Katie POV.
“Let’s go play,” Ethan said dragging me out of the house, his mommy, I mean mistress said he loves animals, and I only had Tiger who was following after us keeping an eye on my new friend.
“How old are you? You’ve been a vampire for too long?” Ethan asks me, we made it outside and we’re running toward I have no idea where actually.
“I’m three hundred years old,” I answered him.
“Oh! You’re as old as me! You were there at the beginning,” he says excitedly and I nod.
“Did you use to work? I worked in the D&L company until mommy adopted me,” he says happily.
“Were you in school? I was there until yesterday,” I confess.
“What? Katie right?” he says and I nod, he knows my name now.
“Mhm,” I say out loud when he stayed silent for longer.
“It took you three hundred years to be adopted? I don’t think you’ll take three hundred years to learn how to be a little,” he says sounding confused and I giggled at him, he’s silly.
“Nu silly, I wasn’t a student there,” I explain to him.
“Then what were you doing there?” he asks me still confused.
“Mommy is a teacher, and I helped her there,” I explain to him and he makes an oh noise understanding what I meant.
“Wait, does this mean you had to go although you weren’t a student,” he says making it sound like it’s the worst thing that might ever happen to anyone.
“It’s not that bad, I have mommy and her friends and my friends there, it was fine,” I assured him, and he shrugged.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to sound mean, I lived most of my life in buildings, and after trying the farm life, I can’t imagine how that would be,” he says sounding sorry for me.
“Well, we’re here for a bit now,” I say and he smiles.
“Come on, let me show you everything!” Ethan says holding my hand and dragging me off with him, I giggled as we kept on running I wasn’t sure where we were going but he decided to show me the animals. He showed me the cows, and he pointed to every one of them telling me their names, he had named each one of them and the one who took care of the cows didn’t really care about his choice of names.
Next, he showed me the horses, and he told me that we could go on horse rides but I was terrified of them, when Ethan found out that I was not too interested in the animals he moved to another side of the town we’re in so we could play.
“We don’t have a park but we have the forest,” he says pulling me toward a forest-like area, it was filled with trees, all of them newly planted, I’m pretty sure they weren’t here three hundred years ago, but the vampires did most of the work to fix the world that the humans have destroyed.
Tiger my lazy cat picked a sunny spot and laid down in it ready to take a nap, while we decided to play hide and seek, Ethan started by closing his eyes and counting and I took off to hide, I guess the game would be better if we had more friends or if Tiger join us, but I wasn’t complaining he’s the only friend that I have made so far and I’m enjoying having him around.
“One… Two… Three…” Ethan counted as I decided it was best to hide behind the tree, there weren’t many options.
“Here I come,” Ethan says and I giggled as he looked around for me, he soon found me and it was my turn to start counting, I closed my eyes and counted, one, two, four, six…
“Ethan,” I yelled looking around at him, I looked behind the trees, I looked under any hole big enough to fit him but I couldn’t find him, I started to get worried about him, where did he go? Was he okay, what am I going to tell his mistress? Sorry, I lost him.
“Tiger! Tiger help me,” I urged my cat to help me find the puppy, but she only gave me one lazy look and went back to lying down, ready to get back to her nap.
“Bad kitty,” I scolded her again and kept on looking for Ethan, but I couldn’t find him, where did he go?
“Ethan,” I call out again not able not to find him, I call him again and when I can’t find him again, tears start to gather in my eyes, I was on the verge of crying, no I was crying, I have lost my friend who I just met and made.
“Hey, don’t cry,” Ethan says seeing the tears go down my face, he jumped down from his hiding place on top of the tree near me.
“Where did you go?” I say sniffling.
“I was hiding, it’s the game Katie,” he says coming toward me, giving me a small hug trying to calm me down.
“I lost you,” I say with more tears going down my face, he hugged me tight and petted my back trying to calm me down.
“It’s okay, we don’t have to play this game anymore, want to play something else?” he asks me, I don’t like losing him.
“Mhm, you stay,” I say more tears going down, Ethan made sure that I calmed down enough before we took off to play another game.
We walked around, we looked under the rocks, and we looked at the clouds, he tried to teach me how to climb the trees like him, but I fell on my ass more times than I’m willing to confess. He laughed at me when I fell again and so I slapped his arm for being mean to me, he’s supposed to be my friend and help me through not to laugh at me and make fun of my failing.
“I’m a little not a monkey Ethan,” I scold him.
“I’m not a monkey either and I could do it,” he says and I raise a brow at him.
“Are you sure?” I tease him.
“And I thought you were the small innocent little,” he says with an eye roll.
“I’m an innocent little, but I used to live in the school, I’m used to bullies,” I answer him sticking my tongue out at him while he rolls his eyes at me.
“The sun is starting to set, let’s go mommy doesn’t like it when I’m out too late,” Ethan says, mommy didn’t say anything about me being late, she let me go and play outside.
“Ethan, where is home?” I asked him, I didn’t know the place around here, I had walked with him here but I didn’t know how to leave.
“Don’t cry,” he says quickly stopping me, “I know the way home, and you’re our neighbours we’ll get you to your mommy,” he says but I wasn’t having fun anymore, I was tired, in desperate need for a change and hungry.
The walk home was very long and it wasn’t fun, the sun was setting very quickly and I hated the dark, by the time we made it to Ethan’s home his mommy, I mean his dom was furious at him, his eyes went wild knowing he was in trouble, he tried to run away but she quickly caught him.
“Ethan! I said to go play, not to take her and not come back, bad puppy,” she says the last word landing two quick smacks to his bottom.
“We were playing,” he tried to defend himself.
“Where were you playing? I asked everyone about you,” she scolded him again, and I felt like we were in deep trouble now.
“Tiger ran off and we chased her,” I say defending my friend.
“Your mommy is going insane with worry, don’t do that to us again, you scared us,” she says in a calmer voice.
“Sorry,” I say with a blush.
“It’s not me who you have to apologise to,” she says and I nod knowing mommy is going to be very worried, at school, she didn’t have to worry about me, and she told me earlier this morning not to leave without telling her, but she said I could go and play.
“Hey mommy,” I say seeing her very angry face, she picked me up and then picked a very whiney Tiger up, I think my cat was hungry.
“I know I told you to play but that doesn’t mean running off where I can’t see you,” mommy says.
“Sorry mommy,” I say as she takes me to our room to clean me up and change my clothes.
“Did you roll in the dirt?” she asked as she took the clothes off me and I giggled, I did something very similar to that.
“Maybe,” I say with a giggle.
“Was that lazy cat even with you? She looks clean,” mommy says deciding that I’m better having a shower to clean me.
“Tiger didn’t play,” I answer her explaining why she’s clean.
“Did you have fun with Ethan?” she asks me next, scrubbing my hair clean and getting a leaf out of my head.
“Mhm, it’s different than being at school,” I say, it wasn’t like being locked in the school the whole time, and only having the small playroom to play in or the backyard park to play in, it felt like the whole world have opened up for us in here.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying your time,” she says with a big smile on her face.
“Mommy, who’s gonna take care of the horses? Do you ride?” I asked her since Ethan mentioned it earlier.
“They’re sending a guy over tomorrow, and yes I do ride, maybe I’ll take you one day,” she promises me, brushing my hair now, and drying it for me, she dressed me in my pj instead of some real clothes, and instead of hard food I got my blood bottle and was sent to bed early, or maybe it wasn’t too early, I wasn’t sure about the time, but Tiger wasn’t sleeping next to me tonight, she slept in mommy’s bed.
