Milo POV.
He might be dead, I felt like going insane, I got the call saying that they were attacked and I felt fear go through my body, I was terrified about him and the rest of his pack, I liked James, I counted him as my friend, he’s part of the family, he’s a guy that I actually care about, and now he might be dead.
“I’m sorry Milo,” Stella says again, hugging me tight, she didn’t want to let me go and I didn’t want to tell her about the danger, we’re only starting to teach her about our lives and the responsibilities she’ll have to take once she become the Luna officially.
“I don’t mean to scare you, you can go spend time with mom, or I can call Theo over,” I say,
I had no idea where Theo is crashing, he must have fallen asleep after running patrol last night, dad has gave him the night shift after he found out about us breaking into Stella’s home to sleep over with her.
He’s worried that her father would find out about us breaking into her room, I promised him that we’re careful and we’d wake up as soon as the door opens, but dad doesn’t believe us, and I don’t blame him. Stella shook her head no, she didn’t want to leave me alone, I was happy and grateful to have my soul around me, I need her but I didn’t want to scare her either.
“You can go and spend time with others if you want, you don’t need to stay here with me,” I say, feeling sorry for her.
“Nu-uh, I wanna stay here with you,” she answers me, hugging me again, she’s a little one, she’s showing more signs every day showing that she’s a little one who’s hiding it, or maybe she’s not ready to show off the little side yet.
“Okay, I’m sorry for scaring you,” I say wiping my eyes again, I’m the alpha, I’m the wolf, I should be strong enough not to cry over the fact that James might be dead now, more tears started to fall down my face again.
“It’s okay to cry,” she assures me, wiping the tears away, any wolf who had any respect to themselves would never cry, even if a whole pack might have died by now, but after getting your soul, when the said soul is sitting on the bed right next to me, I can’t help the tears that are going down my face, I can’t help all the tears of hurt and the pain.
“I shouldn’t be crying, but he might be dead,” I tell my soul, my little soul, my sensitive soul.
“Maybe he didn’t die,” she suggests landing a kiss on my cheek, I was still crying, I shouldn’t be crying.
“His name is James, he’s my friend, and kind of relative, he’s a big bad alpha, he’s even stronger than me, and one thing about alphas if our packs are attacked, we don’t pull back, we stay there with our pack, we’d fall for our packs,” I explain to her why I doubt that he’d be alive, if his whole pack fell, he’ll be there with the pack, he’d fall with them.
“You don’t know that Milo, maybe he’s alive, is that person checking for you?” she asks me, she heard my part of the conversation and she knew that I asked my informant to go and see if he’s alive, if anyone from that pack was still alive.
“He’s not going to check, it’s too dangerous for him to go and check,” I say, it’s not that dangerous, but he’s too scared to do so, he’s a coward, he doesn’t want to put himself in any kind of danger, the vampires attack and keep moving, they don’t stay behind, and the reason they attack, they hate us.
The same gods who created us has created the vampire, I don’t know who was created first, but one of them was created and then the other ones, and we hate each other, we are ready to kill each other as soon as we see one other, and since we’re given the gift of souls and they aren’t, the vampires tend to attack us and kill the whole pack, burn the houses and move along, ready to kill the next wolf and their soul they find.
“Did you try calling Milo?” she asks me so innocently, I didn’t think about calling him and I doubt he’d answer his phone, if he’s dead how would he be able to answer me?
“I don’t think he’ll answer me,” I say.
“You have to try Milo,” she scold me, she tried to, but it didn’t work too well with her.
“Fine, I will,” I agree just to make her feel better, I didn’t want to do it, but anything to make my baby feel better.
I called his number, and waited for him to not answer, dead people don’t answer their phone, I waited and waited, just showing Stella that no one is going to pick the phone up, when I was sure that no one is going to answer and I was going to end the call, the call was picked up.
“Hello,” a faint voice says, it was the voice of a very exhausted James, I didn’t expect him to answer me, I didn’t expect him to be alive.
When I heard his voice, I jumped up, unbelieving that he did answer me, he’s not dead! Maybe the informant was wrong, maybe he meant the wrong pack, wrong information get circulated all the time, I didn’t know what to say the happiness of hearing his voice has me silent.
“Say hello,” Lil-star says pointing to my phone.
“James, you’re not dead,” I say that was the first thing that came to my mind.
“I’m as good as dead,” James answers me.
“Where are you?” I ask him, ready to go and get him, ready to get there and save him, we’re friends, I should be able to help him, no matter what/
“My pack is dead, our houses are burned, and I’m out on the street,” James says sarcastically.
“James, where are you? I can get over,” I say, looking at Lil-star, she can stay with my parents and Theo until we’re back.
“Don’t bother, the vampires are still near, you have a life to live,” James answers me.
“I’m not leaving you out for the crows,” I say angry at him, why is he thinking so badly about himself?
“What are you going to do idiot? Come and put yourself in danger for me? What about your soul and mate?” James scolds me.
“I’ll send you someone from my pack,” I say still worried about him.
“No, I’m not going to put another pack member in danger for me,” he answers me, but leaving him for death wasn’t an option, not for me, never for me.
“James! I’m not leaving you for death,” I yell through the phone, making Stella flinch again, I don’t mean to scare her, I shouldn’t be yelling like this, but the fear that’s going through my body had the best of me.
“I made amends with death Milo, have a nice life,” James says ending the call with me, he didn’t give me any clue on where he is right now, and so I screamed in frustration, he’s a jerk!
“Hey, man, your screams woke me up, if you’re mad don’t take it on her, take it on me, I’d love another chance to beat your ass,” Theo’s voice came from my window.
“You don’t have to jump through my window to come in,” I say to him in a cold voice, I’m frustrated and mad, but not at either of them.
“I like the whole window jumping in scene, you didn’t tell me what’s up?” Theo asks me again.
“James,” I say in a sad voice.
“The teacher? Or the butcher?” he asks me, James is a common name between wolves, and I meant none of those.
“My cousin,” I answer him.
“Oh that James the stuck up alpha,” he says with an eye roll, Thoe doesn’t like alphas in general, and although I’m his soul I still doubt the fact that he likes me being his alpha.
“That’s mean Theo, Milo is sad, be nice,” Stella scolds him.
“What did James do? Get his stubborn ass beaten by another wolf? And he’s no longer alpha? Does he need us to go and wipe his tears?” Theo says in a sarcastic voice.
“Theo, save it,” I say deciding not to tell him anything, I don’t need to share with him any of the information with him, he’ll just laugh at James, he’s not strong enough to keep his pack or himself safe.
“Theo! Why are you being a jerk? James is out there in danger! And Milo is sad about it, so suck it up and either say something nice or shut up,” Stella scolds him, there’s my future Luna showing off her powers.
“Danger? What’s going on Milo?” Theo asks me, his tone changing from being a sarcastic jerk into a more thoughtful jerk.
“His pack was attacked,” I answer him, I don’t need to give him details, he knows who is strong enough to take a wolf pack.
“How bad is it?” Theo asks me in a serious voice.
“Dead,” I answer him and his face went pale, he didn’t expect that when he was being a jerk earlier.
“But she said James is in danger, he’s still alive?” Theo asks me.
“He is, but he’s in the streets, somewhere,” I say knowing too well that I can’t run to go and get him.
“He needs to be saved,” Stella says with a big pout.
“I can’t leave the pack,” I say to them both.
“Why not? I can leave,” Theo says.
“You hate James and you want to go and save him?” I ask him.
“Sure why not? That would be a great hit to his ego,” Theo says with a smile.
“That’s not going to happen, I’m not risking your life either,” I say in a firm voice.
“It’s just a rescue mission, we check where he is, we go get him and come back home,” Theo says.
“It’s not that easy,” I say although he makes it sound like it’s nothing.
“Why not? We just figure out where he is, take a car, go get him and come back home,” Stella says.
“No, and you’re not going anywhere,” I inform her.
“The holiday is almost here, I can talk mom into letting us go on a road trip,” Lil-Star says.
“Yeah, that’s a good idea, we’ll just go and be back before the day ends,” Theo says with a big smile.
“I said no, and stop encouraging her,” I scold Tho.
