NALEDI’S POV
I did it. I sold my soul to the devil.
Last night was a lot of things, terrible being the least of it. I made a deal with the devil and signed it off by giving him access to my body. You heard right. I gave him access to my fucking body.
I still feel his grubby fingers inside of me. Intrusive, violating and just wrong.
When he realized that I was not into it, he let me go, promising to be back to collect what was his. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. This was my life now. On the other side, Draken promised to see what he was going to do about it.
I couldn’t help but feel like he was being slick with me but there was nothing I could do at this rate. I could only follow him blindly and hope that I could get something out of the efforts I put into this fucking mission of mine.
The sun rose on the wrong side today. I was lying on my bed when a woman came into my room with word from Draken. “The master has requested that you get ready.”
I sat up, not quite in the mood for anything at the moment. “What for?”
The woman didn’t appreciate my tone. I could tell by the whiplash look on her face. Good thing I had other things to worry about.
“The master will be in a better position to answer your question.” She said,
Before I could speak, she took a bow and headed out of the room, muttering something under her breath. Just great. Talk about freaking great.
I hopped into the bathroom and soon enough, I was clad in a black assemble. I was going for the devil’s look this time around. It didn’t take long before I heard a knock on my door.
My nose flared in confusion. Draken never knocked on my door. He walked in like he owned the darned place, which if I was to be honest, he did. It didn’t help that I was locked in, being a prisoner and all.
I heard the jack of keys and the door finally flung open. A pair of brown eyes showed up before me. My face morphed into a frown at the stranger.
“I have been assigned to lead you to the Master.” His words were straight to the point, leaving no room for refusal.
He was giving the ‘move or I move you kind of vibe’. I swallowed, not out of nervousness, but because I couldn’t understand the need for Draken sending such good good-looking man to me.
Was this a fucking test? Men shouldn’t be that pretty in the eyes.
I nodded and made my way out of my prison room for the first time in a long time. I sniffed the air and I felt content. I was a step closer to achieving my goals. Now I just needed to be careful not to make a mistake that would send me right back to hell.
Draken was standing in his living room, talking to a man who looked like he could pack a mean punch. As soon as he saw me, his eyes brightened.
“Attai!” He rushed to my side, taking me by the waist and dragging me flush against him.
I fought the grim that nearly took over my face. He was way too close for comfort. I hated it. “Meet Ezra.” He gestured to the man that looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here. “He will take us back home.”
My eyes twitched at his use of words. “Home?”
He smiled, “Yes love.” He placed a kiss on my cheek, looking like an excited child. “Ezra is a traveller.”
I cringed at his endearment but it was short-lived. “What do you mean?”
“Ezra will take us back to Tokyo. The Yakuza head quarters.” His words confused me even more.
“Where are we?” The words were out of my lips before I could stop it.
I looked around, it was the same house we had lived in. I was of the belief we were at the headquarters. There was no way houses could be that similar looking. No fucking way.
“Russia,” Ezra said and I almost stumbled on my feet.
“What?”
“I had Ezra spell the place so we could have a little bonding time without intervention from Alek Volkov.” A shrug. “Now that you have been whipped to place, we can return safely to Tokyo and continue our business.”
I couldn’t believe my ears.
“Don’t tell me you still think those little Caellum bitches are the only gifted people, Attai.” my look was blank. “Ezra here is one of the top gifted people in the world. a wizard and a traveller. He puts the Cosa Nostra greatest weapons to shame.”
“So you are saying that all this time, we have been in Russia?”
“Moscow,” Ezra added and I felt the walls enclose on me.
“Don’t look so surprised love. It was hard for even Nicolai to get you back into Asia at such short notice. The last thing I needed was for him to try and fail. So I figured it was better we meet here.”
“Alek…” I felt a sting of betrayal at the thought of him being in on this, “Did Alpha Alek know about it?”
Gone was the look of happiness on the demon’s face. He didn’t like my questions. Noted.
“Not the slightest bit.” He looked at Ezra, “And I intend for it to remain like that.” His tone was grave and the next minute, Ezra placed his hand on my shoulder and everything turned black.
******
I felt when we got into the Yakuza Manor. The morbid feeling of something crawling into my body, making me almost puke was telltale enough.
How the hell did I miss this? I mourned the fact that we were back. If I had known we were still in Alek’s territory, maybe I might have found a way earlier to get myself some help.
I didn’t mourn for so long because that would mean I wouldn’t have a chance to recover the lost shipments or the proceeds. I encouraged myself, knowing I was here for the greater good.
I needed to persevere and make sure Draken was happy so I could hack into his system and find out how to carry out this deathly mission I assigned to myself.
“Attai.” Draken’s voice made me open my eyes. “Welcome home.”
A shiver went through my body as I looked around the area, recognising the red and black-themed minimalist room. It belonged to his father, the Don of the Yakuza.
Scratch that, the former Don of the Yakuza.
I got up from the sofa I lay on, unable to speak.
“This will be our room, Attai.” He said with glowing orbs. “I can get the people to modify things a bit if you don’t like the arrangement of the place but I think it’s perfect.”
When I didn’t say a word, his eyes met mine in question.
I cleared my throat. “I think it’s perfect too.” I lied with gritted teeth.
“Beautiful.” He says, caressing my face with his thumb. He’s got to stop touching me. “I know this is where you killed my father.” His eyes turned frost. “Do you get a kick out of staying in here? Does it make you want to kill me too?”
I gulped.
