Hearing the middle-aged man’s flattering words, Isaac’s expression finally softened a bit.
The middle-aged man quietly breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that he had struck a chord with Isaac.
Unlike the harmonious atmosphere in Franklin’s private room, this one was filled with flattery and unease.
Isaac felt a bit irritated, especially when he thought of Franklin and Sylvia being close together. He suddenly remembered Sylvia mentioning a friend in the hospital and frowned.
He turned to one of the middle-aged men and said, “Go find out who Sylvia visited in the hospital a few days ago.”
“Yes, right away,” the man responded immediately, leaving the room to instruct his subordinates to investigate.
About ten minutes later, he returned to the private room.
Eager to please, he approached Isaac and said, “Isaac, she visited a girl named Evie. It seems the girl had an ectopic pregnancy…”
Before he could finish, Isaac’s face darkened with displeasure. “What did you say?”
The middle-aged man shrank back, swallowing hard. He was telling the truth, so why was Isaac unhappy?
His voice trembled as he continued, “I… I said Evie was hospitalized for an ectopic pregnancy…”
“Damn it!” Isaac slammed his hand on the table, causing the cups and plates in front of him to tumble to the floor. Fortunately, the thick carpet muffled the sound.
“Get out! All of you, get out!” Isaac shouted coldly. The middle-aged men turned pale and quickly left their seats, scrambling to escape.
Once outside, the man who had investigated wiped the sweat from his forehead. “This young master is so unpredictable. By the way, what’s Evie’s relationship with him?”
“You don’t know,” another man said, leaning in. “When they were in H Rovirsa, Evie, the third daughter of the Anto Family, grew up with Isaac. But isn’t Isaac in love with Miss Andrews? It’s strange.”
“Men always want both the red rose and the white rose,” another man said with a lecherous grin. “I also heard that Evie is involved with Jasper from Mr. Maskelyne’s side. It’s a complicated love triangle! And Isaac even has a child with the eldest daughter of the Anto Family.”
“You’re spreading rumors. That child isn’t Isaac’s,” another man said, lowering his voice after looking around. “I heard Isaac ignores that child completely.”
“Really?”
These men gossiped more than old ladies.
Isaac stood alone in the empty private room for a while before heading to his car and driving straight to the hospital. Damn it! How could Evie be pregnant with another man’s child? He wouldn’t allow it!
His black car sped down the road like a shooting star. By the time he reached the hospital, he had run several red lights, but he didn’t care.
He got out of the car and only realized he didn’t know which room Evie was in once he reached the inpatient department’s lobby.
He called his subordinates to find out the room number and then took the elevator up.
Sweat beaded on Isaac’s forehead as he strode toward Evie’s room. As he approached, he heard her playful voice saying, “I can’t eat anymore.”
“I’m really full.”
“I can’t eat another bite.”
She had never spoken to him like that…
Isaac paused and saw through the door crack that Jasper was feeding Evie porridge. Jasper coaxed her gently, “Just two more bites. You haven’t eaten enough.”
“I really can’t,” Evie said, her face still pale and looking thinner but her eyes still bright. “Jasper, you’re so annoying! You eat it yourself.”
Jasper smiled and started eating the porridge she hadn’t finished.
“Why are you eating my leftovers? Isn’t that gross?” Evie asked incredulously.
“What’s wrong with that? It’s called sharing everything,” Jasper replied with a smile before finishing her porridge and starting on his own bowl.
Isaac was seething with rage. This damn Jasper! No wonder he wasn’t with Franklin; he had come to the hospital instead!
It must be this trash who caused Evie’s ectopic pregnancy!
Even through the door, Evie and Jasper could feel Isaac’s murderous intent. They both looked toward the door simultaneously.
Jasper put down his bowl and went to open the door, only to find Isaac standing there with a murderous expression. “Isaac?”
Isaac shoved past him and stormed into the room.
Evie was stunned to see him. “What are you doing here?”
“You’ve got some nerve not telling me about your serious illness!” Isaac accused as if Evie had done something unforgivable behind his back.
“We’re just childhood acquaintances… aren’t we? So I didn’t want to cause any misunderstandings,” Evie replied with a slight smile, her expression distant. “Besides, I have my boyfriend here with me. What use would it be to tell you?”
“You have your wife and child. We’re just familiar strangers at best. Or maybe I never really knew you,” Evie said with a somewhat panicked smile. “Isaac, please leave and don’t bother me again.”
Jasper felt a pang of sympathy for Evie as he listened. After the Cultural Heritage Fair ended, he had left Franklin and rushed to the hospital to be with her.
During the day, Jasper’s parents had been there, but after he arrived, he sent them back to their hotel to rest.
Isaac felt all his concern for Evie dissipate under her cold demeanor. Suppressing his anger, he said, “Evie, you’ve got guts! Fine!”
With that, he slammed the door and left.
He had rushed over in concern for her, and she treated him like this!
Shouldn’t she be grateful?
Given her status as an orphan and an adopted daughter of the Anto Family, she should be thankful that someone like him, the president’s son, came to visit her… She deserved this suffering for being so ungrateful!
He left in a rage.
Jasper returned to Evie’s bedside and hugged her small frame. “Ignore him. Treat him like a mad dog.”
“He is a mad dog,” Evie said indifferently. “Don’t worry; I’ve long kicked him out of my mind.”
A man like Isaac could remain high and mighty on his own!
Jasper smiled gently and picked up his bowl of porridge again. “When you’re discharged in a couple of days, I’ll take you out. Aettosa has many famous scenic spots worth visiting. Especially now that Maidroy Mountain is covered in snow. Have you heard of that trend where people eat instant noodles on Maidroy Mountain?”
Evie laughed. “Yes, I’ve heard of it. They say the scenery is beautiful there, especially watching the sunrise from the golden summit.”
“Great! I’ll book a hotel for us.”
“Okay!”
But Jasper didn’t expect that two days later when he had booked the hotel and completed her discharge paperwork, Evie would be gone.
Holding her discharge papers in hand, he stood in the empty hospital room for a long time before grabbing a nurse who was tidying up. “Where’s the patient from this room?”
“Oh, she just left! Didn’t you know?” The nurse looked puzzled.
Jasper’s heart clenched painfully as he rushed out of the hospital only to see Evie getting into a taxi.
“Evie! Evie!”
He ran after the taxi but couldn’t catch up on foot. Desperately, he hailed another taxi. “Follow that car!”
“Which one?” The driver looked confused among all the cars ahead.
Jasper looked up only to realize that Evie’s taxi was long gone.
His chest hurt with frustration. “That idiot! Why did she leave?”

At Hipps Manor.
Sylvia yawned as she came downstairs and saw Mollie sitting in the living room learning needlework from Queena.
Mollie pricked her finger by accident, causing a drop of blood to appear instantly.
Sylvia couldn’t help but laugh. “Stop trying; this requires talent.”
“Not everyone is a genius like you,” Mollie retorted, sucking on her finger until it stopped bleeding.
Sylvia looked Mollie over. “Have you been having trouble sleeping lately?”
Mollie stared at her in surprise. “Yes, how did you know?”
Sylvia smiled. “I’m a doctor and know some traditional medicine too. If I couldn’t tell that much, I’d be incompetent.”
Mollie’s curiosity piqued further. “Can you check if there’s anything wrong with me?”
“Give me your hand; I’ll take your pulse,” Sylvia said seriously.
Mollie immediately extended her right hand. Sylvia placed her index and ring fingers on Mollie’s pulse point and examined it carefully.
“You’re just tired and have some coldness in your womb. I’ll prescribe some traditional medicine to help balance your body for future pregnancy,” Sylvia said matter-of-factly. “Also, pay attention to your diet and rest.”
At that moment, Sylvia’s phone rang-it was Jasper calling. “Something’s wrong!”
