ARGON
All I asked from Estelle was some time, but she began to throw a tantrum, thinking I want to dump her for good.
“Don’t you love me any more? I thought our love was strong?!” She cried, pacing around the room with her hands covering her face.
I didn’t know what else to say to her. She was just making a fuss over nothing, and it was getting on my nerves.
“Estelle, can you just stop this.”
“Stop?” She dropped her hands down to face me. Her eyes all red from too much crying, as she asked, stepping closer to me, ” You want me to stop? Argon, you’re telling me to do something I can never do! I love you so much, I really want to see us together, but you’re talking about a break?”
“ESTELLE?!” I roared, causing her to gasp in fear.
She’s getting on my nerves!
With all that’s happening, she’s busy thinking about love instead of how I’ll get my position back. What is wrong with her?
“Are you not on this planet?! Can’t you see what I’m going through?!” I questioned, yelling at her.
She stared back, shivering with sadness in her eyes. She may think I’m being cruel towards her, but she doesn’t know that most of the things I’m facing is because of her.
“Estelle, look…” I groaned, pulling her closer to myself. “All I need is some time to myself. Is this how you want us to get married, with all these haters on our neck?”
“No, ” She grumbled out, crossing her arms.
“Then please, I am begging you now. Give me some time to get myself on track. You are hearing the word please, so don’t act like you didn’t.”
I pleaded with her again.
And finally, she agreed. She sniffed and gave me a hug, apologizing for acting crazy.
I want to forgive her, but knowing that she has done a lot of things behind my back… Makes it even harder for me to shove it aside.
“I’ll do as you say. But if you need anything, don’t forget to reach me. I am here for, Argon,” She said, embracing me tight.
“Noted,” I responded to her words.
“I’ll take my leave now, ” She said, letting go and wiping her tears.
I even helped her in cleaning her tears, before escorting her to the entrance of my mansion.
She waved goodbye to me and got into her car, leaving the premises, while I stared at her vehicle, thinking of the problems we’re facing.
What do I mean by we?
I’m the one facing all these problems, and they’re mostly caused by Estelle. She brought this upon me.
I sighed, stepping back into my home, just thinking of what my future holds.
As I was making an approach to the stairs, Brielle came passing my front, talking to a maid.
My heart had skipped when she walked in front with this maid, talking about something I really didn’t hear about.
She was looking so different, showing this new side of her even more.
It almost looked like she didn’t see me or maybe she’s just ignoring my presence like I didn’t exist.
Her words from yesterday flooded my head, over the fact that I always support Estelle without making my investigations.
And she was right.
She wasn’t the one who almost shamed me before people during the award ceremony, but the woman I gave my whole heart to.
She did this to me.
I watched Brielle entering the living room with this maid. It got me thinking of the councils decision over my position and how she holds the final say to my future.
“Why don’t you speak to her? ” Jerome’s voice echoed in my mind, leaving me troubled.
“Speaking won’t help. If I want her to save me, I have to please her every desire. Yes, I’ll just have to force myself to bear with her, until I’m ready for my wedding. Before then, she would have forgiven me,” I planned, having a sense that this would work.
All what Brielle needs is my attention. I haven’t been giving it to her, that’s what contributed to this change in her.
“Seems that’s what I’ll be doing now. Once I’ve gotten her on my side again, I can get my throne back, ” I settled.
.
That night, I learnt from the helpers that Brielle was in her room, eating her dinner. I decided to pay her a visit.
“Alright, Show her you care, ” I puffed out, holding my own food in my hand while heading for her room.
When I got to the door of her room, I heard Brielle talking to Tania about my wedding.
“I saw this dress. It says a lot about Estelle. Maybe I’ll show her this when next she comes, so she’d get them, ” She planned.
This made me uncomfortable. She’s so eager to get me married and leave my life for good.
But she won’t leave this place until she has given me what I want.
Pushing the door open, the two ladies immediately looked at my direction, gazing in surprise.
“Argon?” Brielle called, lifting her brow.
Her food was on her lap while Tania had a fashion magazine in hers.
“What are you doing here? ” Brielle asked.
Since I was here already, I had to go with the flow and try my luck. It’s better to start now than later.
With a smile, I said, “I was just heading to my room and head you talking about my wedding. I just… Got curious.”
That’s a good start.
Brielle and Tania still stared at me with their brows lifted. I couldn’t tell if they were buying my words or not.
“Wait, isn’t your room the other…” Tania almost pointed out, but stopped midway.
Is she picking my lies already?
That’s when Brielle said, “That’s fine. It’s good that you came by. We were actually picking something for your bride.”
“Oh… That’s good, ” I uttered, feeling relieved.
I stepped in and sat at the other side of the bed, looking at Brielle and Tania. The maid had gotten to her feet, standing next to Brielle, so I could have a good look at the wedding dress Brielle picked.
“I think Estelle will be fine with this. You can send this pic to her and know what she thinks.”
“Yeah, yeah. Send it to her,” I said, nodding.
But my mind wasn’t there. I was thinking of how to start the conversation of my problem to Brielle.
What if she says No?
After the way she raged at me in the kitchen yesterday, I’ve been unable to recover from it.
Now, I was troubled.
“Did you hear what I said?”
“Huh? ” I looked at her, noticing both of them staring at me.
I didn’t listen to what she was saying because I was lost in my thoughts. Now I don’t know what to do or say.
Why am I feeling uncomfortable?!
“What did you say? ” I asked her, trying to sound calm.
“I said your food is sliding its way to the floor,” She said, directing her eyes to my lap.
When I looked, I realized I had caused my meal to pour on my trousers straight to the ground, and I didn’t know.
“Shoot! I didn’t see that. I’m sorry,” I apologized, getting ready to go on my knees and pick the meal.
“Don’t worry. I’ll do it, ” Tania volunteered, stopping me.
I appreciated her help, sitting back to face Brielle. Only to meet her gazing at me, suspiciously.
“Um… What? Is there something on my face?” I asked, feeling strange.
I could pick an uncomfortable aura coming from Brielle as she gazed at me with a seriousness. It got my heart pounding!
I’ve never felt uneasy with her before. It’s like I’m talking to a superior. Is it because of the fact that my future lies in her hands?
“Tell me…” She placed her food aside, crossing her laps. “Where you just passing by and heard us talking or you intentionally came down here to talk to me?”
“What? No! Why say that?” I chuckled, trying to hide my worry.
Was it visible in my behavior?
I don’t want her to suspect my plans. If she knows what I’m here for, she may never help me.
“Like I said, I was just passing by,” I lied, smiling at Brielle.
But her face showed she wasn’t buying it.
Suddenly, I felt my whole body submitting to Brielle. I don’t know how to point it out, but it felt like my wolf didn’t want any problem with her.
With a sigh, I said to Brielle, “Look… I’m… I’m sorry for all that I’ve done to you. I know I have caused you great pains that I can never atone for.”
Her serious gaze slowly came calm. I could finally breath without a pounding heart.
“All the punishments I’m receiving now… I deserve it, ” I accepted, nodding before Brielle.
“I took a lot from you, Brielle. And that’s enough to make you hate me. But… Before you leave, can we… let bygones be bygones and be friends? I’d be glad if… we can forget the past and start afresh,” I suggested, feeling strange after making such an apology to her.
It was so hard!
I stared at Brielle, who hummed at me, saying, ” It’s easier said than done, Argon. You’ve done a lot of things that I can’t easily forget. So, taking you as a friend is going to be hard. It may never happen and it may, if the goddess want that.”
“So… Is that a No? ” I asked, sensing her final decision.
But Brielle smirked and said, “I think you should head to the dining and eat, Argon. You must be hungry.”
She got to her feet, making her way to the corner, were her clothes were kept, picking out her night wear.
” Luna Brielle wishes to have her rest now. I’ll serve you, Alpha. Please come,” Tania said, coming before me after tossing away the food I messed up.
It was clear to my face. Brielle doesn’t want to talk about the past nor does she plan on having me in her new life.
“No need. I’ll head there myself,” I said to Tania, stopping her from following me.
I just got to my feet and did as Brielle wanted. I left the room, heading to mine.
“It’s a step by step process, Argon. I’m sure she’ll accept me one day,” I hoped, heading for my room instead of the dining.
I lost my appetite already.
