Until the end of dinner, Rosiley didn’t mutter a single word.
Even when Corey talked to her, she merely replied in one-word answers, as she seemed nonchalant and uninterested.
Initially, Corey wondered what was wrong with her. It was only after a while that he realized that he had made a mistake.
When he started mocking his big brother by saying that he only needed to eat lipstick, his sister-in-law became silent.
“Is she embarrassed or angry?”
As he spoke, he glanced at her secretly. However, he realized that she seemed calm and emotionless.
“Corey.” Sachin called out to him.
Hearing the call, Corey raised up his eyes to look at him curiously.
His brother stared deep within his soul and spoke with his mouth slightly open. “The old man asks you to go on a blind date the day after tomorrow, at 10:00 am. The location will be ‘Sea Galaxy’. Remember to be on time, or…”
He purposefully didn’t finish his sentence but Corey knew from his deep gaze that the consequence would be severe if he didn’t attend the blind date.
However—
“A blind date doesn’t suit me, they are so boring. Only romantic dating suits me.” Corey directly rejected this arranged blind date.
While Rosiley was silently eating, her brows raised when she heard that Corey was about to go on a blind date. She blamed Sachin’s father for being too old-fashioned for always forcing his sons to go on blind dates. In addition to Sachin, Corey also couldn’t escape from this old-fashioned method.
“Go and talk to the old man yourself. There is no need to speak to me, for I am merely conveying what he said.” Sachin completely withdrew himself from this topic.
However, Corey knew that this was exactly what he meant and was something that he had just decided. His brother merely used the old man to cover up his intentions.
But what for?
It was obviously because he spoke carelessly and angered his sister-in-law.
His big brother was extremely petty about matters concerning his sister-in-law, pettier than anything ever.
If he decided to not go on the blind date, he believed that there would be plenty more of such events to come… He could never escape from his big brother.
With that being the case, he should suffer shorter and go on the blind date. He had plenty of ways of stopping his brother afterward.
While Corey thought of that, his mouth curved up into a smile as he agreed immediately. “All right, I will be on time the day after tomorrow.”
Hearing that he had agreed, Rosiley almost spat her food out. She widened her eyes and stared at him in disbelief.
“Is he mad?! Why would such a free soul be willing to participate in a blind date?!”
Seeing that she couldn’t believe it, Corey raised his brows and smiled meaningfully. “sister-in-law, I am merely sacrificing myself to fulfill someone else’s… pettiness.”
Rosiley frowned as she didn’t understand what he said.
However, Corey didn’t say much further as he focused on devouring his food.
Seeing that, she turned to look at Sachin with a puzzled expression. The latter smiled gently and replied, “There is no need to pay him any mind. We’ll return once we finish our food.”
Rosiley nodded as she forgot about what Corey’s words meant.
The next day, at the insistence of Rosiley, Corey returned to pay a visit to Old Chen.
This time, they didn’t immediately go to Old Chen’s home, but instead walked around the area.
“Old Chen loved chess. He usually comes downstairs after breakfast for games of chess with other elderly people, which will last the entire morning. From that, we can see that he is obsessed with the game.”
That was a piece of information that Corey had obtained from other old people.
Tilting her head sideways, Rosiley asked him, “Do you know how to play chess?”
“Of course,” Corey answered without hesitation.
