That was you?

NALEDI’S POV
“I heard you killed two of my guards,” Draken said, flipping through a book with a serene look on his face.
I never thought I’d see the day.
I poured his tea into a cup and handed it over to him. “I made rid of weeds that would be a problem to the business,” I replied in a calm tone, pouring myself some tea too.
“Explain.”
He was yet to meet my eyes. I couldn’t tell if he was angry. He gave no cues, nothing at all. The only reason I was still seated beside him and pouring myself a cup of tea was because he couldn’t walk.
There was only so much he could do in his state. I dared to think I could deal properly with him if push came to shove. Thunder rattled the windows as the rain increased.
“Those men were using the women to satisfy their primal urges,” I state, drinking a cup of my tea afterwards.
“And why is that so bad?”
I wasn’t surprised. Not the littlest bit.
“Seeing we are already running short of women in good condition enough to carry out their duties. I wasn’t pleased to see a fucking guard who could easily pay a bitch to satisfy their needs try to kill another woman because she doesn’t fancy fucking him.” My tone was bitter.
A flip of the page. “Did you have to kill them though?” He finally dropped the book and picked up his cup, taking a long sip. “I heard they were two.”
“Let’s just say after the recent events of the last seventy-two hours, I wasn’t in a forgiving mood.” I dropped my cup. “Besides, I needed to make sure that the men knew exactly what it meant to cross me. I can’t have them falling out of order just because I am a woman. That won’t look good on me as the future Luna of this pack.”
That sweetened the deal. “You can do whatever you like.” He said, finally meeting my eyes. “As long as you do them for the right reasons.” I didn’t miss the warning in his tone.
I nodded, “Of course. Hopefully, I don’t have to resort to extreme measures to protect our interest in the future.”
Draken gave me a look I couldn’t predict. I could tell he wanted to say something but decided against it. I was glad we could finally put the talk to rest. Nevertheless, I wondered just who it was that decided to rat me out to him.
I could promise that such a person wouldn’t be getting flowers from me if at all I was able to figure out who it was. We drank our tea in silence and afterwards, gave him a list of things that were must-haves in what I termed to be my dream wedding.
Draken didn’t say a word, he watched me with cold eyes, only placing a few words here and there before finally demanding reports on how the day went. Ezra joined us and together we got to work, combing the day’s events, and receiving his inputs and orders.
By the time we were done, the rain had already stopped. Ezra was the first to leave. He had a whole lot of work to complete before the day was over and just when I was about to call it a day, Draken spoke.
“Everything you said concerning the wedding.” I stopped in my tracks. “Put it in a document and send it off to the event planner.”
I did a double-take. “Erm… I don’t really have a phone, or the ‘event planner’ number.” I said, facing him with raised eyebrows.
“Well, now you do.” He turned to his side and pulled out a drawer beside him.
Draken pulled out a mobile phone and handed it over to me.
“Draft a list and send it to her before the day breaks tomorrow.”
I couldn’t believe my eyes. I took the gift with a smile on my face. “Thank you!”
He motioned for me to leave, not showing the littlest bit of emotion. I walked out, phone in hand and with a smile on my face. By the time I shut the door behind me, the smile vanished from my face.
I looked at the phone, wary of his intent. One look inside and there were two numbers saved. Draken’s and the event planner. This man was actually serious with his plans.
As I walked down to my room, I texted the darned event planner, detailing the weirdest things I wanted for my non-existent wedding. I was about to open my room door when I remembered something disastrous.
I had left the fucking papers at the top of my office desk.
My reaction was instant. I left the door, phone in hand and made my way to the prison on foot. The sky was dark and by the time I got there, the production had wrapped up and the cells were quiet.
I rushed towards my office, and sure enough, it wasn’t locked. I didn’t have the opportunity to return to my office after my little demonstration because I needed to attend to other matters.
What was supposed to be a ‘be right back’, ended up with me in Draken’s office, sipping tea and narrating the day’s ordeal. As soon as I got into the office, I began my search for the documents which I was supposed to be sprawled over my desk but it was nowhere to be found.
My heart skipped at the thought of me losing it somewhere else during my long day of work but I was fairly sure that I didn’t leave the office with it. The last I remembered of it was in this place.
I didn’t go out with it. The thought of what might have happened to the darned documents made me nauseous, so I did what any sane person would do. I turned the darned office upside down.
One hour down the line and there was still no sight of it. I sat on the desk, my brain running a thousand miles when a voice jolted me from my thoughts.
“Looking for something?” I turned around and saw Ezra leaning on the door.
And what’s worse. In his hands were the papers I was going crazy looking for. My heart fell to the abyss of my stomach. He wasn’t supposed to have that. Where did he get it?
I straightened up, placing a front over my face. “Ezra. What are you doing here?” My pitiful attempt at deflecting.
He laughed. The motherfucker actually laughed in my face. “Let me rephrase that.” He raised the documents in his hands. “Looking for this?”
There was no point beating around the bush. I’d been caught red-handed. “Did you come into my office?”
He walked into the place with a chuckle. “For the past seventy-two hours, I’ve been wondering. What the hell was the Alpha’s soon-to-be-bride looking for in his office?”
My eyes widened.
“Kept sleep out of my eyes as I monitored you, knowing it was only a matter of time before you fessed up on what exactly you have planned.”
“When the Alpha decided he was ready to hand things over to save his life, a big mistake on your part by the way, I decided I couldn’t continue waiting for you to act before I figured out just what it was you wanted with the Yakuza record files.”
My body shook as I remembered the guard that walked in on me. “That was you?”
“In my glamoured glory.” He smiled, then shrugged. “Sometimes, having witch powers can come in handy. Scratch that, it gives me an advantage every single time.”
