Dance with me

NALEDI’S POV
“This is crazy. The Alpha will have my head.”
We were currently trying to get Marcel to do the shadow spell on me. After thinking it through, I figured I wasn’t going to be comfortable with having Korah send me details of whatever Donna and Caellum were up to.
I’d feel better if I had to do it myself. Watch them and see if truly, Caellum was having the hots for Donna after marking me. The little problem was that Marcel was having a hard time understanding that this was a one-time thing.
“Told you,” Korah said in a sing-song voice.
Now I was getting impatient. “You are supposed to be on my side!” I reminded Korah with a frown and turned the other way, facing Marcel.
“Don’t make things harder than it needs to be,” I said, pouting like a child. “We’ve done this before. There’s literally no risk to it. If Luka couldn’t perceive I was a wolf until the very end then it would work out fine. Caellum doesn’t need to know. It’ll be our little secret.”
Marcel shook his head. “I can’t do what you are asking, my lady. And this is way more than I used to do in the past. In order to fully hide you, which is next to impossible, not only do I need to use a shadow spell to kill your essence, but I also need to glamour you so you don’t get discovered as soon as you get in.”
“I can’t hold up two of those on you especially when you are…” He trailed.
“Marked.” I said in a bitter tone. “Maybe Korah would be going alone then.”
She shook her head, “That’s off the table. There’s no way I’m going to a darned party alone.”
My eyes narrowed, “Party?”
Marcel and Korah exchanged looks. They knew something I didn’t.
“Spill,” I ordered.
“There’s nothing to-” I gave her the look and she let out a resigned shrug.
“The Alpha is going to meet with an important guest at a party which will be held in the city.” I nodded, soaking up information.
“Do you know where it is?” I asked and she shook her head,
“No. It’s strictly by invite, there’s no way you can go.”
Korah read me beautifully. The fact she said there was no way I could go only made me want to prove her wrong.
“Have you met me?” I said with a corny smile, “I’ll quickly get dressed.”
“This is a bad idea.”
“Get dressed,” I said, then turned to Marcel, “Please get the car ready.”
He pointed at himself. “Me?”
“Who’s going to drive?” I asked a rhetorical question before I made my way to my room, excitement pumping through my veins.
It’s been a while since I got dressed. Or attended a party for that matter. This would be killing two birds with one stone.
Soon enough, I was dressed in a flawless red gown with a killer pointy black heel. My makeup was flawless as I walked into the car with Marcel waiting for me.
“The Alpha’s going to be pissed.” He said, but I didn’t care.
Korah jumped right on the passenger seat and we hit the roads. The drive wasn’t long. We arrived in more or less fifteen minutes. It was a hotel, an expensive one at that.
The entire place was booked, and luxury cars were parked outside the majestic building. I looked right at the entrance and sure enough, there was a security checking in people.
I stepped out of the car, reeking luxury as I walked right to the front with an upturned nose. My graceful stride was cut off by the gruff voice of a security official who held me by the arm.
“May I see your pass, ma’am?” He said curtly, eyeing me like some stray animal.
I pulled my arm out of his hold, seething. “How dare you touch me?”
“Please provide an ID and we will check if your name is on the list.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. “Do you know how much this dress cost? Do you know who I am?”
They didn’t spare me a look. This time, they shoved me out of the way, attending to others who looked at me like I wore the back of my clothes. The fuck?!
“Excuse me, my partner is in there and I need-” A strong arm covered my shoulder and I stiffened.
“Alek Volkov.” He said, and after checking the list, they raised the barrier, giving us room to enter.
I couldn’t resist the urge to say, “Next time, when you see a woman looking like me, I suggest you get out of the way or you will find yourself without a job.” I snarled, almost baring my fangs.
The men seemed afraid. I loved it when I got that reaction from people. Now on to better things. “Forgive her, she’s having a bad day.” Alex shot off and I gave him the look.
I didn’t have time to speak about how I didn’t like his words because I was faced with the fanciest chilliest party ever known to man. It was a freaking billionaire gathering.
“Naledi Rogers. What the hell are you doing here?” Alec asked, getting my attention.
I shrugged, “I heard there was a party.”
“And invited yourself?” I hated the smug look on his face. “The last time we properly saw I had to order you to be my plus one in a party. Didn’t peg you for the kind to waltz into a party uninvited.” His eyes narrowed at me. “What’s the catch?”
My eyes caught Caellum and my entire disposition changed. He was standing with a glass in his hands, smiling at that wench who was apparently involved in a three-way conversation going on between them and some older man.
I wanted to know what was funny. I didn’t know when I started my walkover.
“Hey, hey, hey, jealous pants. That’s not happening.” Alek held me back by the arm.
My gaze was cold. “Thank you for getting me inside. I’ll be fine on my own now, Alpha.”
“Don’t you dare try that with me, Attai?” His face turned serious, “This is a serious business and the last thing I need is you throwing a jealous fit and ruining everything I have worked for months to organise.”
“Now I know you’re angry. That mark on your neck probably making you want to rip their heads off but I promise there are better ways to offset that feeling.” He dragged me by the waist and I was flush against him. “Revenge.”
“What are you talking about?” I managed to say, swallowing hard.
“Dance with me.”
