NALEDI’S POV
A cold shiver went down my spine and for a moment, I savoured the sweet feeling of him being close to me. Touching me.
That feeling lasted a total of three seconds because I immediately thrashed against him, fighting my way out of his hold, all to no avail.
“You think you can run from me?” His tone was mocking as he pushed me into my room, closed the door behind me and placed me behind it, with his hands on my sides.
“What were you thinking, Naledi?” His tone was softer, if I didn’t know better, I’d say he was… hurt?
“You could have died for god’s sake!” He roared, hitting the wall behind me so hard it was a miracle I was able to hear. “Luka could have killed you! He could have killed you without a second thought!”
Darn, I hated his tone.
“Do you think I don’t know that?!” I screamed back, refusing to be bullied. “Granted! I was a fool to thwart your orders but trust me if I hadn’t done something that foolish, I wouldn’t be able to know what I know about him. Isn’t that the point of all this?”
Caellum threw his hands in the air, biting out words in frustration. “Do you think I give a fuck about whatever Luka is up to? Newsflash, Naledi. I don’t give a flying fuck what he is up to if it meant I’d get it at the cost of your life!”
“I was doing my job! Hell, if you care so much about me why the hell are we wasting our breaths arguing? I came out alive, didn’t I? That should satiate whatever feeling that-”
“You have no right to tell me how to feel about my mate waltzing in harm’s way! You can’t just do whatever you want and have me deal with it, Naledi. What would happen if that vampiric blood-sucking demon had finished whatever was left of your fickle stupid self?”
He shouted like I had a problem hearing him.
“What happens if I didn’t distract him from KILLING you? What if I wasn’t there? Or Korah wasn’t there to magically draw you out of your DEATH, Naledi? What then?!”
“Then we wouldn’t be here, arguing over SPILT milk. Face it Caellum, I disobeyed you, I fucking did what I darned pleased and if I was faced with a similar situation, chances are I’d do the EXACT thing.” I pushed his chest. “And you know why? Because that’s what I do. I get the JOB done!”
Caellum shook his head with a crazy look in his eye. “That’s it. Time out. Pack up. The job’s done. You’re done here. No more. If you are going to be stupid, then you might as well be stupid in my darned house where I’ll be sure you won’t get yourself killed or so help me god, I’ll kill you myself.”
I faced him square in the eye. “I’m not going.”
He did a double-take. “What?”
“There’s no way I’m returning until the job is done. I’m not one to leave behind a job. I’m way too in to back out now.”
“Says who?”
“Says me, Caellum. Don’t push it because you will only be wasting your breath. I made a mistake tonight, and I understand your reservations but I promise I won’t let things escalate the next time.”
“There will be no next time, Naledi. You are done. What’s hard to understand? Do you fucking want me to spell it out? Are you dumb?”
“You were right to suspect, Luka. He does have something fishy going on. You gave him quite a scare today and-”
Caellum grabbed me before I could finish my sentence. Everything went out the window when his lips connected with mine. That feeling. That feeling of finally getting something you have been craving all night engulfed me as I reciprocated the kiss with vigour.
My body was set ablaze. Caellum left no stone unturned as his sizzling hands groped my body, tearing off my clothes as he walked me to the bed, holding our rough and intense make-out.
I felt my leg hit the bed and we broke up, breathing heavily and looking into each others eyes, Caellum looked wild with his ruffled hair and harsh breathing. The sight of him made tingles wash through my insides.
Damn, that fucking mate bond for making him look so attractive.
“No, Naledi. You gave me quite the scare today.” He pushed me to the bed and dived with me instantly. “Do you know how hard it was for me to sit there and watch you play pet for him?”
My breath hitched when he reached the sweet spot on my neck, kissing, nibbling and almost biting. The spot where his mark was meant to go. I was dripping, and my arousal filled the air.
“I nearly went nuts seeing him fucking bite you. You belong to me, Naledi. No one, no one was supposed to touch even the hair on your head. Don’t you understand?” He showered kisses through my neck and down to my breasts. “Don’t you understand that you have no right to put yourself in harm’s way? That you have no right to scare me like that?”
“Caellum…” I moaned when he bit my nipple.
Sweet tingles shot through me, sending sparks down my dripping centre.
“I almost lost you. And you think I care about a darned job?” He bit my belly button, kissing down, and tearing every piece of garment that dared to stand in the way. “You must understand. You must understand that because you are mine to keep, mine to protect, and mine to possess, I can’t let danger come to you even if it’s at your own hands.”
My senses were heightened. With every kiss and every step down to my centre, my body sizzled with need. A desire and ache to be with him. To let him ravish me and enjoy the pleasure he had to give.
“I’m sorry, Naledi. But the journey ends here.” He said just above my naked centre. “I can’t let you get hurt. I wouldn’t be able to live through it.” His lips went down my naked coochie, and nerves of pleasure and anticipation filled me.
“I should punish you. Leave you hanging and give you a glimpse of how it feels to be let down so painfully,” My eyes fluttered open, and I opened my mouth to speak but he slid a finger into me. My words were stopped by the sweet feel of his finger on my insides. “But that would be punishing myself too.”
Two fingers. Slowly moving in and out, driving me to the brink of crazy.
“I’d go crazy if I didn’t get a taste of you tonight. Not after what you put me through.”
