Annabella’s Point of View:
“Her name is Lady Quinn Lupa Zupa, she’s the keeper of Lupa’s fortune, and her net worth can buy our continent.” I whispered to myself as I kept looking at her.
I don’t know why, but I silently wished to be like her. Lady Quinn was the envy of most ladies. She had power, influence, money and fame. Both men and women wanted to be in her good book, and as expected, immediately she entered the room, everyone rushed at her. No one even paid attention to the other members of the family.
Well, if the heir to the family’s wealth was around, everyone would forget that Lady Quinn existed, and they’d rush at him. I was so occupied in my thoughts that I forgot to look at the person that whispered into my ears.
“You must be a huge fan of Lupa’s family,” the stranger said, snapping me out of my thoughts, and I looked at him. He was dressed like a wealthy businessman, and some of his hair was covering his face.
“Do I know you?” I asked in indignation and quickly shifted from his side.
“I highly doubt so. My name is Logan, it’s nice to meet you,” he said, stretching his hand for a shake.
I hesitated for a minute, but later shook his hand. “I’m Annabelle. Nice to meet you too,” I smiled broadly at him, and he returned the smile. I froze, he looked so much like Adriel, and his smile reminded me of my one-night-stand. I quickly took back my hand, and ran away from the room as fast as I could. Logan looked at me in shock, he wanted to follow me, but an older lady who I guessed was his mother held him back.
“The night is still young, Logan, let’s get our search started,” she said to him, and he reluctantly agreed.
As I was leaving the room absentmindedly, I bumped into someone, and on raising my head, I met the fearsome gaze of Lady Quinn Lupa, and I stared at her in shock.
“Can’t you apologize, human?” She asked with a hoarse voice, and I quickly regained my senses.
“I-I am so sorry ma’am.” I apologized and bowed my head. Suddenly the name she called me rang in my head, and I wondered what she meant by ‘human’.
“Humm, pay attention when you walk, and most especially stay away from my children, I won’t want them to catch your clumsy behavior. Let’s go, Lola,” she said and, without waiting for my response, she walked away, a young lady following her from behind.
“Stay away from your children?” I scoffed and hissed quietly. “I don’t even know any of your children, why would I want to get closer to them? Such a rude woman!” I lamented, and frowned my face, looking at her as she left. Then I remembered I had a one-night stand with one of her sons. “If she finds out, my career is over for good,” I reasoned and took a deep breath. Suddenly a cold hand touched my shoulders.
“Bella, where have you been?” Rachel’s voice echoed from beside me and I quickly turned to face her.
“Rachel,” I was surprised and I hugged her tightly. She was more than just my manager, she was a supportive elder sister, and I respect her.
“Were you looking for me?” I replied with a question.
Rachel raised my head, and held my face with her palm. “Not really. Are you alright, my love?” She asked, looking at my wrinkled face.
I nodded my head, “Yes, I am, just tired.”
“In that case, you better start leaving, your sugar daddy chief Fahrenheit will soon arrive,” Rachel informed me, and without waiting to hear anymore, I ran to the VIP section as quickly as I could.
Rachel laughed at me, but unfortunately, I failed to hear her last words. “I’ll be receiving some visitors in the VIP section very soon. The Vamp needs my advice.” Rachel yelled after me.
……
VIP section:
Annabella’s Point of View:
I hurriedly opened the door and entered. Luckily for me, the bouncers didn’t ask me any questions because they recognized my face. The room was crowded with influential people, and different wines were arranged on each table. I ran to the available seat and took a deep breath. Without thinking, I took the glass of wine on the table, and gulped down the contents.
“You must be really thirsty,” I heard the same gentle voice from before and I furrowed my brows in confusion.
“What are you doing here, Logan? Are you stalking me?” I asked, feeling I was being stalked by a grown man.
“Of course not, my mother is one of the sponsors, so I was invited to enjoy the VIP section,” he replied politely, smiling at me.
“Ohh, your mother must be a wealthy woman then,” I whispered, looking at his outfit with a corner eye.
Logan burst into laughter. “Is that a problem? Don’t you like men whose mothers are wealthy?” He asked with raised brows.
“Humm, actually, I don’t think my opinion is needed,” I replied thoughtfully, holding my chin. “But if I must choose, I think I prefer men who work hard for their money, and not mummy’s pet.” I said with a plain voice, and Logan burst into laughter.
“I think I like you already.” He announced in-between his laughter.
“Huh? Like me, what do you mean?” I asked in surprise. Suddenly, I began to feel dizzy, and on looking at the name of the wine which I drank, I realized that it was ninety percent alcoholic.
“I meant that-”
The door was pushed open before Logan could complete his sentence, and Adriel entered, accompanied by three other men. They were dressed in black overalls like hunters, and none of them was smiling. Well, except for one of them. I could swear he was smiling at me.
“Oh my goodness! Does he really have to show up now?” Logan asked a rhetorical question, cursed, and gritted his teeth angrily.
I stood up at once. ‘Indeed, I’m not daydreaming, Adriel Lupa is here.’ My wild mind cried out, and the alcohol took the better part of me. I sluggishly hit my foot on the table, and once again I slipped, falling down.
