NALEDI’S POV
I walked out of Draken’s office with a frown on my face.
He was being too nice. From my previous dealings with that man, it only spelt trouble. I needed to be more careful with my little plans.
Ready to get back to the day’s work, I walked down the stairs, only to meet Ezra standing on the floor with an odd look on his face.
The entire estate was busy as everyone went on their daily business without a care in the world. Everything seemed good but I felt a strong feeling of unease.
“We have a problem,” Ezra said once I got to him.
I looked sideways, making sure no one was around before I spoke. “What is the matter?”
He gestured for me to follow him and I did without a moment’s thought. We got to the prison, and he led me right to the office. “Draken pulled the rug last minute.” A frown marred his face, “He has ordered for the shipment he stole to be sold off by tomorrow.”
“How is that a problem?”
“He has decided to sell it at a subsidized rate to other strong mafia packs with the condition that they join him in fighting against the Cosa Nostra. He fucking wants to start a war. He wants to be king and is willing to stop at nothing to achieve that.”
The gravity of the situation weighed on my shoulders and I suddenly couldn’t understand what in the world was wrong with him.
“Then we need to stop him.” I said, sporting a faraway look on my face.
“How the hell are we supposed to do that? It’s not like we can walk into his room and ask him not to sell his fucking goods. The man could do without the proceeds from the shipments, he has a whole shipment coming in.”
“And that’s why he can sacrifice Caellum’s shipment. It’s a win-win for him. He gets to gather allies as well as get paid for something he didn’t invest in. The fucker is a crooked ass.” I finished, more angry than I have been in a long while.
“If he does that, then the entire plan goes to shit.”
“Not if we stop him.” I say, “Think about it, he is only able to sell it off because he has a shipment coming in soon, and he has more than enough dope to run the business until the shipment arrives.”
A smirk. “Imagine if he didn’t have any goods to run his business for the time being?”
“He’ll be forced to keep the Cosa Nostra shipment.”
“Exactly. So the problem we have is the excessive amount of goods in the storehouse at the moment. We need to do something about it, and see if he is still willing to sell off the shipment.”
“What do you suggest we do?”
A wry smile. “Korah happens to be a fire elemental. I reckon her gifts have grown in leaps and bounds since the last time we saw.”
After my little meeting with Ezra, I made my way out for some important meetings where I was introduced as the incoming Donna of the Yakuza. All through the day, my eyes were on my phone, checking the time and wondering how things were going.
On getting back to the estate, I was informed of the Alpha’s need for me in his room. When I got there, I realised that he had prepared a dinner for us both. I couldn’t help the unease that seemed to grow around him.
“Attai, have a seat.” He was seated up on his bed, going through some documents.
I made my way to a cushion right beside him, looking at the array of food placed on a stool standing beside me. “Eat.” He said, motioning to the array.
My eyes narrowed at the food. Was it poisoned? What the hell was he trying to do?
I picked up the fork, looking at him with a small questioning smile. “These days you seem to be more apt concerning my well-being.” I threw at him, baiting him.
“You should get used to having such treatments, for as long as you remain good, you will have a lot of rewards,” he said, flipping over a page. “I think it’s about time I formally introduced you to the world as my Luna.” he suddenly said and I nearly darned choked on the food.
I managed to swallow without doing much harm. to myself. “The wedding is in a week. By now they already heard about it.” A nervous laugh.
“The formal announcement would be done tonight.” He spoke like I didn’t just protest against it. “I already sent words ahead. The people would be ready at nine, I expect you to be dressed in the dress I picked out and ready before the time.”
Was that it? Was this the sort of life I had subscribed to by choosing to be his bride? I nodded, my cheeks hurting from how much I smiled these days. “I’ll be there.”
After my meal, I left for my room to get ready for the sudden event Draken set up without a moment’s thought. I stepped out of the shower and spotted my phone on the bed, blinking light.
Ezra hadn’t reached out to me on the progress of the plan since we spoke and I was getting quite antsy with the lack of communication from him. I couldn’t even text or call him for fear of my phone being monitored by the devil.
I couldn’t afford slip-ups. Not when we were so close to making things work out perfectly. I took a look at the time and it was seven pm. I had a good two hours to kill before I had to attend the event.
I hopped on a sweatpant and T-shirt, deciding to relax a bit before getting dressed in the ugly black gown picked out for me by Draken. It was a decent gown that was ruined by the single fact of being favoured by that devil.
Sleep took over and I didn’t realise the time had gone until I heard the door of my room open and it was Ezra. I never slept without my gun so I nearly darned killed him for such a surprise.
When he told me the time, I nearly shot myself in the head. Draken was going to kill me. There was no stopping him. Forgetting all about the dress, I joined Ezra who briefed me on the state of affairs.
“We are moving in tonight, I need you to keep Draken busy while we handle things on our end.” He said, giving me a look I understood quite well.
I nodded, “Great. Sending me right into the lion’s den.”
We got to the front of Draken’s room and he motioned for me to go in. Apparently, Draken was seated in there, angry at my tardiness.
“I think you will be good if you walk in there looking just like that.” His eyes roamed over me, stopping in my chest.
I soon realised with embarrassment the fact I was in fact naked underneath the T-shirt. My breast structure was very visible and perked up. I couldn’t go in like this. It was the same as going Naked with a collar that says fuck me.
Ezra was long gone by the time I decided against it. I turned around to leave and the door opened. Draken stood on his feet and looked pissed as fuck.
