“Shem!” all the men yelled, including Ami who had been standing at one side all the while. They all began to laugh because, even though what he said seemed rude, it was funny coming from Shem.
Mufasa shook his head and began to walk towards one of his shelves again.
“Knights, fire just runs in your blood, doesn’t it? Hot blooded creatures,” he complained.
“What’s happening here?” Olive asked with confusion written all over her face. She was darting her eyes over everyone in the hall, excluding Wayne who was sitting a bit far from the rest.
“This is happening,” Jericho answered and pointed at the ice which was in the shape of the water pot.
“What… is… that?” Dolly asked as she peered her eyes at it and took slow steps towards it. Terry looked at her and smiled to himself. Then he looked at Olive like she was some goddess for being able to bring Dolly out from her room. He had tried for hours and failed hands down.
“Some new creation by our Alpha here,” Mufasa answered as he was scribbling away in his large brown book. Olive thought it was some form of journal or experiment book.
Next, she immediately scanned the room and found her mate sitting idly on a chair by a table and staring at them like he was feeling sleepy. When they eyes however met, his lit up and they began to say ‘come to daddy’. She pursed her lips at the way he looked at her and ignored him.
“So, what you guys are saying is Wayne created this… ice thingy?” she asked as she squatted down to look at the big block of ice that seemed like a work of art. It was waist length in height and half a metre wide. Yes, it was a huge water pot that Mufasa had kept by the wall. There were some designs in the ice which was formed because they were on the inside of the pot. It simply took the form of the pot as if it was a baked cake in a fancy cake pan.
“I thought he could only bring the temperature to zero degrees and not actually freeze something or even play with ice. What are you, Wayne? Elsa?” Olive inquired honestly as she stared at the ice which also appeared really thick to her.
She was wowed that her mate could create something like this. But, Olive had no idea the situation on ground. What Shem had blurted out earlier already escaped her mind so she didn’t know this was a different case on ground.
“Uhm, Olive. This is… this is weird,” Dolly stuttered behind her. Olive looked up at her and then stood straight.
“What is weird?”
“Wayne doesn’t… freeze things up like this. It used to be just a thin layer of ice if he is extremely displeased or in his killer mode. But this, this one is a first,” Dolly explained and Olive’s eyes widened. She looked at the men with her jaw dropped and that was when she noticed they were all sweating profusely and holding axes in their hands.
“How? How did this happen? Don’t tell me this is a new power?” she questioned and Mufasa nodded.
“Apparently, as you and Knight here were leaving earlier, you passed by this water pot which was close to the door there. By that wall,” Mufasa stated and pointed towards the direction of the wall.
“He unknowingly turned the whole water in the pot to ice. And this unique ice has proven to be very unique indeed. It cannot be melted.”
If Olive’s eyes were widened before, then they became even more widened at Mufasa’s last statement.
“What? It’s not… it’s not melting?” she stuttered and looked at the block of ice again.
“And it’s not breaking,” Jake added and Olive and Dolly looked at them in surprise.
“Why? How?” was all Olive could just say as she walked round the ice.
“That was why Shem said you should be careful around Wayne. You know, we don’t know when he would freeze something and even whom. You could be unlucky and get frozen. And would have to live that way because we can’t unfreeze you. That’s if he doesn’t freeze your head and you don’t die,” Jake stated in a sarcastic and joking tone.
The men laughed amongst themselves and Olive could see Ami just smiling.
“This is serious,” Dolly muttered and glanced to her brother who was still looking calm and wordless ever since they stepped inside. He however, had his eyes glued on Olive from the time they entered.
“What if… this is not ice only but has an element in it with a very high melting point?” Dolly asked.
“Like an ionic crystal? Maybe this is a form of crystal?” Ami asked and everyone glanced at her.
“No. Nope! This is ice. Pure ice!” Mufasa chirped and began to walk towards it again.
“It’s a special type of ice like we all agreed on earlier. Excluding the both of you, of course. Because you just arrived,” Mufasa mumbled at Olive and Dolly.
“Knight created this and only one person can undo what he has created,” he spoke in a serious tone. Everyone stood still to listen to who could do that. Even Wayne sat up in his chair and gazed at Mufasa intently. He had an idea whom, but he wasn’t sure and couldn’t rush to conclusions without listening to Mufasa first.
Slowly, the old man turned his head to look at Olive and all the eyes in the room followed his gaze. They all began to stare at Olive with him.
“What? Me?” she asked, completely taken aback.
“Yes, Olive. You,” Mufasa whispered and she blinked her eyes repeatedly.
“Haven’t you all noticed that Knight is different now? His temper and hot-headed nature is retreating a little ever since his mate swang into his life. She is the key to repair his damages. So, I think and I’m very sure of that thought that she can undo any bad thing he has done.”
“Maybe I can help calm down his raging temper but thawing an eternal looking block of ice? Nope. I certainly cannot do that. How would I even do that?” Olive retorted.
“Fire… and ice,” Ami mumbled involuntarily. Her eyes widened when she realized what she said.
“I’m sorry. I was just… I was just thinking,” she quickly apologized.
“That makes sense, though. If Wayne has ice, then Olive probably has fire that could melt his ice,” Dolly laid out.
“Fire? Hahaha. Fire. Oh come on people! I’m a werewolf not a dragon or fire bender,” she counteracted.
“Wayne is a werewolf too, Olive,” Shem said and Olive rolled her eyes at him.
“A werewolf born with dark powers. I’m just a normal, decent werewolf okay?” she replied.
“I doubt Olive has fire. She seems pretty normal to me. And the prophecy didn’t say Wayne’s mate would have new powers too, right? Or did it?” Jericho questioned rhetorically.
“She literally healed Mufasa’s arm like she was wiping chalk off a board. Is that an old power she suddenly decided to borrow from her grandma, you blockhead?” Shem argued.
Jericho shrugged.
“Forgive me, Shem. Sometimes I forget not to reason things when I spend too much time with you. You know your dumbness is contagious,” Jericho shot back. Laughter erupted in the hall and Shem threw his sweaty t-shirt at Jericho’s face.
“What should we do now?” asked Dolly.
“We would wait. And I’ll have to be doing a lot of experiment on Alpha Knight too.”
“Give him a dose of that your compressor. Don’t wanna be seen walking around with ice on my body because Wayne is the new Antarctica,” Shem joked and they laughed again.
Olive looked over at Wayne and almost flinched to see that he was staring at her intently.
