BRIELLE
“I don’t believe her! That woman is lying!” Tania sparked, pacing about in my room.
It was night and Argon wasn’t back from his quest. I just stood close to the window, patiently waiting for his arrival.
“So close! You were so close to your goal, but she shows up and blows a big lie about being pregnant. Once Alpha Argon learns the truth, oh she’d be in so much…”
“Estelle isn’t lying,” I chipped in, cutting a furious Tania halfway.
“What? ” She uttered in disbelief.
I turned around to face my loyal maid, repeating my words. “She’s not lying. Estelle is indeed pregnant.”
“But how can you be so sure? That’s Estelle we’re talking about here. You can’t believe her lies.”
“Yes, she’s still the same annoying Estelle we know, but this time around…” I faced the window again, crossing my arms. “She’s telling the truth. She’s carrying Argon’s baby in her womb. And I could easily tell, since I used to be a mother myself.”
On hearing that statement, Tania’s voice changed. She sounded sad. “Oh, I… That’s true. You once had his child in you, and you….” She paused.
I didn’t mind about the past. What has happened has happened.
All I have to do is focus on the present and the new changes in my plan. Estelle’s pregnancy has brought a whole new twist to the game.
How did I know she was pregnant? Well let’s say someone’s nose perceived an unpleasant odor in the mansion.
When Argon left the dining to face Estelle and her father, I felt relieved and decided to eat quickly before he comes back to hold me down with his talks.
But that’s when my nose began to twitch in a strange way. Bane was picking up a different smell coming from Estelle.
I couldn’t tell what it was, but my wolf, who has been in my body even before she was unleashed, told me what it was.
“Is that a fetus I smell in Estelle?” Bane had groaned out, causing my heart to skip in shock.
That took me out of my comfort zone and straight to the battleground, were Argon was refusing to accept Estelle’s words.
I was shocked, but had to compose myself and act mature in this situation.
“So what now? Now that Estelle is pregnant, Alpha Argon might bring her into his home and she’ll make everything difficult for us.”
“We shall see about that, my dear. Only time would tell,” I said, letting out a smirk.
All of a sudden, Argon’s car came pulling up right in front of the mansion. The sight of his vehicle brought a wave of desperation in me.
I needed to hear the news from him, even though I know the answer.
Quickly, I exited the room, telling Tania to wait for me. I carefully made my way to the staircase, to see Argon.
The helpless man walked sluggishly into the mansion, with his head bowed.
His beta had shown up to attend to him, and all Argon did was shun him aside, telling him to leave him alone.
“But Alpha…”
“Jerome!” He groaned out, making his beta drift back in fear.
But when this furious puppy lifted his eyes to the top of the stairs and saw me, I saw those raging eyes turning dull, filled with pains.
“Oh, the pain of being a father in an unexpected way. Should we call this another phase of happiness or sorrow?” Bane mocked, as we patiently waited for him.
Argon came up the stairs and stood before me. His hands wobbling to the back of his neck, unable to speak.
“Positive?” That was the question I asked, tilting my head to the side.
Argon still couldn’t voice out a response. He lowered his head down and finally spoke out his worry. “All the hospitals I visited with Estelle, brought back the same result. She’s… She’s pregnant,” He groaned.
“That’s good news then.”
“What?” Argon lifted his head to face me. He was looking surprised at my response.
“The woman you dreamt of is finally carrying your child. You should be happy than sulking in misery. This means your wedding is back on, and I can get those decorators to resume with their work, ” I said, acting so excited with the news.
My behavior only shocked Argon, who wasn’t expecting this from me.
“What are you saying? Have you forgotten that I rejected Estelle?”
“Yeah, you did. And now she’s expecting your baby. You have no choice but to take her back and be a father to that little one,” I advised, pointing at him.
Still, Argon wasn’t pleased with this.
He groaned out and began giving me so many reasons why he can’t take Estelle back. “She’s the worst person I’ve ever met. There are so many things she has done that I can’t even begin to list.”
“Yeah, like the things you have done in the past aren’t worst than Estelle’s. He needs an award for being a saint,” Bane joked within, finding Argon’s complain to be hilarious.
I crossed my arms, listening to Argon rant and vent his detest for Estelle.
“I don’t want to have anything to do with her ever again. She can go and rot for all I care.”
“So you want to abandon that innocent child in her womb?” I questioned, getting all serious.
Argon stood his ground and made his decision. “She can take care of that thing by herself, because I won’t be it’s father. Never!”
“Yes, just like you did with mine, isn’t it? ” I fired, smirking at Argon.
His rage suddenly faded at my words. He wasn’t expecting me to bring his past action on our innocent baby.
“Are you planning to leave the child in Estelle or kill it like the way you did with ours?”
“Brielle, what are you… It’s not what you think. I can’t…”
“Quit stammering, Argon!” I raised my voice, leaving him astonished.
“I was never your love interest from the start, but you still made love to me even when I didn’t want to,” I reminded him, glaring into his eyes.
He stared back frozen, unable to speak back to me.
“Despite your adulterous act with Estelle, I was hoping that child would bring peace between us. But what did you do? ” I poked his chest, causing him to stagger backwards.
“That innocent live didn’t get the chance to meet his parents, because his father felt it was unwanted. He had plans to make his beloved Estelle the mother of his children. How wonderful!” I clapped sarcastically, cheering at him in mockery.
Then I gasped out, cupping my face, saying, “But what’s this? Now that his Estelle finally has a child for him, he wants to get rid of it as well? ”
“That’s not it, Brielle! I don’t plan on killing the child!” He swayed his head, defending himself.
But I was hell bent on making him feel the guilt of his actions. “But you don’t want to accept the child, just like the way you did with my baby. The only best solution you cherish is killing the child. Isn’t that the truth?!”
“Brielle!” Argon yelled, grabbing my arms and pushing me backwards.
I groaned at his action, feeling irritated with the way he was holding me. “Let go of me!” I struggled to break free, but Argon wouldn’t budge.
He had me against the wall, trying to control his anger. “I don’t plan to kill that child. I’m… I’m just confused on what to do. I don’t know how to handle this mess.”
“Mess?” I scoffed, forcing his hands off my body.
“The only way you can fix this mess is by accepting that baby. If your father were alive, I’m sure he’d have said the same thing.”
Argon lifted his gaze at me. He looked so weak and pathetic.
I had to cool my temper and pose as a caring person before Argon.
“Estelle had hurt you in the past, and now she’s expecting your first child. Just for the sake of that innocent baby, accept her back into your life again. I’m sure with time, you’d come to love her like before,” I advised innocently, wiping off imaginary tears from my eyes.
Argon saw this. He must think I care about the little one since I lost mine.
He must be insane if he thinks that. But who cares?
“Forgive her and accept the pregnancy. When you’re in good terms, don’t forget to inform me about your plans for the wedding. If you still have no answer, then I’ll fix a date myself.”
I sighed, wrapping my arms across my chest.
Argon stared at my face, making an attempt to touch me. But I was swift to step back, walking away from him.
“Brielle,” He called, but I didn’t answer him.
A few steps away from Argon, Bane began to applaud my acting skills. “You deserve a crown my sweet Brielle. Playing the victim again, huh?”
“The best card in the deck,” I chuckled, drawing nearer to my room.
“So, we wait for that witch to step back into this mansion and attack her? Or what is your plan, Bane?” I asked my wolf, opening the door.
“Not yet.”
“Not yet? Why?” I paused my steps, still holding the knob.
Just then, I heard Jerome’s voice near the staircase. I turned my head to the side and found him with Argon, trying to talk to him.
“I’m curious about this foolish Beta. There’s something off about his behavior. And I’m going to find out what he’s up to.”
“Jerome?” I was confused.
I watched how Jerome tried to seek for Argon’s forgiveness, but Argon walked out of his sight in anger.
Jerome’s eyes came my way, and for a second, I thought I saw him glare at me.
I know I’m not that good in sensing things around, except for Bane. But if she feels Jerome is a target, then so be it.
