Back To The Present:
“Your mother didn’t tell me that you’d arrive today, I actually thought you’d abandoned your family,” Quinn Lupa’s sweet voice echoed in the dining room. The entire family sat around the dining table, dressed for the night party they were about to attend.
“Humm,” Logan hummed softly, and took a bite from the steak in front of him. Ignoring Quinn’s words.
Lora and Lily looked at each other hopefully; the air was getting thicker and the atmosphere was tense. They silently prayed that their mother would not get into another argument with Logan.
Adrien laughed nervously, trying to clear the atmosphere. Just then, Rose walked in, dressed in a ball gown, two maids escorted her, and she had a mischievous smirk on her face.
“Good evening to the ancient Lupa’s family,” she greeted, an evil smile on her face.
“Greetings to you.” Priya Zillen, Michael’s mother, answered, when she realized that no one was willing to respond to Rose’s greeting.
“I was actually greeting the Lupas, not the Zupas,” Rose replied curtly, and flashed Priya an intimidating smile. Without being told, she sat down on an empty chair beside Logan, and told her maids to get her something to eat.
Quinn Lupa sat down at the center of the table, looking at everything unfolding before her eyes. She shook her head sadly.
“The Zupa family are very much welcome to my household, but I doubt the mistress is. Also, Lupa and Zupa are the same, my mother’s ancient blood joins the two families together,” Quinn replied peacefully and flashed the most sincere smile she could think of.
But her words weren’t meant to promote peace, she was indirectly insulting Rose.
But unlike before, Rose was unfazed and burst into menacing laughter.
“Oh dear Quinn, have you forgotten that we both have illegitimate children, huh? Let’s not humiliate each other, instead we should support one another,” Rose said, an evil grin on her face. The maids served her a large portion of the meal, and she turned to her son, Logan, to peck his cheek.
“Humm,” Quinn smiled sweetly, and continued to eat her meal. Her face was burning with anger, but she controlled herself. But Lola wasn’t happy that her mother was insulted, so she hissed loudly.
“Rose, I’m not an illegitimate child. My mother got married to Thomas before his death! Unlike you who sneaked into our family like a wretched rat!” Lola’s voice was filled with anger and bitterness.
“Argh, you never cease to amaze me, Lola. Mummy’s pet, I was wondering when you were going to interfere! I wasn’t the only one who sneaked into this family, you were also pushed into this family. Your mother didn’t divorce your father before she got married to Thomas, so you are also an illegitimate child!” Rose replied with a grimace on her face. Her tone was filled with bitterness, and she looked at Lola pitifully.
“That’s not a nice thing to say, mistress!” Benson Lupa, Quinn’s brother and Michael’s father, said, interfering in the tense staring battle going on between Rose and Lola.
Logan kept quiet, munching his food like he didn’t care, while Lily stared at him, wondering why he wasn’t controlling his mother.
“You-”
“Don’t you dare insult my husband, Rose!” Priya yelled at Rose before she could complete her sentence. And the two women stood up angrily.
“That’s enough! Sit down and eat like a royal lady!” Quinn said, with a hoarse voice, and hit her hand on the table. The two grown-up women who were seated next to her sighed sadly.
Priya made a silent promise of revenge before she sat down. The atmosphere became normal again, and everyone tried to force themselves to eat.
“By the way, Logan, why are you back? Do you need a job, or something?” Roseline, who had been quiet all along asked, suspiciously staring at Logan.
“No, I don’t need a job, I came to assist the vampires, also, to tell Adriel that the rogue vampires aren’t the ones at fault, the shadow hunters are just trying to create war between us!
We should come together and defeat the shadow hunters once and for all. I heard they’ve increased to millions and have organizations all over the world,” Logan explained with a calm voice, but Liam burst into laughter, clapping his hands.
“So nice of you, and we really appreciate your information. But my brother and his best friends are currently out of the country!” Liam said when his laughter finally died down.
“Then someone else needs to be in control of Lupa’s manor while he’s gone,” Rose quickly chipped in, and pinched her quiet son.
“Well, he put me in charge of that,” Lola said, smiling like a villain. “I’m in charge while he’s gone!”
“Why is that so? Logan is Adrien’s second child, he should be in charge. Why are you overshadowing my son again? For your information, we are here to stay permanently, so start giving him back his rights!” Rose announced angrily, and everyone at the table raised their heads in shock, and began to murmur silently.
“How about we all go for a night party, chill, and have fun. When we come back, we’ll discuss more on this topic, and we’ll choose the right leader!” Adrien suggested, trying to clear the tense atmosphere.
“But Adrien-” Lola wanted to protest, but her words were cut shut by Logan’s.
“Let father eat his meal in peace, we’re late for the party already,” Logan said, interrupting her words. He turned to his father, smiling like a good son. Adrien smiled back at him.
“Argh!” Quinn Lupa hit her hands on the table and stood up at once. She glared at Logan for a while and smirked at him mischievously before leaving the dining room. Logan’s sweet smile was replaced by a menacing one, and he looked at his mother, who was smiling triumphantly.
Lola stood up from the table and threw a glass cup on the floor angrily, before she left the dining room. Immediately after Lola left, Priya, Roseline, and another woman stood up. They all looked at Rose angrily before heading to Quinn’s room.
“You will take over, I promise you, son. But first, let’s get you a popular bride. One who can help achieve our goals, we need to attend that party at all costs.” Rose whispered into her son’s ears, and they both had an evil smile on their faces.
Lily and Lora noticed that Liam also stood up, and Lora quickly notified one of her uncles.
“Where are you going, son? You aren’t the type to run after your mother,” Polo, Adrien’s younger brother asked, his eyes switching between red and black as he took a slip from the blood in front of him.
“I’m going to call the only person who can successfully clear this mess, uncle!” Liam replied and quickly left the room, his phone in his hand.
“Must it always end like this? Why can’t we be one big happy family,” Logan murmured thoughtfully and sighed. His eyes were down, as though he was forced to act the way he was acting.
