Annabella’s Point of View:
“Oh no! I totally forgot about the birthday party!” I squeaky at the top of my voice, and forgot that I puked earlier.
I quickly ran into my room, and picked up my phone.
There were ten unread messages for Logan, and he was begging me not to forget about the birthday. He also asked if I was ready. As I was going through the messages with a look of horror on my face, a voicemail entered.
Logan’s voicemail: “Hey Annabella, how are you doing? I am so sorry for the numerous messages I sent to you. I got worried when you didn’t reply. I hope you’re faring well. By the way, are you on your way? Did you see the address I sent to your email? My driver is waiting for you at that car park.” {There was a love emoji at the end}
“What in the name of love is this? I am so forgetful?” I yelled once again, and collapsed on my bed, feeling fatigue. My screaming and yelling must have attracted my three sisters, because they ran into my room anxiously.
“Big sis, are you alright?” Megan asked, fear written all over her face, and she ran to my side, along with Mira. While Millen stood by the door, observing everything that was happening.
“Party emergency!” I replied with a hoarse voice, and my three sisters looked more confused. I knew I was breathing too fast to explain what was going on to them, so I handed my phone to Mira. On listening to the voicemail, she stood up at once and ran to my wardrobe.
“Girls, we have to find the perfect outfit for big sister!” Mira announced it to my sisters; and Megan, who had just finished listening to the voicemail with horror in her eyes, gave it to the surprised Millen.
Megan helped me to stand up, before she went and joined Mira in looking for the perfect outfit.
“Humm, so strange. How sure are we that this man is interested in big sister? And why is no one talking about the stranger sister Anna had a one-night stand with? I mean according to the storybook I read, she is supposed to be heavily pregnant by now!” Millen murmured after scanning my phone, looking at my sisters with determination.
She turned to face me, and I knew she wanted me to say something, but I didn’t know how to tell her that I wasn’t interested in Logan, and I was attending the party just for fun.
“Come on Millen, this is real life, and not those old fashioned novels you read. Make yourself useful, and search for the perfect accessories!” Megan replied with a plain voice, her eyes were scrutinizing my wardrobe, and a lot of gowns were already on the floor.
“Fine, fine. But really, how can hundreds of dresses be laying on the floor, yet you haven’t found the perfect one?” Millen asked with furrowed brows as she moved towards my accessory boxes.
“Because we are women, and our outfits must look perfect on us.” Mira replied absentmindedly, her hand roaming over my wigs. Millen scowled at her reply, and continued to look through my accessory boxes.
I sat still on my bed, and an image of Adriel’s jealous face flashed in my head. A small smile settled on my face, and I couldn’t help but wonder why I was smiling.
“Come on big sis, go take a shower. You are already late!” Megan scolded me, and as I stood up, I sluggishly fell back on my bed. This caught Millen’s attention, and she squinted her eyes as she carefully scanned my stomach.
“Something seems off, you’ve never slipped before; also, why would you forget something so important? Big sister, you are exhibiting the behaviors of a pregnant woman?” Millen informed me, her eyes lingering on my body.
“Get over it, Millen. I am not pregnant. Anyone could slip and fall,” I replied angrily, tired of hearing her accusations, and immediately after I said that, Mira slipped and fell, a cute smile on her face.
“Also, as one gets older, it’s normal to be forgetful!” I explained with a grimace on my face, and Millen shrugged her shoulders, but I knew she wasn’t convinced.
“Get to the shower, by the time you are done, your clothes, shoes, and accessories will be ready.” Mira informed me excitedly, and I nodded my head at her before entering the bathroom, with my towel.
I could hear Megan scolding Millen for suspecting me, when she also refused to open up about what happened with Henry, and the two girls began another round of argument.
Mira on seeing what was happening, sang with an annoying loud voice, and the two elderly girls vented their anger on her.
I sat down in the huge bathtub, smiling at my sister’s behavior, but my smile soon faded, and I placed a hand on my tummy.
A worried look was on my face as I thought aloud. Soap was all over my body, and both hot and cold water was running out of the tap.
“There is nothing to be worried about, Annabella. You are just overwhelmed. Reality and storybooks are different, you can’t get pregnant because of one sexual act.” I assured myself, and took a deep breath. A smile appeared on my face, and I stretched out my hands to my little cupboard to pick a shampoo and sponge.
After a relaxing bath, I came out of the bathtub, feeling energized, and I applied different lotions and spray on my body. I looked at my beautiful figure in the mirror and smiled, before covering my body with my shower.
I took an electric toothbrush, and quickly applied toothpaste on it. After brushing, I returned it back to its original spot, admired my white teeth, and later entered my room.
“Ta-da!” Megan exclaimed with a playful voice; a happy grin was on her face, as she showed me my outfit. It was a purple ball gown, and I must admit it looked like that of a royal princess.
Beside her was Mira, holding my heels and a box of my accessories, and Millen sat down beside them, a cup of cake and coffee in her hand. I felt very happy, and I hugged them tightly.
“You guys are the best sisters in the whole world!” I announced with a wide grin on my face, and the smile on my sister’s face was heartwarming. Millen didn’t want to smile, but her lips betrayed her.
Mira and Megan replied cheerfully, and Millen informed me that I had five missed calls from Logan.
I began to hurry up, and I quickly removed my towel and wore my gown.
“Why in the world is she dressing in front of us? Is she trying to seduce us or something?” Millen lamented when my towel fell to the floor, and I giggled at her embarrassment.
Mira and Megan helped me with my makeup, and while they were applying it, Millen kept insisting that I eat her cake.
“Eat it, even if it’s just a little.” Millen suggested, bringing the cake closer to my face.
“Millen, I know this might sound really weird, but I don’t feel like eating cake. I can only drink the coffee.” I informed her, and my three sisters stopped what they were doing to look at my face.
“What do you mean? Cake is your favorite dessert, and you’re willing to do anything for cake ….” Mira looked shocked, but her last sentence was filled with sarcasm.
“I know, right. But, I don’t feel like eating it today, it makes me nauseous. Maybe it’s because I am too excited for the birthday party.” I said with closed eyes, hoping that my excuse would sound normal to them; and luckily for me, they went along with it.
In no time, I was dressed for the party, and I stood in front of my huge mirror, admiring my beauty.
“You really are the beauty goddess, aren’t you?” Mira asked a rhetorical question, smiling at me in awe. I chuckled softly at her words before hugging my sisters.
“It’s all thanks to you guys.” I replied with a happy, but solemn voice, looking at their faces.
“Nope, it wasn’t us. Megan didn’t even apply any important make-up on your face. Sister Anna, you are a natural beauty.” Millen praised me, her eyes roaming over my dress, a little smile on her face.
I don’t know why, but I felt different, maybe because it was Millen who praised me.
“Thank you so much. I love you guys.” I cried out, starting to feel emotional.
“Oh, come on. There’s no time, we have to hurry up!” Millen explained to me with a hurried voice, and my two other sisters nodded in agreement.
Mira held my hands, and as we were about to leave the room, Millen stopped us.
“Here, take this.” She said with a nervous face, stretching her hand to reveal the necklace she made for me when we were little. I was surprised, but there was no time to ask any questions, so I collected it with a bright smile on my face, picked up my hand bag and left the room.
As I came out of my house with my sisters, I took a deep breath and smiled.
“Don’t feel pressured or anything, you are the queen. You are in charge.” Megan advised me wisely.
“Yes, but also, get yourself a boyfriend!” Millen chipped in with her icy voice, and I couldn’t help but chuckle at her words. I hugged them one last time, before entering my Uber ride.
“Let’s get to this birthday party, and greet Logan’s stepmother and siblings.” I murmured under my breath.
