ESTELLE
The party had begun and the mansion hall was filled with both wealthy businessmen and women, and Royal guests from other packs.
I was with my father, who came over to celebrate Argon’s success. He couldn’t stop talking to other Alpha’s about Argon, praising him before them.
“He’s like a son to me. I was so happy when I heard he won, ” Father chatted with the others, drinking his wine.
Though I was standing beside him, I didn’t feel good one bit. And that’s because my Argon wasn’t with me.
We both came to the party together, but parted at the sight of those old wolves that call themselves the council members.
Their presence made Argon panic a bit. He had to tell me to act like we’re not together.
“They don’t know anything about our relationship yet. So, just act like you’re just here to celebrate and nothing else, ” He had discussed before leaving to attend to them.
Since that time, I’ve been bored and lonely.
“Where is he? ” I wondered, hovering my gaze around.
Just as I was searching for Argon, my wolf immediately picked his sweat scent from behind.
That bloomed my heart, sending me turning around to find him at the corner with his Beta.
“Oh, thank the heavens. He’s all alone with Jerome, ” I said with a smile, looking for where the council members could be.
But they weren’t around.
“Maybe they left the party early. After all, they are old. This party isn’t for oldies like themselves,” I mocked, drawing away from my father to meet Argon.
My body has been yearning to be closer to him. It wasn’t just me, but my wolf.
Keeping my inner beast away from her mate isn’t right. They need to be together. I need to be with my Argon.
When I got close, I heard Argon talking about something relating with the company.
But on seeing me, his face bloomed with a smile.
“Estelle,” He called my name, putting a break to his conversation with Jerome.
With delight, I drew closer to him, taking hold of his hand which was extended out to me.
“My love, I’ve been looking for you. You just left me all alone, ” I grumbled, showing my unhappiness.
Argon pulled me to his side, clenching my hand in his hold with a sweet smile across his face.
“Forgive me, my love. You know I had to work things out with the council members. They have been following me like flies, asking annoying questions about the company and my marriage,” Argon shared, looking disturbed.
I could under how he was feeling and wished I could hold him close for comfort.
But with all these people here, I can’t do it.
Just then, and idea came to mind. One I know would satisfy both mine and Argon’s burning desire.
“How about I head to your room and you come join me. What do you say?” I asked, winking at Argon.
He immediately grabbed my message, letting out a cunning smirk.
“You naughty girl. You just can’t wait for the party to end.”
“I can’t help it. I really need you, ” I whispered, biting down on my lower lip.
Argon and I chuckled lightly over the plan, while Jerome looked away with a flush, groaning out.
He better look the other way when his Alpha and Luna are making out. Well, not really making out.
You get the point.
Just as we were talking, Jerome tapped Argon from the other hand, saying in a groan, “They are coming!”
The moment he said that, Argon released my hand from his hold, drawing away from my side.
I was stunned by his action, but immediately grabbed why he did that.
Those oldies!
They are coming!
I thought they left?
“How are you enjoying the party? ” Argon asked getting back into character.
I remained by his side, acting like a normal guest who just came to see a friend, while they stared at Argon, humming.
“Not a bad party. It’s nice,” The first said, hovering his gaze around.
“It fits your style, since you’re the Alpha, ” The second, and old woman, said, staring at Argon.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying yourselves,” Argon said, smiling at them.
But what the third said left us all in distress.
“I don’t see your Luna, Alpha Argon. Where is she?” The third questioned, fixing his gaze on Argon.
My body shivered when he asked that question, getting disturbed.
“Why did he have to ask about her? ” I glared back at this old fool, who is trying to ruin our mood.
“Oh, Brielle? Well…” Argon had started, but didn’t know how to complete his words.
“She was… Um…”
“Luna Brielle is sick, ” I chipped in, helping Argon.
The council members dropped their eyes on me, lifting their brow.
“She couldn’t join the party, so Alpha Argon decided to leave her in the room so she’d get better, ” I shared, adding more to my lies.
But the council members kept staring at me oddly. It was as if they could read the li6e across my face.
“Yes, like she said. Brielle is ill. A terrible incident occurred for the both of us and she has been on medication. She couldn’t join the party but stay in bed, ” Argon supported, using Brielle’s loss to spice it up.
This should get them to shut up.
“And you’re here throwing a party like she doesn’t matter to you?” The first questioned, lifting his brow at Argon.
When this question came, I felt a sting in my heart. I bet Argon felt that too.
But Is he for real?
So, because Brielle is sick, Argon shouldn’t throw a party?
I was set to fire some words at them when Jerome intervened just in time.
“Alpha, it’s time for Luna Brielle’s medication.”
“Oh, thank you, ” Argon played along.
He thanked the council members for coming, telling them to have fun.
Then he faced me and said, “I’ll be in the room attending to my… Wife.”
His right eye blinked at me, giving me the sign.
Naughty. I know what he means.
I played along, acting like a friend to Argon. He immediately left with Jerome, leaving me with the council members.
Just as I was planning to leave…
“So, Estelle…” The second, the only woman in their midst, called me.
I had tightened my hand into a fist, holding my detest for them, back.
Spreading out a smile, I faced them to know what they wanted from me.
“Yes?” I said.
“When do you plan on getting married? You are a grown woman with a successful career. Isn’t it time for you to settle down?” She asked, grinning at me.
A chuckle escaped my mouth, thinking of my plan with Argon.
Feeling that twinkle in my heart, I answered, “You don’t have to worry about that. Very soon, you’ll all be invited to my wedding.”
“Oh, really? May we know who the groom is? ” They asked with curiousness.
One can’t tell if they mean this curiosity or they are trying to mock me.
But I wasn’t going to tell them who.
“Well, I’m sorry but…”
“Luna, your Alpha would like to see you in the bedroom, ” A familiar voice said right next to me, leaving me shocked.
Who’s this animal that’s calling me Luna right in front of the council members?
And did she just mention bedroom out loud?!
I quickly turned to see who was talking and found that annoying maid that serves Brielle!
“Oh! This witch! After all the yelling and corrections, she finally remembered to call me her Luna, and right in front of the members? Oh, you’re dead!” I glared, wishing to stab this venom into a million pieces.
“Luna?” The council members uttered, sparking my fear.
I turned to face them and noticed how they stared in confusion.
I didn’t know what to say but giggle, trying to cover up what this moron had uttered.
“No, she didn’t mean it like that. She…”
“I thought you said I should start calling…”
“Be quiet! Can’t you see we’re talking?!” I shunned her, flashing my eyes at her.
She came silent, delivery a nasty stare right at me.
But instead of staying shut, she kept on talking. “I have other things to do. Please, your father is waiting for you in the Alpha’s bedroom. He needs your presence,” She said, walking out of my sight.
The audacity!
But wait…
“Father?” I muttered, letting out a smile.
I could feel my heart beating with both relief and anger. The idiot would have just said that, than using the title Luna in front of the council members.
Facing them, I came up with a lie of how my father, Alpha Deron, wishes for the servants to call me that, in preparation for my wedding.
“Even Argon supported that, since he’s my friend.”
“Oh, so it’s an Alpha you’re getting married to? ”
“Yes, ” I answered, nodding my head.
Not wanting this to escalate into another thing, I immediately excused myself to go and meet father and Argon in the room.
I was finally free!
“Why is father there? Still, I’m happy he went to the room. That demon almost exposed us! That maid… I’m going to make I smell my fist after this party,” I promised, storming up the stairs.
