Meeting

Book:Dark Knight Published:2024-9-6

Simon POV.
It’s been months since Saint got away, it’s been days since I’ve been planning what to do when I catch her, the way I’m going to kill her, the way I’m going to torture her, and it’s not just her, just wait till I catch AJ.
“Tell me more about AJ,” I ask Lucas, I want and need to know what’s happening.
“We grew up poor,” Lucas says and I chuckle, didn’t we all? None of us grew up with the money, if we did then we wouldn’t have ended up here, we’d be lawyers and doctors, but sadly we grew up the hard way and we had to take the hard way out of this life.
“Other than that man, come on, you said you wanna hear me out,” Lucas says and I nod, waiting for him to keep going.
“Yeah, I’m all ears for your sad story, please keep going, what else did mommy cheat or did daddy die?” I ask him, knowing well how his life started.
“Neither you jerk, my father was a hunter, and that didn’t pay much, we always lived on the move,” Lucas says, I knew that much about him, but how does that connect to AJ.
“And?” I say waiting for him to keep on going, he loves his dramas.
“And you know what happened with me and all, but AJ he grew up the same way as me, he too was the son of a hunters family, we’ve been trained to do their job the whole time,” Lucas explains, which means he’s been through training since the day he was born, he was never given a childhood or a chance to grow up slowly, he too was thrown into this world head first.
“I know your story, Lucas, I know what you’ve been through, but what about AJ? What does this have to do with anything?” I ask him starting to get angry yet again, Lucas had a tough childhood, his father was similar to Saint very religious and didn’t agree with Lucas’s choice in life, even from a young age, he tried to show him the right way, and to avoid all love conflict, he sends him to war. At the age of sixteen Lucas was sent to raid a vampire house, he was captured and tortured and then he made a big run, with no idea how, he only says that he’s a master of running and getting away.
At the age of seventeen, I met Lucas and he’s been with me ever since, we raised through the ranks together until I made boss and he was my right hand, but that story doesn’t include AJ and I still don’t know what he gotta do with any of this.
“AJ is the same age as me, he was raised the same way as me, minus the sexual preferences, and when we were sent out, we were on the same team, we got captured together, but when I got away he wasn’t there with me, and I have no idea how he got away,” Lucas explains.
“And then how did you two meet again? When he started to work for me,” I ask Lucas, I should have asked that when he first started working, not now that it’s too late.
“He told me that he was on the street, he needed work and didn’t care what the work was, he never mentioned the time we spent in the coven or how he got out,” Lucas says.
“And you trusted him?” I ask Lucas.
“I owed him that much for leaving him behind in the coven,” Lucas says looking down at the ground, he’s feeling sorry for what he did, it’s the feeling of guilt that had him giving AJ another chance.
“You did what you thought was right, you paid your debts,” I tell Lucas, I trust him, and I know what he did wasn’t coming from a bad place, he owed AJ that much.
“You’re not mad?” he asks me.
“No, you did what you thought was right,” I say, not being able to be mad at my only friend and brother.
“Thanks, boss, love you too,” Lucas says, he’s the one that’s more talkative when it comes to his love and feelings.
“Now let’s get to the meeting,” I say with a sigh, tonight we got a meeting with the said called Elijah, I’m still to meet the mystery man, I only chatted with him through Thomas and messages, I don’t even know what he looks like.
“Let’s go, you think the vampire boss is hot?” Lucas asks with a chuckle.
“What do you think?” I say playing along with him for a minute.
“All bosses are hot,” Lucas says with a laugh, we turn everything into a joke and then life would go on much easier.
We got into my car and I drove to a restaurant, a public place, a white zone it doesn’t belong to either of us, but it’s a safe place to meet up, we’re gonna have dinner together. I parked the car and got out with Lucas on my side, I walked in head held high, tonight we’re just going to have a small chat, we’re going to negotiate the new work.
“Welcome, can I please have the name of your reservation?” The hostess asks, of course, you don’t walk into a restaurant like this one without reservation.
“Elijah,” I say, vampires don’t have last names or maybe they just don’t care for them, they’ll simply use their first name.
“Party of four, right this way,” the hostess says, so he’s not coming along, we were guided to a private table where we took our seats and waited for our new partner to get here.
I saw them walking toward me, I saw the same eyes, the ones I once thought were innocent, the ones that had me captivated, my traitorous wife walking straight toward me along with AJ the other cheater.
“We’re here as representatives of Elijah, this is his daughter Sophia, and I’m AJ one of his man,” the guy says and I lost it, I went to attack but Lucas held me back telling me to stop.
