You’re too good to me, I tell him as I let my head fall forward again from the pressure leaving my body as I relax into his hands. He chuckles lightly behind me as he places a soft kiss to the back of neck, leaving goosebumps to rise on my arms.
Well, I think you’re too good for me, he tells me, sliding his hands up to rub my shoulders and neck. When one of his fingers brushes against the mark he put on my neck last night, my eyes darken and my knees buckle and he rushes to grab me from around the waist so I don’t fall to the ground. you’ll get used to that feeling. It’s just pretty sensitive right now.
I nod my head, recovering my legs from the marvelous rush of tingles. Sorry, that’s embarrassing.
No, don’t apologize. A lot has changed within the past night and you’re probably feeling a lot of sensations that you never have before, I totally get it, he tells me as he picks up the shampoo bottle to start washing my hair with it along with his own. I’ve noticed throughout the few times we’ve showered together that he likes to wash me himself instead of me doing it and I assumed it was some sort of dominant thing, not that I have any problem with it.
He pulls my head to be under the flow of water as I close my eyes as he massages his hand throughout my hair to help get the soap out of it. We continue showering as I basically just stand there the whole time as he does all the work until we get out with towels wrapped around our waists. I knew we were planning to go to the pack house when he grabs his bag to pull clothes out for the both of us.
He hands me some light blue skinny jeans that I roll up with a dark blue button-up shirt to match with my dark blue Vans. I make sure to put on my jacket because he’ll freak out if I walk out in the cold without it. Joey puts on some dark blue skinny jeans that hug his legs perfectly with a black long-sleeved shirt that was a bit too big along with some white Converse.
Ready ? He asks as he rubs his hair with the towel so it’s not dripping wet in the car because in this weather, it might freeze. I nod my head, grabbing my bag and keys before walking out the apartment door with him. I notice the way he puts his arm around my waist when we get down all the stairs and some man smoking a cigarette by a car stares at me and he picks up his speed.
When we get into the car, he locks it and I turn to look at the man who’s still staring at me. Do you know him ?
I don’t think so, but for some reason he looks familiar to me, he says as I back out of the parking space to get out of there the fastest that I can because I was starting to get creeped out by that guy’s stare. I circle around the parking lot and realize that we’ll have to pass him no matter which way I go. When I see the dark green car that the guy was standing in front of with his cigarette, I almost scream when he jumps out into the path of where I’m driving.
Joey acts fast, grabbing the wheel to swerve around the man who now has red eyes glowing at me and my boyfriend. When we get around the guy, I look in the rearview mirror to see the guy running to us and I realize that he’s definitely a rogue by the way his eyes glow red and how fast he’s running to where he’s almost able to reach out to touch my car.
Okay, don’t freak out, just keep driving as fast as you can, Joey tells me as he turns around to stare at the man and I have to yell at my internal self to not panic because this was a point that I literally couldn’t.
I turn as fast as I can through the parking lot and have to swerve around a car that’s backing out, resulting in them honking their horn at me as the man behind us continues to trail behind to where he’s still just an arms length away from my car. I notice a stop sign in my path and start debating with myself whether I risk our lives with the cars driving on the road I was trying to turn on or with the man that was behind us.
Fuck the stop sign, just go, Joey instructs me and I see a break in the flow of traffic and make my move to get in as fast as I can, knowing that this dude wasn’t actually going to follow us when we’re on a two-lane road unless he wanted to actually get hit by somebody.
When I get in the lane and hit the 60 miles per hour speed limit, I look in the rearview mirror and don’t see any sign of him until I notice my boyfriend staring at the tree line that’s next to the road where I see a wolf running with it’s four legs aligned with my car. That’s when I realize that this dude was going to do anything to get to us and I press my foot down harder to get to 70, hoping there are no cops around us.
Joey, I’m scared, I tell him and he immediately reaches out to place his hand on my thigh as he takes his eyes off the wolf form for a second before turning back to it to watch if he was going to try anything that could get all of us killed.
You’re doing amazing, baby, we’re only five minutes away from the pack house, he tells me, squeezing my thigh as I start to swerve between the two lanes past any slow drivers. The light gray wolf still runs through the tree line as his eyes glow red and when I see a stoplight ahead, I realize that we might be able to lose him because is he really going to cross a road ?
The light turns yellow just as I’m approaching it and I press the pedal to the floor to make it through and make it by half of a second as it turns red. I look back to the wolf who slows down a bit before running across the street and it gives me an advantage as I hit 75 two streets away from the pack camp. I’m grateful for Joey keeping his hand on my thigh as the sparks he emits helps ground me during this stressful situation.
You’re doing so good, beautiful, just keep going, he tells me as he types something on his phone before putting it up to his ear as it rings. I make a wide turn, about two inches from hitting a mini van, but I’m able to recover when Joey’s hand squeezes my thigh. I hear someone say ‘hello’ on the other line on his phone before he starts to tell whoever it is what’s going on. What he says next, shocks me. When you see the gray wolf with red eyes, shoot it.
Joey, no ! I tell him, taking my eyes off the one lane road for a split second before focusing back on my driving. My mate looks up at me with a confused look before turning to look at the rogue, who’s now lined up with my car as he runs next to it.
Kade, this is a rogue, if they’re coming after us this bad, then them and their pack will do anything to hurt us, this is what we have to do for our safety, he tells me before repeating the action to whoever’s on the other line of the phone.
I hit the dirt road that leads to the gate where the guards stood to authorize anyone who goes through and I look at Joey, silently asking what I should do because I was too scared to even say anything because I was basically about to see someone die right in front of me.
Okay, when I tell you, you need to slam on the breaks as safely as you can, Joey tells me as I keep my foot on the gas pedal as the wolf starts to inch his way closer to my car.
I start to see the gate come up on my left as the wolf is on my right, only about five feet away from the car now. As the gate gets closer, I can see the guards standing there with their guns raised in front of them and I realize that there actually is a plan and I’m not just driving into an impulse fight. I hear the guy on the phone yell something before Joey turns to me.
Kade, now, he tells me the calmest he can even though I can still hear the nervousness in his own voice. I move my foot to the brake as I push against it, jerking both Joey and I forward. I watch the wolf run past the car as they don’t expect me to start to slow down and it looks back at us as the car starts to slow down until it almost comes to a full stop.
At that moment, it’s like everything goes in slow motion. I hear multiple gunshots come from the guards as Joey’s hand starts to come up to my eyes, probably not wanting me to see what was about to happen. The cry from a wolf reaches my ears as my eyes are covered and I can just imagine seeing the gray wolf fall to the dirty ground as it starts to bleed out.
Life speeds up again and I hear yelling along with another gunshot as Joey’s hand continues to cover me from seeing the scene play out. I can feel tears well up in my eyes, but I don’t let them fall as I continue to hear the wolf crying from outside the car. Joey’s hand moves slightly to still block the wolf but to show me the gate that was now slowly opening.
Go through the gate for me, please, he whispers in a soft voice and I start to move the car through the opening as two guards still stand to each side of it. When I turn all the way through the gate, Joey moves his hand away to turn the rearview mirror so I’m unable to look through it to see the possibly now dead wolf behind us.
