Bambi POV.
“Grrr!” I growl out loud, I don’t know what to do anymore, why is every job around the country only a cleaning job or some shady black job that would end me killed in no time.
“This can’t be happening,” I yell again, I’m going crazy, the money I got, the little that’s left, it’s almost over, I sold everything, even the clothes, the short clothes that I never want to wear again.
“I’m talking to myself, I’m going crazy, I’m officially crazy,” I say going officially crazy now, I was on the verge of tears what should I do? I can’t find a job, I can’t keep on spending what little I got left, I won’t go back to my old job, I can’t, and I refuse to do so.
I decided to call my only friend, hoping he might answer me, he’s been calling me often, ever since mom died, he’s been there for me, but I knew I can’t keep on relying on him to be there for me, not when he had his own life to live through.
“Hey, Bambi! You want to come over and have ice cream?” he asks me right away answering my call.
“Ice cream?” I ask him with a chuckle, his mommy won’t allow him to eat many of those.
“Yes, yummy yummy ice cream!” he says through the phone.
“Does your mommy knows?” I ask him, and I could hear his pout through the phone, I’m sure she doesn’t allow him to have much.
“Nu, she doesn’t,” he confess making me laugh, this is just the cuteness I needed in my life.
“Then we can’t have ice cream, what are you up to?” I ask him wanting to have any kind of conversation with someone other than myself and the house walls.
“Not much, I did some work for mommy, annoyed Lillie for the day, and that’s about it,” he says making me chuckle, Lillie is the alpha’s assistant, real assistant while Colin only helps her with the easy stuff and annoys Lillie as much possible.
Lillie is a little too, but she has to hold her regressing and brattiness until the work hours end and she gets to be her at home, I wish I could be me, but I don’t know the real me, I have no idea what I’m really like, who am I even?
“That’s nice Colin, keep up the good job,” I tell him with a chuckle, he made me smile, even when he didn’t mean to, but every time we talk, he always makes me smile.
“You’re still looking for a job?” he asks his whole voice and tone changing, he’s back to his big self, I don’t think I want to talk to big Colin, he’ll ask about things I don’t want to talk about yet.
“Yeah, there’s a couple of good options,” I lied, there were none, I was still looking for one.
“I could talk to Thalia…” he says, I don’t need him to talk to his dom to get me a job, I’m not a charity job.
“No, I’ll find one on my own,” I say not agreeing with him.
“But Bambi,” he says trying to get me to change my mind, but that wasn’t going to happen.
“No, forget it, I gotta go,” I say ending the call, not letting him talk anymore.
I got back to searching for a job, any kind of job, I even went as far as calling and putting my name and number, over a couple of places, maybe I could call some of my old clients, but I’m not a charity job, just like I told Colin, I can do this.
“I’m hungry,” I said out loud, it’s only my voice around here, if I don’t talk then the house would be forever quiet.
I moved to the kitchen, it was hardly a functional one, I don’t know how to cook, most of my meals came from my dates, and mom was too weak to eat hard food, she only had soup.
Around the home, I only drank coffee, but now I’m looking for food, but there’s no bread here, only a couple of canned food, I opened one of the canned soups and heated it up on the stove, eating the thing, it tastes more of metal than of real food, but I drank the whole thing, it’s better than going hungry. I might look like a spoiled child, but I’m not, I was and always would be a human, and being spoiled isn’t something we can afford.
I was getting ready to sleep early, I’m making up for all the night I had been up late, staying with random people that paid me to look pretty. I closed my eyes ready to cry myself to sleep as usual, but soon I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing, it was late for anyone to call me, for any job to be calling me.
“Hello?” I say not even checking the caller ID, why would I?
“Bambi,” a dominant female voice says, who is she? One of my old clients maybe, I think to myself with a yawn.
“Yeah, who’s asking?” I answer her.
“It’s Alpha Thalia Rannulf, Colin’s dom,” she says making my heart skip a couple of beats.
“Something wrong with Colin? Is he safe?” I ask her worried about my friend!
“He’s good, he’s asleep,” she answers me and I could finally breathe.
“Okay, what up alpha?” I ask her, why is she calling me.
“I heard you need a job,” she says making me roll my eyes, Colin must have told her.
“I’m sorry alpha, but I’m not a charity, I’ll find my own job,” I say on the verge of tears why did he do that? I took care of myself and my mother for over six years, I can keep on doing this.
“A charity, you’re too far away from that, but I do need someone in my company,” she says.
“Alpha, I’m not Colin, I know how these things go,” I answer her.
“That’s what I was counting on, I saw how you deal with Colin and Lillie, even in their little space,” she says.
“Okay?” I say not understanding what this got to do with anything.
“I need someone to help in the little department, most of the supernatural, well they scare the littles away, and I could use someone who won’t scare the littles and help us out with the paper job,” she says, the offer wasn’t bad, it wasn’t bad at all, this would be the best job offer I’ll ever get, and I’ll be stupid to say no to.
“I’ll take the job,” I say, knowing this would be a one-time offer.
“Great, I’ll see you tomorrow, bright and early, my office,” she says ending the call.
