Gotcha

NALEDI’S POV
“There is a car waiting out back, but we need to get through the door,” Korah said and I looked at her like she’s grown a second head.
“The door is raging! There’s no way we could get through that!”
“Exactly why I put it there in the first place, trust me and let’s get out of here.” She made to drag me but I remained rooted to my spot.
“I think there should be an emergency exit somewhere. The fact that I heal quickly doesn’t mean I’ll walk into the fire just for the fun of it. There has to be another way.”
“My lady!” Her voice was panicked now. “This building is burning from the foundations up. It’s only a matter of time before it falls apart. The last thing we should be doing is arguing. Just trust me.”
I didn’t get an opportunity to speak because she dragged me towards the door, and I followed, preparing my mind for the burn that followed going through that door.
As soon as we got to the fire, Korah stopped before it, stretched out her right hand and commanded, “Esperaco delvis!”
Confusion clad my form until, to my greatest surprise, I watched the fire clear out of the way, producing a path to the barely standing door.
“What did you do?!”
“We don’t have time for questions, the others are waiting. I’ll explain as soon.”
Korah led us through the path of the fire, putting away every rude surprise using different chants that somehow managed to keep the fire away.
Soon, we were out of the club, mere seconds before the fire service began their duties. Meanwhile, the floor was scattered with humans, half-dressed, burned, dead, or crying, it was a terrible situation.
We got to the car and Marcus looked relieved to see me, his tone showed nothing of his appreciation of my life.
“We need to go. The Alpha is waiting.”
I swallowed at his words. Of course, he was not going to let me live it down. I was banking on the fact that my surviving a near-death situation would make my cause a bit easier to plead for my royal fuck up.
The drive back was silent and filled with tension. Questions swirled through my mind. Korah. I thought she was a werewolf. I had perceived her wolf. I still did.
How was she able to command fire? What was she saying at the time? How did she do it? Just when I decided to question her, we arrived at the house.
The fleet of cars at the front of the mansion told me we had a guest. A fine furious guest if you asked me.
As soon as our cars parked, the doors flung open. Caellum stormed out of the building, dressed in a black dress shirt and pants, eyes focused on me and blazing.
“I gave you one job! One fucking job Naledi!” He got in front of me in a matter of seconds and took me roughly by the arm. “I told you to wait for my greenlight! Not to leave the darned house! And what did you do? Slap my instructions to my face!”
His grip on me was tight. Tighter than you’d ever imagine. “Caellum, please…”
“It’s Alpha to you!” He roared and dragged me across the compound into the house. “Not only did you flat out disobey me, but you dared to try and get yourself killed? What brand of crazy do you think you are?!”
Marcus and Korah followed us from behind. “Alpha, Please..”
“Shut up! Both of you will stay down here, while I go settle somethings with the lady who thought it wise to disobey me.”
That lady was me. That lady was me. I thought in panic.
Caellum dragged me towards the stairs and I knew I couldn’t let myself get there. There was no way in hell I could let him get me in bed. Who knew the sort of punishment he wanted to meet out to me?
I was still furious from the last time. The last thing I needed was to get my mind befuddled again, because let’s face it, the only way he could get at me was leaving me high and dry.
Or perhaps threatening me with the remains of the Lucchese family. Or getting me back to his house. All of which had their ups and downs.
“Walk. Or I will make you.” Caellum said, his eyes burning with rage and thirst.
I didn’t know which was bigger. His anger or his obvious thirst for me.
“If there’s anything you want to say or do, I’ll feel a lot better if you do it in front of them.” I maintained my stance, making it clear I had no plan of moving. “Just get it over with.”
Caellum looked at me like I was crazy. And maybe I was.
“Leave.” He ordered, and the others turned around, hastily making their way to the front door.
“Stay!” I ordered and to my greatest surprise, they halted in their steps.
“I’ll pretend you didn’t hear me the first time, Idiots. I said LEAVE!”
The windows rattled at the sheer power of his voice. Wind from the night sky found their way inside the mansion, the windows were rattled open by his little display of power.
Marcus and Korah didn’t stand a chance. They left like there was fire in their butts and before I knew what was happening, I was alone with the monster that is Caellum Morello.
I moved back towards the steps as he stalked me. “Where do you think you are going?” He snarled when he noticed I was headed for the stairs.
A wry smile found its way to my lips, “You see… I barely managed to make it alive. The club went on fire and you saw it too, you saw how Luka nearly drained the blood in my system but I managed to survive that too.”
I climbed one step, calculating the fastest way to get into my room and shut the door before he could get in.
“I’ve had a horrible night, I smell like burnt potato, and I have a lot of questions. So pretty please, just, let me-”
I dashed for the stairs, using every bit of strength I had left in me.
“YOU!” Caellum roared and I felt him hot on my tracks.
Caellum was chasing me!
“I’m sorryyy-” I screamed,
My door was only a few feet away. I felt my heart soar in joy. I did it. I beat him to it. I reached for the handle of my door and turned it open.
Just before I took one step in, I felt an arm wrap around my waist. Delicious sparks reverbrated through me, shocking me to a still. His voice was breathless, and his lips pressed in my earlobes.
“Gotcha.”
