NALEDI’S POV
Caellum sat up on the bed as soon as he heard my tone – choking me with the gorgeousness of his bare body.
“Good morning sunshine.” He drawled, sporting an effortless smile. “What crawled up your ass and died?”
If I hadn’t heard the joke in his tone, I might have given him another one of my many rude remarks, but seeing that was not the case, I resulted to the same old.
“You haven’t answered my question.” I pointed out. “What are you doing on my bed?”
Caellum must be in a good mood. A perfectly good mood. Because he maintained that boyish smirk as he said. “Technically, this is my bed. Seeing the house is mine,”
“My name is on the deets of the house so you have no proof of that. I could have you thrown out, you know?” I said with an equal smirk on my face.
“I loaned you the house for a while.” He said in a sing-song voice, getting up the bed. “Care to join me in the shower? Get in some morning workout.” He added with a wink.
I rolled my eyes, “You’d be crazy to think I’ll do anything with you after what you did yesterday.” I snapped, my tone betraying an undertone of anger.
Caellum didn’t miss it. He turned around and said, “Why? You didn’t have a problem with it last night.”
I felt like I’d been slapped. “What? Because I let you into my pants one night, you think it’s your birthright?”
“Technically speaking, I am your mate so if there’s-”
“I don’t want to hear it. We had our fun last night. It lasted what it’s worth. Welcome to the real world. I believe you have a job to do. Cosa Nostra must be moaning with your prolonged absence at the headquarters because you can’t seem to get your hands off me and your pawns off my business.”
Caellum relaxed on the wall, both hands in his pockets. I hated how effortlessly fine he was. “Is this about last night? I already apologised.”
I felt momentarily stunned by how cooly he was reacting to me. To this.
“You apologised?” I scoffed, “I barely count you fucking me as an apology. If you want to apologise, you do it decently, like a man, right to my face and not when I was wasted from the penetration of your monster cock.”
Caellum face contorted to that of amusement. I slapped my mouth when I realised I had somehow managed to compliment his freaking dick during my rampage. I rolled my eyes when he spoke,
“Listen. I get that you were too mesmerised by my-” I gave him a hard look, warning him against saying what I knew was at the tip of his lips. “Regardless. I was wrong to say what I said at the party.” He continued in a serious tone.
“I never meant to speak down on you or downright insult you for doing a job I put you up to.” His eyes were all over the place. “I was blinded by jealousy and let it get the best of me.” His eyes finally met mine. “And for that, I sincerely apologise.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. I opened my mouth to speak but the words were lodged in my throat. Who would have thought he had this side to him? With the genuine look on his face, I was tempted to follow him right into that shower and let him give me that workout.
That is if it was still on the table. I guess I was a bitch since the only thing I could think of after getting an apology from Caellum freaking Morello was to be impaled by his monster cock.
Yup. Monster cock was staying alright?
I shook off the bizarre thoughts in my head and nodded my head. “I appreciate your apology. And since I am in a forgiving mood this morning. I’ll let it pass.” Caellum’s eyes lit and my heart skipped. “Don’t rejoice too soon. There will be ground rules around here if your forgiveness is going to last.”
Caellum shook his head amusedly, “Let’s hear it then.”
His words were music to my ears. I got up from the bed, only then remembering I was bare. I looked up and saw the cloud of lust gather in his eyes as he took me in.
Not again. I thought, walking towards the robe that hung by the wall of the room. More like limping. My legs were so sore, I could hardly walk. Thank you Caellum.
I could tell he wore a shit-eating grin seeing me limp over the room. When I covered my body, I let my eyes wander towards him. And there it was, his shit-eating grin that made him so beautiful but made me want to slap it off his face.
“Having trouble walking, My lady?” His words enflamed my cheeks.
“You must be feeling good about yourself,” I muttered, rolling my eyes and holding back the smile that threatened to betray me.
“The word is epic. Now about those rules..”
I nodded and took a seat by the little dining table by the corner. When he remained in his position, I motioned for him to sit too.
Caellum took his precious time walking towards me, before planting himself on the seat in front of me.
“There are just two rules.” I started. “You will give me the respect, privacy and free reign on this job.” My tone left no room for negotiation. “There will be no more talking down on me, looking over my head and outright policing how this mission will be.”
I continued when I saw he had some reservations, “Of course that doesn’t mean you will not be carried along. I will report every move I make to you but at my discretion.” My eyes focused on his, “Do you agree?”
Caellum took his sweet time pondering over it. As he should.
“Fine, you have free reign in this case. I’ll get out of your hair and let you do your thing. But that doesn’t mean I’m not watching. I’ll just supervise from afar, and keep my thoughts to myself.”
I shrugged, “Fair enough.”
“What’s the second?”
“I’ll tell you at a later time,” I said, and his face turned sour. I liked eating my cake and having it. “About Luka.” I started, catching his attention once again. “I walked out on him last night, not so disrespectfully that we would have an issue, but I just thought to report that to you.”
“That means you didn’t get any information.”
“I wouldn’t say that. In fact, I think I learned a few things about that Vamp. Which leads me to the theory that he would be reaching out to me soon.”
Caellum’s brows narrowed, “Why would you-”
A ringing phone cut short our conversation. Mine. With one look at the caller ID, I realised I was pinpoint in my little observations of Luka.
I picked up the phone and showed it to him. “There he is. Our mysterious caller. Luka.”
