon is your Alpha! Can’t you be productive and use your position to do something nice?” I attacked Jerome, glowering at him.
I was expecting him to give a fast response and a hint on where Argon might be, but Jerome just smirked, swaying his head.
“What’s so funny? Is this the time to be smiling? My Argon is out there crying about our loss. You are supposed to be by his side, comforting his aching heart!”
“You shouldn’t worry about my Alpha, princess. He’s perfectly fine,” Jerome said confidently, leaning against the wall.
“You and your father are just worrying yourself over someone who’s busy filling his life with happiness already. He has no time for tears.”
“What do you mean by that? ” I questioned, finding his words confusing. Argon must be sitting somewhere in pain, thinking about me. I bet this dummy is saying nothing but nonsense.
But Jerome wasn’t here to make a joke. He chuckled at me and said, “You think he left you all alone by accident, because of the child? No, Estelle. He purposely left you to attend to something better. Or should I say attend to someone better.”
“Someone?” My body shivered, wondering where Jerome was heading with all these.
That’s how he revealed the truth to me. “Alpha Argon would have stayed with you all night till this morning, if someone else wasn’t admitted the same time as you. And that person is Brielle.”
“Brielle?! She was admitted? How?!” I asked, stunned to hear all these from Jerome.
He told me what had happened and how Argon kept acting crazy when she was being attended to.
“His insanity was on a different level. He didn’t go mad when you where in the emergency room. Oh, he was all over Brielle. He stayed with her all night till now as we speak. He didn’t go home to sleep, nor did he make plans to come and see you because of that woman. And the most interesting part of it was that he single handedly made her breakfast. Isn’t that sweet of him?” Jerome grinned, clasping his hands together.
To him, it’s funny, but to me… This is a nightmare! All night he has been with Brielle and didn’t stay with me? I’m his Bride-to-be!
“No, you’re… You’re lying to me. Argon didn’t do anything like that. You’re only messing with me.”
“Why don’t you see for yourself then. I don’t mind taking you to the room to witness your Alpha taking care of another woman. Maybe that way, you’ll see that your child’s death has no effect on him, ” Jerome pointed, showing his readiness to prove me wrong.
But with what he had said, I was desperate to see Argon and Brielle, and to know if what Jerome was saying was true or not.
Out of curiosity, I agreed.
Jerome carefully helped me out of bed and carefully walked me down to this room he claims Brielle was admitted in.
And when we arrived, I spotted Argon sitting beside Brielle! To top it up, the councils and Sir Derek were also present to see Brielle. They were talking to them, especially to Brielle, and praising her for saving my life.
“You risked your life in saving Estelle’s. You are indeed a queen, ” Sir Derek commented, leaving that wretch blushing.
And what did Argon do? He just say there, smiling at all these. His eyes where on Brielle, keeping all his focus on her only.
“Have you seen it? Does that look like a man who just lost a child? No.” Jerome chuckled at me in mockery.
It left me bittered! I thought Argon was crying about our loss and struggling to come and see me, but no… he’s here with Brielle, having fun!
“You better step up your game and act fast, because I can see your face in his history. You’re losing him.”
His words stabbed me deeply. I refuse to become Argon’s history, but his future. I won’t allow Brielle to take my place. Never.
