The meeting went smoothly, just as Rorey had expected. Shareholders on her side recommended her as the chairman of the Group. Shareholders on the other side recommended Rosiley for the position.
Therefore, the two sides got into an argument. Neither side was willing to compromise, and the atmosphere had become very awkward.
It was time for Rorey to act.
She stood up, looking quite confident, as if she had everything under control.
“Though I’m not my father’s biological daughter, he’s treated me as if I was. And, I also see him as my real father. This time, he has been struck by illness, and I have the responsibility to carry Group forward for my dad.”
She was faking it!
Rosiley snorted and looked at Rorey with eyes full of mockery.
How could someone say things so fake but still look so… innocent?
Those not in the know would definitely think she was that loyal to her father.
“I believe that I could make Group even better than it is now!” said Rorey excitedly.
Just as she finished, Rosiley immediately applauded warmly.
“Nice speech.” Rosiley stood up while she gave a round of applause. She smiled brightly, looking as if she were genuinely praising Rorey.
The atmosphere turned weird at once.
Rorey’s face fell, and she fixed her eyes on Rosiley.
No one else dared to make a sound.
Rosiley put down her hands and pressed them on the table, her smile slowly fading away. She looked icily at everyone. “I know that many of you here helped found the Group with my dad. After all these years, without you, the Group would never have grown into such a big enterprise.”
“So I respect you, and your choices. But, before you make them, I have something very important to announce…”
“Rosiley, what do you want now?” Rorey interrupted her, staring at her alertly.
Rosiley curved her lips and looked mockingly at Rorey. “Rorey, are you scared?”
“Scared?” Rorey snorted. “You think too much. I just don’t want you to waste everyone’s time. Today, we’re here to select a new chairman, not to listen to you making announcements.”
She wanted to take an active part in the meeting, not Rosiley.
Rosiley raised her brow. “If you’re not scared, then let me finish what I have to say first.”
Rorey smiled coldly and said unblushingly, “You can tell us after the meeting. Anyway, you’re my sister. There’s always a share for you in the company.”
As if hearing some joke, Rosiley laughed out loud. Then, she immediately withdrew her smile. Her face tightened, and her cold gaze landed on Rorey. “I said, I don’t have a sister. From the very beginning, the Group has belonged to the family. It has nothing to do with you, Rorey!”
When she finished, Rorey’s face instantly darkened.
“Rosiley, what are you talking about? Why does the Group have nothing to do with me? Group must have something to do with us, if only because my mom has been taking care of Dad and you for years.”
Rorey’s pitch was high, and she sounded a little exasperated.
“What? Do you think someone’s pets can go to heaven because of their owner’s enlightenment?” Rosiley’s curved lips carried a mocking smile. “It’s your mom who tries so hard. What does it have to do with you? You’re just a drag on your mom.”
