Book:A wolf heart Published:2024-9-3

Stella POV.
I ran and I ran some more, I tried to avoid the car, and the fight behind me, but they had me on some kind of highway, this whole country is made up of green spaces, they have more trees than anything else, and they don’t have many people around, or maybe the wolves and vampires ate half of the people around here.
I tried to wave to the nearest car, stopping the one that was going in the opposite direction of the fight, sadly for me the car ignored me, so I kept on running down the road, no other car passed by, and I was running for a while, I hoped they killed each other, I hoped that they caused each other enough harm to keep them busy for as long as it takes to get someone to pick me up, anyone to get me off the street and away from them.
“Help! Help!” I yelled and waved at a truck coming my way, it’s not my first choice or pick, but my choices were very limited.
“Are you okay girl?” the truck driver asks, opening the window, looking at me confused.
“No, I need help please, I need a ride,” I begged him.
“Where to?” he asks me.
“Anywhere but here, please,” I begged him, he looked at me and then decided I was worth picking up.
“Get in,” he says, I opened the door and used both hands to pick myself up and inside, closing the door behind me, and waiting for him to start driving.
“So who did you fight with?” he asks me.
“Oh this, you should’ve seen the other guy,” I say with a sad chuckle, trying to look behind me, using the side mirror, trying to make sure that they weren’t on us yet.
“How bad is he?” he asks me.
“He got a broken heart,” I answer him.
“Your boyfriend did this to you?” he asks me.
“Ex,” I answer him, trying to make him feel sorry for me, hoping he’d keep me safe from them two until we got far away enough to be able to contact the other two so they’d be able to come and actually save me.
“He better be an ex after what he did to you,” the driver says and I nod.
“Thank you for saving me,” I say starting to relax, they weren’t in my view, and I couldn’t hear their yelling either, I felt like I could breathe for a second.
“You welcome, no one should lay a hand on a girl,” the driver says angrily, he was growling, was he one too? I didn’t dare to ask, I was better off sitting quietly, and waiting for him to drop me anywhere near home.
“Where do you want me to drop you? I have some people that can keep you safe if you’re too worried about that ex,” he offers me.
“Just drop me near the closest bus stop,” I say but then I remembered I don’t have any money on me, maybe I can stay there until they come and get me, I didn’t try to talk to Wolfie, maybe she’ll answer me now that we’re far away.
‘Wolfie, are you there?’ I whisper in my head, not daring to look worried or make the constipation look that Finn keeps saying I have whenever I’m talking in my head.
‘I’m here, I don’t like this guy,’ she says meaning the truck driver.
‘He’s the one who saved us Wolfie, we’ll get off soon,’ I assure her.
‘I don’t feel too good about him,’ she says and I give her an inner nod, or at least I tried to give her an inner nod.
“You smell funny, did your ex have anything to do with it?” he asks me, and I give him a side look, what does he mean by smell funny?
“Excuse me,” I say with a raised brow.
“You smell like a creature,” he says and my heart dropped, is he another vampire?
“A creature? I’m a human you know,” I say trying to sound tough, trying to tell him he better not think about messing with me, Wolfie growled over the human part, we’re more than that, we’re the next Luna.
“That Ex of yours, did he ever act weird? Tried to bite your neck?” he asks me.
“I wasn’t dating Count Dracula,” I answered him, I knew that Theo wasn’t a vampire at least.
“Some creatures… they are sick, they think, they act like they are ones,” he says, with a shrug, trying to explain things to me.
“I don’t think my ex was a vampire,” I answer him with a sigh.
“He smells like one, you smell like a vampire,” he says, is he for real? Could he smell Alaina on me still?
“My ex isn’t a vampire, you should know that,” I assure him.
“You don’t know that for sure, unless if you know of the other creatures too,” he says.
‘Lie,’ Wolfie jumps in.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about man, my ex isn’t Dracula, and what other creatures are you even talking about?” I say trying to sound innocent.
“Whatever you say girl,” the driver says and keeps on driving, I have to talk to my wolves, to Milo and James, do they even know I’m missing?
‘James! Miloooooooo,’ I yell in my head again, and again.
“You know more than you’re telling me,” the driver says after a couple of minutes giving me another side look.
“I don’t know much,” I lied and shrugged.
“Can you drop me off?” I asked him, we’re near a familiar point, it’s not that familiar but it said the word bus and stop, so it’s my stop.
“I need you to see someone first,” he says.
“Thank you, but I need to go home, mom would be worried about me,” I answer him.
“It’ll only take a couple of minutes,” the driver says.
“Please let me out,” I say truning to my side of the door, trying to open it.
“Girl, you’re safe with us, don’t worry,” he says but I didn’t feel safe, I was trapped and I tried to yell for Milo and James again, but they weren’t listening to me, they didn’t hear me.
“We’re almost there, you don’t have to worry girl,” the driver says, parking the truck, he finally opened the door, and so I opened it trying to get away as fast as possible, but I fell face first.
“Kai, you’re scared the hell out of her,” another guy says, helping me off the ground, we’re in a truck parking space I think, some kind of a warehouse.
“I’m sorry alpha, but she smells of vampire, she’s beaten and she needs help,” the guy says sounding worried about me.
“I’m alpha Nathan, and you don’t have to lie to me, we know you know about us, now tell me why were you beaten by a vampire?” he asks me.
“Because they are jerks,” I say with a shrug.
“Do you belong to a pack? Do you know what’s your alpha’s name?” he asks me, as if I’m a small child who was lost.
“I just want to get home, please,” I begged him, I didn’t want to tell him anything, and I didn’t want to stay here either.
“I’m sorry, I’m only letting you go when your alpha comes and picks you up,” he answers me in a cold voice.
“Alpha Nathan, I’m not a child, I want to get to my fucking home,” I growl in his face, I’m sounding like my wolves now, growling and swearing.
“Don’t swear, child,” he scolds me, he sounds as bad as James does.
“I don’t want to tell you their name,” I say trying to hold my stance.
“Child, if you do belong to another pack, I will find out, and when your alpha comes to pick you up, and they will come they won’t be too happy about you wondering off to my territory, you’ll be causing your pack troubles, and you don’t want to cause your pack any trouble with me,” he warns me.
“You won’t find out, I can assure you,” I promise him.
“Don’t test me, child,” Alpha Nathan warns me.
“I’m not testing you, I just want to go home,” I answer him.
“I want to send you home just as bad as you want to go, name, so I’d know I’m not letting you out to the streets,” he says.
“How about we call my father?” I say instead, I could call dad and he’d come and get me.
“Fathers are good, but alphas are even better,” he answered me.
“How about my mom?” I ask him.
“Don’t bother, and a Luna isn’t going to work either, your alpha’s name,” the alpha ordered me again.
“Let me think of this,” I say with a shrug.
“Come inside, you can have some water and I’ll give you a minute,” he says leading me toward an office, I took a seat and was handed a bottle of water, I broke the seal on it so I knew it was safe to drink it.
‘Wolfie?’ I ask her, maybe she’d know what to do now.
‘Give them alpha Jayden’s name,’ she says, finally deciding that it’s our best choice.
After a couple of minutes, the alpha came back in, I could see his guys standing near the door the whole time, so I knew running wasn’t an option either, I was better off just sitting and wait for alpha Jayden to come and get me.
“So the name?” Alpha Nathan asks.
“You promise not to fight with the other pack?” I asked him, and he did warn me about fighting.
“I promise, they just need to come and pick you up,” he says.
“Fine, then, my alpha… uhhh… he’s Alpha Jayden,” I finally say.
“Alpha Jayden is your alpha? And he let you run around with vampires? He’s going to have your ass for that,” he says with a chuckle, and then it turned into a laugh, he was laughing so loudly at me.
“What are you laughing at?” I say with a pout.
“You, oh man, let me call him, he shouldn’t take long to get here, we’re neighbours,” he says and takes his phone and calls someone.
“Jayden, I have one of yours over here, can you come and pick her up?” Alpha Nathen says in a firm voice.
“I’ll be waiting for you in the shipping storage,” he says finally ending the call, he looked at me and laughed again, I didn’t like his laugh, I’m sure alpha Jayden wasn’t going to be mad at me, I was kidnapped and I saved myself.
