Rachael walked out of the company after delivering several goodbyes to her colleagues. Her eyelids were dropping, proof of how dizzy she was. Damien had made sure she sent invitations to all the investors under the Callahan enterprise before the end of the day, he wanted to leave no stone unturned. Though it was beneficial to her, she got all the information she needed but the work was hectic. Anyone who saw her now, who think she was about to slip and fall.
She stood by the roadside to stop a cab, a black sports car abruptly parked in front of her, making her stunned. The car was one of a kind and she would have taken her time to admire it but her anger was at its peak. She knocks on the car window.
“Hey, you. Are you blind?.. how can you park your car in front…..” She paused, flabbergasted. The window had already been winded down and the face of the driver caught her off guard as she was short of words.
“William” she managed to whisper.
The man smiled with a prideful gaze and uttered to her. “Get in. We need to talk”
She felt like she was being pulled by a magnet as she opened the door and sat down in the car without any sign of protest.
A few minutes after William started the ride, she finally found her voice. “I didn’t know you had a car. A sports car.. are you kidding me?…” She exclaimed, still shocked.
“Well, I don’t fancy it much. it’s a gift from an old friend and my job wouldn’t even let me think of riding it” William said in his defense.
“Then why are you riding it?”Rachael asked with her brows arched in suspicion.
“I’m on leave, for a month” he replied with a smile on his face. “That means more time to spend with you”
“Ugh….” Rachael scoffed. “Don’t get too relaxed with me. I haven’t permitted you to woo me”
“Well, get ready to be stunned, ’cause I have plans,” William remarked with a smirk on his face, occasionally glancing at Rachael. ” I want to take you out for dinner”
“What?” Rachael exclaimed, her voice filled with shock, her gaze subconsciously scanned her body. “But I’m still in my work clothes”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got that covered” William replied with confidence in his voice. “Check the backseat. There’s a shopping bag on it”
“Okay,” Rachael uttered with an evasive tone as she leaned towards the backseat, grabbing the white bag in the middle. She sat back and placed the bag on her hips. She ransacked the bag and pulled out a red sequence strapless dress, her mouth widened in disbelief.
“What is this?” She asked, her face morphed into a frown. “I can’t wear this”
“Why??” William asked, his voice laced with a hint of confusion, his expression clearly displeased. “Is it not good enough?”
“Are you dumb?” She yelled at him. “Have you ever seen me in a dress before?.. you know I don’t wear things like this, I never did”
“Ugh.. ugh,” William says nervously as the realization dawns on him. “I’m sorry, I thought you had changed. I never knew you were still the same tomboy I knew in high school”
“Whatever… I’ll try it on” Rachael blurted out, for some reason, she wanted William to see her in a different light. Her face turned red with embarrassment as she recalled her sassy and rude behavior in high school. “Where do I get changed?”
“When we get to the dinner date” William replied as his heart leaped for joy, his voice enthusiastic as he imagined how she would look in that dress. He intentionally increased his driving speed to hasten things.

“Wow! Isn’t this restaurant quite expensive?” Rachael asked, her mouth widened in amazement as she scanned the whole scenery, oblivious to the proud smile on William’s face. He had let her change in his car while he waited outside. To his uttermost surprise, her baggy jeans and large tops hid a well-shaped body with a voluptuous chest, definitely his type.
He held her hands softly and walked her towards the table he had reserved for them, pulling the chair for her to sit on.
“Thank you” Rachael blushed shyly as she was receiving such treatment for the first time. Then, a thought crossed her mind. “I never knew a doctor could earn this much”
“I have my ways, Rachael. You’ll know sooner or later” William muttered, a mysterious glint flashing in his eyes which Rachael failed to notice because she was adjusting her dress. She was trying her best to hide her discomfort, but she was just not used to it. She felt her skin crawl as the dress hung to her body tightly.
“Rachael, what would you like to order?” William asked, handing over a menu to her from the waiter she just noticed standing before them. “You can choose anything you want”
“Alright,” Rachael replied with a weird expression on her face as she glanced through the menu. Truthfully, she had a lot of money but she was kind of a thrift spender. She wasn’t used to the social lifestyle and was new to all the items on the menu.
“You should choose,” she said, handing over the menu back to William. “I’m okay with any meal you pick”
William chose the meal and they both dug into it, savoring the taste and attesting to the fact that the restaurant was truly rated five stars. They tried other desserts and ate to their fill. They were on their way out of the restaurant when Rachael recalled something.
“William” she called out his name. “My boss is planning on…”
William’s expression turned frosty, the bright smile on his face gone like it had all been an illusion. He was lost in thoughts until Rachael tugged at his jacket. “Are you listening to me?” She asked, a bit frustrated”
“Yes, my dear” he sighed deeply. “I don’t think you should delay any further in seeing Liam and telling him the truth” his tone was so sharp and serious that people could think that he had a personal relationship with the person involved.
“You’re right”Rachael’s gaze turned solemn. “I’ll find a chance to go”
