What Olive Is To Wayne

Mufasa got on his feet and began to walk towards the fireplace which was ten feet away. He put his hand in the pocket of his robe and withdrew it with his fist clenched.
“It was seen long back at the time of his birth that he would be mated to a powerful woman who would unlock his greatest potentials and make him utterly invincible,” he stated and threw his hand towards the fire. Seed-like objects were strewn into it and it blazed up more, as if the seeds were fuel.
Olive gaped at what Mufasa had said. She looked at Wayne and he looked totally bored. He had heard that countless times since it was first prophecied at his birth. So, he was pretty much accustomed to it. But she… she was hearing this for the very first time. Mated to a powerful woman? Unlock his greatest potentials and make him invincible? Heck! How could that be her?
“No one knows what would happen if Wayne becomes invincible or even what sort of strength he would wield. But we all know that he would be very powerful. Therefore, we waited for him to grow. He was a normal teenager except for being unusually strong and brawny. But when he clocked twenty, he became what he is,” the old man continued as he strolled back to the table.
“Before then, we had fears that he wouldn’t be able to control his destined powers and it would even be worse if he finally found his fated one. So, I and the rest of the pack healers tried to tell him some things and teach him about his future and how to control it.”
He glanced at Olive and then at Wayne.
“But this stubborn Knight took all our words as a joke. He said he didn’t want to meet his mate and wasn’t interested in whatever potentials we were talking about. You know, this man here has a special way of portraying stupidity. He shows it in a dignified way. Dignified stupidity.”
Olive almost began to laugh but as she glanced at Wayne, she swallowed it. He was frowning dangerously at the old man.
“Anyway, Olive. You already know that your mate is not everyone’s favorite. He has enemies who mostly hate him for his power, authority and his ways of wrecking havoc. Now imagine what they would do if they find out that he would still be stronger than this? And that the key to his strength is one fragile, pretty woman whose life can be easily thwarted?”
Olive gulped as Mufasa’s old, blue eyes stared down at her. She felt Wayne’s fingers slide into hers and she looked at him.
“Olive is not… fragile,” he grunted.
“Compared to you, she is,” Mufasa replied and sat down.
“Well, Olive now you know what you are to Knight. And the second thing we need to know is what exactly the position that Green Witch was talking about. It’s obvious she had used Lord Lina’s connection with Wayne to manipulate him for a little while. She should be really weak as we speak because your mate is not one to easily control. She must have thought she could kill you and stop him from reaching this certain position. I wonder what it is,” the old man continued.
“You said the vision she saw would help,” Wayne spoke. The old man nodded.
“Before then, can I know what exactly Wayne’s powers are? This Big Bad Alpha thingy, I feel there’s more to it than the outside world knows,” Olive stated while staring at Wayne.
“Oh, that one is between you and him. He should tell you everything. Bug him to tell you everything,” Mufasa replied. Wayne again shot him a deathly glare. But as always, he didn’t seem to care that he was being glared at.
“About her vision, how is it going to help? Would the things in it explain what we’re up for?” it was Jake who spoke up this time after a long silence from him and the others in the room. It was like they weren’t even there.
“It depends on what she saw. Olive, dear. Do you mind telling us everything you saw?”
Olive nodded and narrated everything, not even leaving out the part of Lois’s boss because she didn’t want to make them lose anything that could actually be relevant.
“Walter Lance?” Dolly asked with bulging eyes. Everyone turned to stare at her.
“Walter Lance is… is half werewolf?” she asked again looking disbelieved.
“Do you know him?” Jake questioned.
“I… yes. Well, no. Not in person. But, he’s a very popular human celebrity,” she stated and rubbed the back of her neck.
“Wait… that one you sometimes sneak out of the pack to-” Shem shut his mouth when he saw the daggers coming out of her eyes. They slowly looked at their elder brother only to see him looking calm.
“Did you know?” Shem asked.
“I knew she was secretly leaving the pack to watch or join in some human activities against my wish. But is this Walter guy involved in anything that she does?”
“I used to watch his matches. He’s my favorite player you see,” Dolly answered shyly. Wayne had always been against the idea of her wanting to mingle with the humans. According to him, she was inexperienced when it came to them and couldn’t handle their scrutiny.
“Just like Lois. I hope you’re not also having a secret crush on him?” Olive asked. Dolly’s eyes widened.
“What? Of course not,” she disagreed and then she laughed.
“Come on, I just watched him play. That’s all,” she added and Olive nodded. It was a relief that Dolly had nothing for Walter Lance. Because somehow, she wanted Walter to fall for Lois. She felt like Lois deserved him.
“What are we going to do now, Mufasa? I do have a feeling that we have a lot of things to work out and we’re going up against something bigger than we imagine. Plus, it seems we really don’t have time to waste,” Olive spoke up again and glanced worriedly at Wayne.
He rubbed his temple and sighed. He too was having the same feeling. He felt anxious and scared. Also, he had always known the prophecy was true but he had deliberately turned a blind eye to it. He felt there was nothing else he needed. But after he found out he could levitate, he realized that the power referred to in the prophecy was a big one. He hadn’t even mated fully yet and he was already exhibiting it? Wayne was scared. With greater power came greater responsibility and greater enemies. He was scared for his Olive.
“We will invite the half werewolf here. Or would you prefer to keep him away from the pack instead?” Mufasa asked Wayne.
“I am not bringing him into my pack territory. He might be dangerous and we don’t know what or how he is supposed to help us yet. Plus, we have to also talk to that girl,” Wayne answered with a deep frown.
“So you’re saying?” Terry asked.
“We will go to Seattle,” Wayne answered.
“By that you mean you and who?” Jake asked even though he already knew Wayne’s mind.
“You and the guys are going with me as usual,” he answered and everyone stared at him like he spoke a foreign language. Then suddenly, someone laughed sarcastically. They all turned to look at Olive.
“You know I’m coming with you, right?” she asked with a threatening smile as she stared at her mate.
“The human world is-”
“You forget I was one of the best agents at The Vrek Cult. Well, I don’t blame you. You never saw me in real action and ever since I arrived here, I’ve been nothing but a cute princess. But believe me, Wayne, there’s an opposite side to me,” she stated with dark eyes. Her aura changed and everyone felt it. Only Dolly gaped at her. She had just heard it for the first time that Olive was a part of the cult.
