Cade got into his car and began to drive home, he was suddenly reminded of the interaction he had with Ophelia earlier. She had been the one to suggest that they go shopping but she did not pick up any of the clothes even though she looked breathtaking in them all. He was convinced that sometimes tabloids and rumours might be true.
They had often said that Ophelia had the body of a goddess and could make any dress look fantastic by just wearing it. Dresses sold more just because she wore them and even some brands wished she was an influencer, They would pay just to have her model their dresses.
He called the manager of the store, luckily he still had her contact. He was going to pick up the dresses and surprise her with them. He wondered why he wanted to do such a thing. As he thought of it he could not see reason as to why he was doing it but he could not talk himself out of it either way. It was as if he had to do it. What could go wrong with him buying some clothes for her? She would appreciate the gesture and they could continue with their life.
“Hello Mr Vale,” the manager said so happily. She was glad to hear from him. She had heard that he had come by while she was away and that they had not gotten anything. She had promised herself to call him tomorrow to find out what had happened.
“Hello Linda,” he said.
“I was going to wait till tomorrow before I gave you a call. I heard you came around while I was out today?”
“Have you closed?” he asked ignoring her question. The staff must have told her that she would want to call him because they did not buy anything. She would then try to sell them something. He was not even angry at the situation, he understood that it was her responsibility to raise sales so she was just doing her job.
“We are just about to” Cade glanced at the clock on the dashboard.
“Can someone keep the store open for about eleven minutes?”
“Are you coming over?” she asked feeling a bit excited to hear that.
“Yes, tell them to pack out the clothes that my wife tried out and also to pair them with shoes and bags,” he said.
Linda could not believe her ears. He was going to buy all twenty dresses? She had worked that line for such a long time that one would think that huge purchases like that would not faze her, anytime it happened she was always reminded of the huge gap between the wealthy and the middle class in society. Each dress cost a lot and it was a little wonder that he was going to add a different pair of shoes and bag for each outfit.
“Is it possible?” Linda almost laughed at his question. He was singlehandedly going to raise their monthly sales by a lot. Even if it was impossible she was going to make it possible by all means.
“Of course it is,” she said before adding. “I will personally wait for you to pick it up” She would even agree to go to his house if he had requested for a delivery.
Cade cut off the call and changed the directions on his GPS before making his way to the store, luckily for him, he had not left the area and could easily make it there before the time frame he had given her. She was elated as she helped him load his car with the bags. Cade paid at once and then left for the house.
On his way home he was stuck in some kind of annoying traffic that seemed to be on a standstill. By the time he finally made it home, he was exhausted and just wanted dinner. He hoped that the staff had made a meal for him. He walked in to meet Ophelia coming down the stairs.
“You are late,” she said as they made eye contact.
“There was horrible traffic” he replied walking in her direction.
“Have you had dinner?” she asked him and he shook his head. “I thought as much. Should I make something for you?” she asked and he shook his head.
“We can have the staff do that” he said looking around and trying to see if any of them was available.
“I already sent them all to bed for the night,” she said. “Don’t worry I am sure I can whip something simple up for you”
“Do you actually know how to cook?” he asked and she smirked turning to him.
“You aren’t the only Mr perfect. I am also Ms perfect” she said and she laughed.
“So you do know how to cook? Why don’t we put that to a test?” he asked.
“Be my guest” she said going into the kitchen. “I was craving something so I am going to make that for us” she added taking out the ingredients.
Cade was suddenly reminded of the clothes he had bought, he thought of the right time to give them to her but could not find them. So instead of bringing it up so causally, he reminded her of the bet they made on their wedding night. “Remember when you said you could find my weakness in ten days?” he asked suddenly.
She wondered what made him think of that at a time like this. She had discovered that it was a difficult task to do and she wished it would just die down and then they had to never talk about it again. “But you told me I could have a month”
“You boasted you could do it in ten days,” he said.
“I admit it is too hard to do” she said accepting defeat which was a mystery to them both.
“Wow, that was easy,” Cade said.
“So you have ten wishes. What are they?” she asked ready to do them and get them over with.
“I shall use them at my own time but I have only one for tonight”
“What is it?”
“Let us go to my car”
