NALEDI’S POV
Draken left the door open, holding a phone to his ear as he spoke animatedly.
“What do you mean it’s gone?” He growled, limping as he went.
Silence.
I could hear the faint sound of someone talking on the phone.
“I don’t care who took the darned thing, I want you to send everything to your arsenal and ensure that you recover the darned goods! I don’t want excuses, I fucking want results or your head would be breakfast tomorrow!”
I put on a concerned expression as he dropped the phone. “What’s wrong?”
“The fucking nerve of that bastard! He took the fucking shipment! I am going to kill him as soon as I get my hands on him.” He seethed and I followed him inside, not failing to close the door behind me.
“What shipment are you talking about? And who dares to take what belongs to you?” I said, feigning anger. “If you need a job done, I am more than willing to hit the roads right now.”
He didn’t answer, instead, he placed his phone across his ear and spat out orders. “Cancel the sale. I want you to seal off the warehouse and deploy the best of your men to guard the goods. Shit’s hit the fan so you got to be prepared. I’ll send in more men by daybreak.”
I smiled inwardly as I watched him fuss over the phone, firing orders here and there as related to his missing shipment. Ezra had done a perfect job, and boy was I glad. It was only a matter of time before things came together.
Suddenly, three knocks sounded from the door and we both looked towards the direction. I sat on the couch, swearing at myself for not putting on a bra until I heard him call out, “Come in!”
A few guards walked into the room, armed with guns and Ezra followed behind him. Wearing a shit-eating grin on his face. A lax smile made its way to my face when I realised it was done.
“Game over, Draken,” I state, relaxing on the chair behind me.
Draken looked confused, switching looks between us. “What the fuck is going on here?!” He asked, shaking with anger.
Ezra spoke first. “The estate has been overtaken by the Cosa Nostra. This is the end of the road. Your men have been rounded up and killed.”
He shook his head in disbelief. “It can’t be. Guards!” He looked at the men around, “Seize these fools!”
I didn’t blame him though. They were once his men. Loyal to a fault. Unfortunately for him, now they were bought over. You can imagine the levels people were willing to go to get their pound of flesh from an enemy.
Instead of arresting us, I watched the men attack Draken, who tried to resist using his Alpha strength but was weakened by Ezra, whose eyes glowed as he muttered some incoherent words.
By the time he was done neutralizing him, Ezra ordered for him to be taken away and placed in the cells and I watched in glee as he was carried out of his office, unconscious.
“How about Korah?” I asked when I noticed she was nowhere to be fine.
A smile, “My sister is raising hell on the storehouse. There wouldn’t be a speck of goods in about now.”
My eyes widened. The storehouse was directly opposite the prison. The women! Alarmed, I spoke animatedly. “She can’t do that! The prisoners are still there! They would all die with a fire that large!”
My sensory organs kicked off in panic. How could we have forgotten something so crucial? How could I have forgotten them? I got on my feet, charging to the door when he spoke, relieving me of my worry.
“You think I would be stupid to let them remain there?” He corked his brow. “Trust me, there is no way Korah is making such a mistake. She practically ate my ears about taking the women out quickly so that she could finally exact her revenge.”
Ezra looked like he could do without Korah’s incessant complaints, but I could tell he loved every moment of it. He loved her to pieces and all because of my father’s greed, he had to be separated from her.
“They are safely at the front of the estate, we are making plans to return them to their various homes. As soon as we take care of Draken, everything will be in place and we will be ready to leave.”
I nodded and made my way towards the door. Deciding it was time to see them.
****Earlier in the day****
I entered my car, ready to leave the mansion on another one of my errands for Draken. Per usual, I entered the backseat of the black Venzar assigned to take me to places I was supposed to be.
As soon as I was buckled in, the driver started the car, driving us out of the estate. You could imagine my shock when I suddenly saw Ezra sitting in place of the driver.
“Are you trying to kill me?” I said when I survived the shock. I couldn’t lie, it wasn’t easy getting used to the fact I could be deceived as long as I had a witch around.
“Not really.” He suddenly parked the car by the side of the road.
“What’s wrong? Why are you stopping?” I asked, looking backwards for signs of danger.
Ezra turned around with a serious look on his face. “There’s been a change in plans.”
“I found out that Draken’s shipment is coming into town today. They will be hitting docks in about five hours.”
My eyes perked in surprise.
“Draken has secretly ordered for the men to be on hand to receive the goods in Sicily. For some reason, he hasn’t informed me about it, I had to get the information by killing one of the men and pretending to look like him.”
“He suspects us,” I say without as much as a blink. My face turned cold. “If that shipment is getting into Sicily in not less than five hours then we have to inform Caellum.”
Ezra looked at me like I grew a second head.
A cold smile. “Think about it, Draken decided to be crazy and drop his shipment at the enemy’s territory because of fear. He plans to outsmart Caellum by sending his goods right under his nose.” A chuckle, “What that fool didn’t take into consideration was the fact that if Caellum got that shipment, everything would be over.”
“Caellum would be able to replace his shipment, Draken would be forced not to sell his stolen goods at cheaper rates, and we can ruin him from within by burning off his leftover goods.”
Ezra’s eyes twinkled, I could tell he loved the idea.
“This is the best time to strike, Draken is weak and if we can get people on our side, then it’s a won battle. We arrest him, and take over the Yakuza while Caellum goes on to take the stolen shipment hidden in Russia.”
“Draken has a lot of men undercover in Sicily,” Ezra stated his reservations. “If this goes wrong, then we will be fucked.”
“I realise that.” I said in a solemn tone, “However, we must not ignore the fact that this could all end if we succeed.”
A sigh. “I will inform Korah. For now, I just need you to keep the Alpha busy.”
A nod. I could deal with that.
