CHAPTER 14

ARGON
I stepped in fully, drawing closer to Brielle. She just stared at me in confusion, looking back at her hand, then at mine.
She doesn’t know why I want her to hold her hand, but I do.
I want to feel that wave once again. I need to know what it is.
Standing before Brielle, I tilted my hand, repeating my order, “Give me your hand. ”
“Oh… Okay.” She shivered, lifting it.
I stared, patiently waiting for it to fall right into my palm.
And when she placed her hand on mine, I felt… Nothing. There was no wave like before. It was just plain. Almost like an empty space.
I couldn’t feel that vibration any longer.
“Why? I know what I felt. Why can’t I detect it again?” I grumbled within.
“Is something wrong?” She asked, but I ignored her.
“Is it because I’m not holding her properly? Maybe that’s why, ” I assumed.
Out of desperation, I clenched on to Brielle’s hand, leaving her stunned by my action. She wasn’t expecting that.
But the reaction she gave was perfect. It’s just like the way she shivered when Estelle yelled at her, during the celebration.
But despite this, I still didn’t feel anything.
It was just bare.
“How come? Am I missing something?” I asked within, trying to understand why I couldn’t detect that strong energy that came from her.
It’s not like I didn’t use my wolf sense. It’s currently active. I used that to try and trace the vibration, but nothing.
“Alpha, any problem?” Brielle asked, staring into my eyes.
I looked at her, giving no response. All I did was release her hand from my grip, stepping away from her.
“Get back to work,” I ordered, turning my back at her, all set to leave with nothing but disappointment.
“So, was that my imagination playing a game on me? But I felt something strong coming from her.”
I was foiled by this, walking towards the door to leave, when I stopped on my track.
I turned back to look at Brielle once more. She had already taken her seat to attend to Estelle’s clothes, acting like she was never surprised some minutes ago.
It felt like I was in the room with a different person and not her.
Watching her getting set to wash, I felt a sudden feeling engulfing my heart. The feeling of concern.
“Damn it! Why am I even bothering myself with this?” I questioned within, finding this unlike me.
“Do you need something else? ” Brielle asked, gaining my attention.
I found her staring back, as she repeated her question, asking if there was something I needed.
But what could I possibly want from her?
The only thing that I thought I could get was just a figment of my imagination. I can’t believe I had assumed such energy came from a weakling like her.
She has no strength in her, not even a wolf of her own.
How could I have been such a fool to fall for my own silliness?
“It must have been over thinking. I have a lot in mind after all, ” I believed.
“Are you hungry? ” Brielle asked, rising to her feet.
“I can fix up something quickly for you to eat. Let me just…”
“Did I ask for food? ” I questioned with anger in my voice.
Brielle froze at her spot, lowering her head down.
“If I am hungry, will I come here to ask you when I have servants? Just face the work given to you by your Luna.”
“Yes, Alpha,” she uttered, sitting down to wash.
Her face filled with sadness, picking one of Estelle’s dresses from the floor.
“What a joke. Asking if I want to eat anything. Nonsense.” I scoffed, turning around to leave.
But just as I was about to step out of the washroom…
“Congratulations on your success, ” Brielle wished me, stopping me.
My heart skipped when she made that wish, sending my feet turning around to face her.
That’s how I found Brielle, smiling at me with glittering tears in her eyes. She was holding it back, as she wished me once again, saying, “I wish you more success in your work, Alpha. You deserved the win.”
She curved her lips lightly, turning her face away with a sniff.
This struck me in the way I least expected.
I could feel my body vibrating after hearing seeing those glittering tears in her eyes.
Unable to stand this, I stormed out of the washroom, heading back to my room.
Her face, the tears within her eyes… Why do they affect me?
“That woman. Did I ask for her wish?” I groaned, storming into my bedroom and shutting the door from behind with a loud bang.
.
The following day, I decided to stay back at home and get myself ready for my upcoming award ceremony.
My Beta was the one at the company, taking charge of the work while I stayed back to enjoy my day.
And mostly, I didn’t want to miss my lovely Estelle’s arrival.
She has promised me to give me something special this morning, and I didn’t want to miss the moment.
Just as I was thinking about my sweetheart, I caught sight of Brielle cleaning the pathway with a mop.
Her presence suddenly sent a disturbing aura, taking my mind to last night’s incident between us.
I flushed the scene, not wanting to think of her face or the tears that welled in her eyes.
“Hasn’t she slept yet?” I wondered, watching her mop.
And from her face, it showed that she hasn’t gotten enough rest after attending to that mountain of clothes belonging to Estelle.
“Why do I care? If she falls ill again I won’t do anything. I won’t waste my money on a slave like her, ” I groaned, rolling my eyes from her point.
Just then, someone’s presence brightened my heart.
“Sweetie! I’m home!” Estelle called out, holding a shopping bag in her hands while rushing towards me.
Excited to see her, I warmly welcomed her into my arms with a kiss, squeezing her closely.
“Waw! Looks like someone missed me, ” She chuckled, kissing my cheek.
“I got you something lovely, Argon,” She said, sitting on the couch with me while placing the shopping bag on the table.
Opening the bag, Estelle took out a set of nice and expensive suits from inside, handing them over to me.
“This is for you. I want you to wear one of this suits on the day of your award ceremony. When everyone sees you in this dazzling attire, they will know that Alpha Argon has arrived,” She said, getting excited.
I smiled at Estelle, thanking her for the suits, but… They’re not my taste.
“They are great, but I don’t think they will do,” I opened up to Estelle, about to hand the suits back to her.
But her face expression held me on my track.
Estelle was looking displeased by my response to her gift. It was clear she wasn’t happy.
“You don’t like what your Luna got for you? Argon, these suits are expensive and made with rare materials. How can you not like it? ” She asked, getting upset.
I tried to make her understand why I didn’t like the suit, but Estelle wouldn’t listen.
Instead, she suggested that I try them on and see how good they were.
“Come on, we’ll test it out. Then you’ll see I made the right choice, ” She said, taking hold of my hand and leading me out of the living room.
In no time, we where in the bedroom.
Estelle handed me one of the suits to wear, sweet talking me into doing what she wanted.
“Hurry up, my love,” She said, blowing an air kiss at me.
Since I didn’t want her to feel upset any more, I went into the bathroom to get changed.
I wore the first suit, a deep blue color, attending to the buttons. But it was beginning to choke around my neck, making me uncomfortable.
“Do it for her, Argon. You don’t want to upset her,” I said to myself, putting on the final touch.
Once set, I came out of the bathroom to show myself to Estelle, only to find Brielle with her, arranging the clothes she had stayed up all night washing.
“You will still straighten them out later. I don’t like my clothes being folded like rough paper, ” She said, tossing one of her dresses on Brielle’s head.
And Brielle just took, being obedient to Estelle’s every order.
“Why did she have to be here?” I groaned, getting uncomfortable with Brielle’s presence.
Now I couldn’t tell if it’l was because of her or the suit that was making me feel uneasy. I kept attending to the buttons, opening the upper two to get myself.
When Estelle saw me, she shrieked out in delight, rushing up to my point.
“You look so hot! ” She commented, throwing more kisses at me.
I smiled at her, feeling glad that she was happy with the result. But still, it was choking.
“I told you it’s good. You look so handsome.”
“Thank you, ” I appreciated, opening the third button with my eyes falling on Brielle, who was standing near the bed, watching us.
She just took a glance at my suit and had an odd face expression. Almost like she wasn’t pleased to see me in such.
What’s her business anyway?
“No, no, no. Don’t unbutton it. Why are you doing that anyway?” Estelle asked, stopping me from opening the next button of the suit.
She began closing it up, telling me how good it would look on me during the ceremony.
“You were acting like the suit was terrible when it actually looks good on you. Just look at yourself in the mirror. So charming,” Estelle praised, giggling.
I was busy taking her words and praying to get out of the suit quickly, when suddenly…
“Sorry, ” Brielle uttered, getting Estelle and I to look at her.
She dropped her eyes on the suit and asked, pointing at it, “Whose design is that?”
“And how is that your business?” Estelle questioned, lifting her brow at Brielle.
“I’m just asking because it looks like a Zimbi’s Fashion, ” She pointed out.
I was surprised to hear her identify the suit correctly.
How did she know?
“Oh waw! Good for you on that, Miss Know it all. So what if it’s a Zimbi’s Fashion? Does it bother you?” Estelle asked in a mocking tone.
That’s when Brielle responded, ” It does, a bit. But not as much as it does for him.”
She pointed directly at me, causing my heart to skip.
Estelle looked at me then back at Brielle, demanding to know what she meant by that.
I also wanted to know why she would say such.
“What are you trying to say? You mean to tell me that my Alpha has an issue with my gift? Are you insulting my taste?”
“I didn’t say he has an issue with your gift, Luna. He only has an issue with the suit. Alpha Argon doesn’t wear suits from Zimbi’s Fashion,” Brielle said confidently.
Amazement overwhelmed me at what Brielle said. I gazed at her, unable to speak.
“Oh, so you now know what he likes and don’t like? Are you saying I don’t know anything?” Estelle sparked, getting angry with Brielle’s observation.
She didn’t like it one bit.
Yet, Brielle didn’t stop. She went on talking about the suit.
“I didn’t mean to offend you with my words. In the years I’ve spent as his Luna, I’ve gotten to note somethings you don’t know yer. So, as his Luna and soon to be wife, you need to know this things.”
“Awwn, Ex-Luna wants to educate me. How sad, ” Estelle laughed.
“Who told you I don’t know?!” She raised her voice, trying to show her superiority over Brielle.
This was beginning to get out of hand. I tried to calm Estelle down, but she wouldn’t budge.
“No, Argon. Let me attend to Miss Ex-Luna who thinks she knows better than me, ” She said, stepping away from my point to confront Brielle.
Crossing her arms, Estelle said, ” In case you have forgotten, Argon and I have known each other even before you came into our lives. I know all that he likes and don’t like. So don’t teach me things I already know.”
“That’s good, but you still have a lot to learn, ” Brielle said, showing no fear towards Estelle.
This behavior of hers provoked Estelle even more.
“You can yell at me all you want, but it’s important that you note this things. Alpha Argon don’t wear suits from Zimbi’s fashion.”
“Here we go again.” Estella rolled her eyes.
“The reason is because the material used in making the suit doesn’t adjust to his body figure and causes discomfort. He starts sweating, which isn’t good, ” Brielle revealed, stunning me even more.
“He wears suits from Chandler’s Moon fashion house, especially the ones purchased down from the east part of Hidden Wolf Pack, ” Brielle added, revealing more things to Estelle.
But Estelle didn’t care. She was just angry with the fact that Brielle was challenging her.
She suddenly interrupted Brielle halfway, calling her a liar.
“Can’t you see you’re a filthy liar? If that was true, why isn’t Argon sweat…” Estelle’s words came to a pause when she dropped her eyes on me.
She was stunned.
“Argon, you’re sweating?” She gazed in shock.
From my head to chest, I was sweating like hell. The suit itself was getting tighter around my body, making me more uncomfortable.
Feeling it shrieking, I immediately released my wolf strength, causing the suit to rip apart by itself.
Estelle was stunned to see this.
Her gift came ripping into pieces.
“Argon, you…”
“She’s right, ” I said, referring to all that Brielle had said while pulling the ruined suit off my chest.
“I don’t wear suits from Zimbi’s but Chandler’s,” I revealed, backing Brielle’s words.
Estelle couldn’t believe this. She just stood there frozen, staring at her gift that was ruined into pieces.
“The suits from Chandler’s are flexible. It was built to adjust to any body figure, be it muscular or the opposite,” Brielle finalized, dropping her eyes on me.
I noticed how her face flushed at the sight of my sweaty body. She almost lost her focus but got herself.
” I’m sorry for interfering in your personal matter, Luna. But it was important to tell you this when I saw him struggling to adjust. As a model who tries out different fashion wears, I thought it would be best if you took note of this. Sorry,” She apologized, bowing her head at us before resuming with her arrangement.
I was overly impressed by Brielle’s observation. As far as I remember, I never told her anything about my wears or where I get them from.
How did she know all these?
After listening to Brielle, Estelle looked at me with a swollen face, trying to subdue the anger rising in her.
She was just corrected by someone she hates and couldn’t stand it.
Struggling to hold it, she said, “Okay then. Chandler’s it is. I will get you your favorite Chandler’s since someone is too big to share this with his own Luna.”
When I heard that, I realized she was mad at me.
In anger, Estelle stormed out of the room, tossing the second suit to the floor.
“Estelle!” I called, planning on going after her, but I stopped when I saw Brielle handing my shirt back to me.
“You should put this on, ” She said, looking away.
I hummed, taking the shirt while staring at her. She moved closer to the bed to resume with her work, stealing glances at me.
I wouldn’t lie. She amazed me with her Intelligence.
This is something I’ve always kept to myself and my Beta. Even my late father and the servants don’t know about my taste in suits.
But who told Brielle?
