ARGON
“Where is she?!”
I stormed out of the living room after pulling myself back from my nightmare. The pains and shame where still swelling inside of me, and I needed to burst it out on the one responsible.
“Where is she I said?!” I roared at the servants, who drew back against the walls, shivering with their heads bowed.
Only one was bold enough to point towards the kitchen, saying, ” She’s in there, Alpha.”
I dropped my eyes directly at the entrance of the kitchen, making my way there.
“That fool! That… That…” I groaned with fury.
“Alpha, be gentle. You don’t want things to escalate more than it has, ” Jerome advised, following me from behind.
But do I look like one who’s ready for an advice? My reputation has been ruined and he’s giving me an advice at this time?!
“Don’t make me rage at you, Jerome,” I warned, walking faster than him.
And when I arrived into the kitchen, I met Brielle leaning on the counter, eating her breakfast like nothing ever happened.
That maid of hers, Tania, stood beside her with a glass of juice, watching how she ate with delight.
The moment Tania saw me, she shivered, except for Brielle. She was still eating, pretending not to notice me.
“Just look at her! After shattering my world, she’s eating?” I glared, stepping fully into the kitchen and right before her.
Still, she kept her eyes on her meal, taking each bite with pleasure all around her face.
With anger, I voiced out, ” After going against my order, ruining me before the councils and shattering my reputation, you are here eating my food?!”
Brielle moaned when she took in another spoon, facing her maid for a drink.
“This is so good. You really know how to cook, Tania, ” She praised the maid, taking the juice for a drink.
I was marvelled by this person before me. She can not be Brielle. I wonder who this woman was exactly.
The Brielle I know wouldn’t dare to ignore my voice or my presence. By now, she’d be trembling at my feet with her head bowed. But this one… She completely neglected my existence.
“Hmmm, I love this drink. Mango, right?” She asked her maid, who nodded at her question.
Annoyed by this, I slammed the juice out of her hand, sending the glass shattering into pieces.
This caused Tania to drift back in fear and Jerome to yell out my name in shock. “Alpha!”
“Don’t ignore me when I’m talking!” I raised my voice at Brielle, who was still pretending not to notice me.
Her hand was still cupped in the last position it was in, before she smiled out to nothing, ready to resume with her meal.
And just like the drink, I tossed the meal aside, sending it crashing to the floor. That finally brought her gaze falling on me with a glare.
She didn’t utter a word but stared.
“I am talking to you and you’re still ignoring me?! Have you forgotten your place in my mansion?!” I roared out, showing off my dominance.
Yet, she kept up with her annoying attitude.
With disrespect, Brielle dared to yawn at my front, covering her mouth and stretching her arms out.
That drew the line.
“You Wretch!!”
Out of anger, I forcefully reached and grabbed her neck, using my wolf strength to grip on tight.
“ALPHA!!” Jerome and Tania screamed out, making an attempt to stop me.
But to my greatest surprise…
“DON’T!!” Brielle roared, slapping my hand off her neck with her strength. “Don’t you ever touch me with those dirty hands again. Don’t ever!!” She roared, glowering at me.
I was shocked to the core. Not just because of how she slapped my hand, but the strength she used in pulling it from her neck.
I… I felt it again.
I felt that vibration from last time.
It was… Strong.
“I have had enough of your nonsense, Argon. Did you think I’d just sit down and allow you to harrass me like all these years? Did you?!” She sparked, drawing closer to me.
For the first time ever, my feet came drawing back from Brielle. I couldn’t understand the sudden aura escaping her body. It was so intense.
“Oh, did you think that when you yell and grab me like an ant, I’d foolishly say yes like before? No, Argon, not anymore.” She swayed her head.
“The Brielle you always tormented for being your wife, for being a burden in your life, for blocking your chance of being with your true love… That Brielle slipped into a coma the day you took her only joy away, ” She said with seriousness.
Her eyes, they were slowly dripping out tears, revealing her inner pain.
I have always stared at her wet eyes in the past and laughed about it, but this one was different. It… It was striking deep.
“Even in her coma, you began to kill her step by step, ignoring her request and innocence. You wanted her dead, and you finally killed her. That poor, sad, useless, worthless orphan who always cried for you, yearned for you, and even loved you with all of her heart… Died miserably. And bet it, she is never coming back,” She said, wiping her tears with a swipe across her face.
“Tell me this, Argon. Did you think that after everything you did to me, after all the pains and trauma, I’d still remain in that position and do whatever you want? I mean…” She scoffed out, lifting her arms to show Jerome, Tania, and the servants who came over to watch.
“You want me to help you cover up your secrets. Instead of a please, you just grabbed me like a moron, commanding me to go and spread the Gospel of how beautiful our marriage is, huh? Isn’t that right, Argon?” She laughed, demonstrating how I had grabbed her in the room, using Tania.
“He said, GO AND TELL THEM WE ARE HAPPY,” she mimicked my voice, trying to copy my walking posture.
All what she was doing, left me astonished. I… I don’t recognize her anymore.
She calmed her laughter and said, looking at me again, “Argon… No woman in her right sense, will stay back after going through hell like I did. I lost my baby because of you, but still… I remained because of my late father in law. And was it because of love?”
She lifted her brow, almost like she was waiting for my answer. I couldn’t speak, but stare. In fact, I couldn’t feel myself anymore.
She shrugged, saying, “Yes, it was love. Not just love for your father, but for you as well.”
Her mood came all calm again, almost as if she was back to her old self.
“That love I had for you all these years, was the same love that held me back, even after all the evil you did to me and our… No, my baby, because you never loved it, ” She corrected, patting her stomach that once carried our child.
“That same love I used in serving you like a fool, taking all your insults and beating, even when I was accused wrongly of something I never did. And the painful part of it is that you don’t investigate. You don’t!” she uttered loudly.
My eyes blinked at her voice, and my feet drew back once more.
“The moment Estelle tells you it’s Brielle… BAM! ” She clapped her hand. “It’s Brielle. If something bad happens to any of your belongings or to someone close… BAM!!” Again, she clapped. “It’s Brielle.”
“For once… Did you ever think about this Brielle who has been by your side, even though you disliked her… if she was capable of such?”
She smirked at me and said, “I have been with you and knew about your secret affairs with Estelle before you started showing her off in my front. Did I attack her? Did I fight her off? No, I didn’t. ”
Her voice sounded low like a fallen soldier in battle. She gave a sigh accompanied with a smile, saying, ” For once, I wanted to see a sign of love for me in your eyes, or even a sign of care. But you never showed it to me. And you think I’ll still nurture that love I’ve been keeping for you in my heart all these time and follow all your orders? No, not anymore. ” She swayed her head at me, stepping back towards Tania.
Her eyes were already welling with tears, as she sniffed, facing aside to ignore my gaze.
I’ve been silent all through, unable to vent my rage at her, and that’s because it faded after feeling that vibration from her.
My rage was gone.
“I’ve already told you what I want. So, you and Estelle better be fast with your wedding date and let me know. I can’t stand you anymore, so you better do the needful,” She said, finally walking out on me.
My eyes followed Brielle, who was escorted out by Tania. I stood there like a dummy, thinking of all her words.
“Alpha, are you okay?” Jerome asked, placing his hand on my shoulder.
“Ignore her, Alpha. You know if you do anything to her, she will use it against you on your wedding day. Just be calm, ” Jerome advised, reminding me of my downfall.
That revived my bitterness, sending me storming out of the kitchen and straight for my room.
“DAMN IT!” I roared, barging into my room with fury. My hands grabbing my head, as I paced about, thinking of all the troubles I’m in.
“Ive been removed. Goddess! This can’t be happening. I’ll be ruined, ” I groaned, still pacing from one wall to the other.
“Only Brielle can save me. But in this her rage… Oh shit! I stand no chance of saving myself. I…” I paused, recalling the vibration and Brielle’s strong words to me.
It’s clear from her gaze that she no longer has feelings for me anymore. All I can see is hatred.
“But why do I keep getting that strong vibration whenever I touch her? This is the second time I’ll be feeling it from her, ” I wondered to myself.
Just as I was thinking, a strong odor engulfed my nose in an instant. It pulled me out of my thoughts, sending me covering my nose.
“What is that?” I uttered, looking for where the smell was coming from.
“Wait… I’ve smelt this before,” I sniffed, trying to remember where.
As I traced this smell, my eyes came falling on the wardrobe. I saw something dripping out from the edges, like liquid.
This got me pulling the wardrobe open to find mine and some of Estelle’s clothes melting!
“What?!” I was stunned, wondering how this was possible.
That’s when I remembered the smell.
“It’s that Chemical I perceived on that suit during my award ceremony,” I recalled at once.
“How did it get here?”
Right in the corner was a container covered up with melted clothes and papers. I managed to pull it out from the top to see it was a bottle which had the chemical in it, and worst…
“Is this a receipt?” I noticed the paper glued to the top.
It had the buyer’s name on it.
“Estelle?” My heart sank, seeing both her name and the date it was bought. It was a day to my ceremony.
“So, Brielle… She was telling the truth? ” I realized in an instant.
Estelle… She was the one who dipped my suit in the chemical, not Brielle!
