Don’t kill him

NALEDI’S POV
I wasn’t comfortable staying in my room. Neither was I comfortable leaving the documents behind. So I left with it. I walked out of my room and made my way downstairs with the papers placed securely in my ass.
It wasn’t easy to walk properly but I handled it like a pro. It wasn’t my first rodeo anyway. I soon walked into the reason everything seemed to be out of sorts today.
Draken was held at gunpoint by one of the men, enclosed in a circle of armed men, pointing their guns at the man who held their master at gunpoint.
“Drop your guns!” The man roared, looking like a deranged man. “Drop your gun or I will kill him!”
I remained rooted to my spot, looking around with widened eyes.
“Do not drop your gun,” Draken muttered despite the gun in his head. “Don’t fucking drop your guns.”
The man tightened his grip on his neck, “You look like you are tired of this life, Draken.” He seethed, “One more word and I promise to send you right to hell where you belong.”
“Don’t do it.” Draken was never afraid of death. “Don’t let him-”
Everything happened so fast. The man put a gunshot to his knee and returned the gun to his head before anyone could do anything. I had never seen Draken look so hurt in all my life.
“The next one would be to his head. PUT DOWN YOUR GUNS!” The maniac said and I watched the men look between themselves, wondering their next point of action.
Draken held his bleeding leg, and although it gave me a lot of joy to see him getting a tip of what he deserved, I knew I needed to do something. Fast.
I looked around the area, thinking of the best approach before I got discovered by the people. I didn’t have a gun. There was nothing I could use to defend myself without things going awry.
I turned around and saw a patch at the top of the stairs. If my memory served me right, there was a gun that was placed between the stairs. Draken’s father hid guns in the most unconventional places and I had once seen him pull out a gun from there.
My eyes flickered between the stairs and the commotion happening a few feet from me. I couldn’t be of help if I didn’t have a gun. I was as good as useless. My decision was natural.
The plan was to get the gun as quietly as possible and figure out the rest on the go. I couldn’t lie and say I didn’t like the idea of having Draken suffer a bit more at the hands of a psychopath like himself.
I tiptoed up the stairs, managing to make my way up without dragging their attention. I heard another gunshot and I froze, wondering what body part was affected this time around.
I got on my knees and my hands gently tapped the floor, in search of a loose floorboard. My search came to an end when I got to a foot mat placed at the top of the stairs.
With one push to the side, I hit the jackpot.
Gently, I unravelled the hotspot and sure enough, I dug out an M82AI gun. After checking to see it was filled with bullets, I tucked the baby behind my back, took a deep breath and proceeded down the stairs like I didn’t know what was going on.
This time around, the people noticed my presence and all eyes turned towards me. Not only was Draken bleeding on his leg, but he was also bleeding from his shoulder. This man was efficient in putting holes in Draken’s body.
Pity I was going to have to stop him to gain a right and stronger standing with the Alpha. What better way to show my devotion than saving his life? If there was anything that Luka’s case taught me, it was the fact that saving the life of your enemy is the first step to taking them down.
“Let me go and I’ll let you live,” Draken spoke with gritted teeth. “This place is an impenetrable forte. If you managed to sneak your way in, there is no way you can leave without getting killed. Even if you kill me.”
“So I’ll make you a deal. Surrender your gun and live. I’ll forgive that this ever happened.” It shocked me how he was still able to strike deals despite being held at gunpoint.
“You killed Nicolai! I can never trust a bastard like you!” The man was eaten up by anger and pain. “I don’t care if I die, but at least, I’ll be avenging Nicolai of your senseless killing.”
“Don’t kill him!” I didn’t know when the words came out of my mouth.
I can’t let him have such privilege. It was exclusive to me.
“Nicolai isn’t dead.” I lied through my teeth when his attention was on me. “He probably made you think he died so he can dupe you of your money.”
I was making up shit on the go, hands raised in surrender as I proceeded forward, making my way through the herd of heads and guns. Draken looked pissed. He didn’t want me here. That bit was clear by the look he threw my way.
“Liar! This fucker killed him! This fucker killed him after everything we did to secure the shipment. I should end his fucking life. He broke his promise.”
It seemed like this was one of Nicolai’s loyal men. Just what did he think he would achieve by coming into the lion’s den? His life was over and he didn’t even know it.
“Nicolai is a master at fraud. Do you really think that he would let himself get killed? Why the hell would the Alpha kill someone who went through such lengths to accomplish a mission?”
I beat my chest, “I am Naledi Rogers. I was kidnapped and brought here by Nicolai and I watched him get paid his due and sent out on another mission. He is probably hidden in some other country, carrying out his next fucking heist while making you think he is dead.”
It seemed like I was getting through to him. “It’s not like it’s his first time faking his death.” I put down my hands when I noticed his hold around Draken slackened. “You just fucking walked into your death for someone capable of doing-”
I pulled out my gun and with the precision of a surgeon, delivered a shot to his spinal cord. The effect was instantaneous. I watched the man drop on the floor, dragging Draken down with him, the gun fell out of his hands and blood poured out his waist as he groaned in pain.
“Kill him!” The alpha’s order was absolute, and immediately, the men picked up their guns, aiming at the finished man as they carried out the Alpha’s demand. Shooting at him until there was nothing left of him.
I remained rooted to my spot, shocked at the level of violence and bullets wasted on one man. Another person I had inadvertently killed on my quest to take down Draken. My body shook as I made my way to the devil, helping him up until his guards joined me in the process.
“He’s losing blood. Get the bullet out!” I fired out orders and naturally, they obeyed.
