NALEDI’S POV
I was nose-deep into the details of the incoming shipment of the Yakuza.
According to the documents, the proceeds of Caellum’s shipment would be rolling in today, the details of the process of payment were written in code, so vague it almost seemed like gibberish.
Not to me though. Having been in the system, I knew exactly what the scribbled words meant. There was a fucking account that the money would be paid to, I just needed to figure out which, and how many accounts the money would be filtered into.
The underworld was no stranger to money laundering. If my predictions were right, Draken wouldn’t put that money in one account. That would send a terrible signal to the government and put him in a lot more trouble than he would have liked.
In this case, I was looking out for accounts, probably in their tens that would receive the money without hassle or suspicion. From my time eavesdropping on his conversation, I figured they would be dispersing the money in Russia.
Which narrowed down my search to the companies owned by the Yakuza, and operating in Russia. The Yakuza was a big mafia pack and business with branches all over the world.
Although they weren’t dominating in Russia due to the Bravta pack, they weren’t doing too badly. I was going on all of this based on the data from seven years ago – before I murdered Don Yakuza and fled for my life.
Seven years is a long time to remain in the same state. So I believed if they were planning on laundering the money over there in Russia, they should have a lot more businesses and investments that would make that bid easier under their belt.
I dropped the paper by the side and went on my computer, looking through the documents with the hope I could get some idea of the trade business in Russia. Draken had complained about how I brought down his trade locations in Italy, and I figured it would be naive of me to think that it was the only place he had planted his dirty business.
Soon enough, the results pulled up and I was amazed at just how much the Yakuza business had developed over the years. They were still recognised as one of the biggest conglomerates in the world, with a lot of establishment in the Russian sphere that I believed they were a threat at this point.
After bombarding myself with enough information that I felt like I was up to date, I decided if I was going to track down the money, I needed a lot more than I had. A ruckus from outside my door dragged me out of my deductions.
I stepped out of the office with a frown and came face forward with a woman getting dragged out of the place. “What the hell is going on?” I seethed, hating how they handled the woman.
“This bitch attacked one of ours.” One of the guards said, spitting fire, “She is being sent to the pits for correction.”
I corked my brow, “The pits?”
“The Alpha made provision for a special place where cases like these are handled.” One of the men holding her explained.
At this point, I couldn’t give a rat’s ass for whatever the hell they thought but hell will freeze before I let them take this woman from my sight. Like her life wasn’t hard enough.
“And where is the attacked person?” I asked, looking between them to see the damage this woman had caused to be deemed due for a time in the fucking pit of correction.
Silence. They looked between themselves, unable to provide answers. My eyes narrowed at them. What the hell were they trying to do?
“They are trying to rape me!” The woman held suddenly spoke. I recognised the desperation in her eyes. The panic and need for me to believe her. “Please! Don’t let them take me!”
She was telling the truth.
A frost marred my face as I looked at the men. One of them had the decency to look embarrassed from getting caught while the other pushed his motion.
“She is a liar! She attacked one of us! She needs to be taught a lesson.”
The entire thing was comical. In fact, I could watch the drama unfold all day except it wasn’t a drama. It was reality and a fucking woman was being abused by yet another entitled little bitch.
My blood boiled at the sight, and my hand tingled to draw out the gun tucked under my shirt and blow someone’s head off. Two men who were currently tethering on my bad side.
“Let’s see. A fucking grown man attacks a woman in her cells. Tries to have his way with her and when unsuccessful, decides to take her into a fucking correction centre to begin the process again.” My tone was even. I was even smiling!
“Is that true?” I asked the men who now gave me death stares.
I didn’t have time for this shit.
I pulled out my gun and they froze, suddenly wary of me. “I asked a fucking question. Is that true?!”
One of the men fell on his knees, “I am sorry! Dawson tried to do it! I didn’t touch the woman!” He sold his friend without a moment’s thought.
The man in question didn’t look a bit sorry or even fhased that he had been caught. He dropped to his knees though, giving his friend the dirty eye and murmuring under his breath.
Since he had no words, I decided to tell him what I thought.
“The Alpha employed you to guard these women. Make sure they are in good condition to carry out their tasks.” A scoff, “And what did you do? You fucking tried to rape her and make her out to be the villain about it.”
My voice drew low and I squatted, getting to eye level with them. “Tell me why you don’t deserve to be killed for tampering with the Alpha’s business?”
Their eyes widened, they probably didn’t know the repercussions of what they had just done. Good thing I was willing to explain properly.
“Don’t you know that when you put one of these women in undue distress, you negatively impact their ability to carry out whatever task they have been given?” My tone betrayed the gravity of their offence. “You might not know it yet but the Alpha has given me free rule. Not only over here but in matters as relates to the entire pack and business.”
Now they were trembling. That’s more like it. I loved the fear in their eyes, the same they had inflicted on the woman who now stood free, watching us discuss the gravity of their offence.
“And my verdict in this case is that you deserve to be killed for trying to sabotage the business we are all committed to building. And the penalty for such crime is death.”
“Please… please forgive us!” They chorused, now scared out of their wits.
I was in no forgiving mode. From my experience with people like this, forgiving them is the same as giving them another opportunity to do worse. And we don’t want that now, do we?
I got on my feet and with a swift motion, placed one bullet in both their heads. Sending them to a permanent sleep. “Take her back to her cell, and let this serve as a warning to anyone who nurses any more of these funny ideas about my girls.” I smiled, “Theirs was quick and painless, but I promise to make my next scapegoat die a slow, torturous and painful one.”
My eyes moved round the others who watched me with raw fear in their eyes. “And if you think I don’t make true of my promise. Then please. Just dare me.”
