Dr. Rodriguez was about to say something, but after hearing Coleman’s words, he knew there was no point.
As Dr. Rodriguez left, an elderly man, slightly younger than the others, entered the room. Bowing slightly before Coleman, he reported, “Master, I investigated that man. His name is Kayden! He was brought back by Christopher Adams three years ago. He was an idiot at that time, but instead of abandoning him, Christopher Adams even married him off to his favorite, most beautiful granddaughter, Georgia! They were the laughing stock of Hiphia.”
Erika Vincent, who was giving Coleman a shoulder massage, couldn’t help but gape at the revelation.
Coleman frowned slightly and asked, “Did you find out anything about his background three years ago?”
The butler replied, “I hired some top-notch hackers, but they couldn’t dig up anything on him. It’s like the guy never existed. Not just three years ago, his whole history is classified!”
“Classified?” Coleman’s eyes narrowed as he began to ponder.
After a long pause, his eyes widened as if he had discovered something groundbreaking, and he murmured, “Could it be him?!”
The butler added, “Master, though we couldn’t identify him, someone with a classified background is definitely someone highly protected by Seclela. Such individuals usually hold positions of the highest authority.”
“Alright!” Coleman waved his hand, dismissing the butler. “You may leave.”
As the butler exited, Erika quickly questioned, “Grandpa, who is he?”
After taking the two pills Kayden gave him, Coleman had recovered from his long-standing injuries. For thirty years, he had been tormented by these ailments, believing he would die from them. But just when he was about to meet his end, he was miraculously healed. The man who saved him was not only his lifesaver but also a saint who rescued him from endless suffering.
The Rebirth Pill was not something modern people could produce. Before hiring Dr. Rodriguez, he had met an old sorcerer who mentioned that only the Rebirth Pill could save him. However, the Rebirth Pill was a rare commodity in this world, something money couldn’t buy. Only a few hermits possessed it, making recovery seem nearly impossible.
Just when he had given up all hope, fate brought him to someone with the Rebirth Pill.
“If I’m not mistaken, he must be the one who disappeared three years ago!” Coleman murmured.
Yes, only that person could fit such a mysterious identity.
“Who is he, Grandpa?” Erika pressed on.
Coleman suddenly sat up straight, his expression serious. “A national treasure! The War God! A commander of an entire region!”
Erika was stunned. Could those lofty titles really describe that seemingly arrogant guy?
A national treasure was a title reserved for only the most revered individuals. And a War God? Historically, only a few people had earned that title. Besides, this was an era of peace-where would a War God come from?
“Grandpa, are you sure? In this day and age, is there even a War God?”
“You know nothing!” Coleman suddenly barked, then spoke with deep reverence. “Every day, enemy forces eye covetously our lands, knowing they nurtured Seclela’s 5, 000-year-old soul. We are a nation with a soul; how would our enemies give up exploring us? They know Seclela holds countless treasures. Thus, border conflicts have never ceased, with brave warriors using their blood and flesh to shield us from threats.”
“Seclela only shows its prosperity, not the harsh realities. In that reality, god-like figures exist. There’s a great man who rose from the southern border; they call him the Defender of the South! I only know he became famous at a young age, killing countless enemies. Just hearing his name makes foreign troops halt in their tracks! With him guarding Seclela, no one dares to invade our borders. To the border warriors, he’s a god.”
“But three years ago, the allied forces of ten countries broke through Seclela’s border. He fought commanders of ten countries for three days, decapitating all of them. After that, he disappeared! But his broken sword was left at the border, and it’s that sword that keeps our enemies at bay.”
Erika’s eyes widened in amazement. “Is he really that powerful?”
“Of course!” Coleman said sternly. “Some say he’s dead, others say he’s just resting, recovering from his wounds.”
“Those who say he’s resting are from the Seclela border, trying to maintain morale and deter foreign armies.”
“Those who say he’s dead are naturally our enemies, trying to stir up trouble.”
“So… is he dead?” Erika, engrossed in the story, asked confusedly.
Coleman laughed, “Didn’t I just say he saved me? If he were dead, how could he save me? I believe three years ago, the Adams family rescued him.”
Erika suddenly realized, “So, Christopher Adams knew who he was and that’s why he had his granddaughter marry him?”
Coleman nodded thoughtfully, “Yes! That cunning Christopher Adams must have known who he was. That’s why he married his most beautiful granddaughter to him. What seemed like a laughable decision actually secured the Adams family’s status.”
The next morning, Kayden, as usual, made breakfast for Georgia. For the past two days, Scarlett Wood and Harvey Adams hadn’t been home, claiming they were attending a distant relative’s wedding.
During breakfast, Georgia received a call from Jamie.
“Hey, Georgia! Grandma says you don’t need to come to the office anymore. I’ll be taking over all company matters now. That contract you signed with the Atkinson family? I’ll handle it from here. You can just stay home and relax!”
Hearing this, Georgia angrily hung up the phone and fumed, “Why? What right do they have to treat me like this? I was the one who secured that contract. Why does Jamie get to take over?
